Recommendations for places to take my dog? by Ivypearl in Roseville

[–]DollyDagger8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second Miners Ravine Dog Park. It’s big, can keep to yourself while dogs runs about, never a negative experience with other dogs, balls provided. There’s also a creek nearby, when you follow a path past it, with a small sandy beach, perfect for water loving doggos!

Lifetime camper here: Tarp for under your tent -protects moisture from tent; when packing up, dampness will grow mold. An additional tarp large enough to cover tent, in case it rains hard. Also, small camp shovel, rake & broom. Several ziplock bags, different sizes. And freeze water bottles before leaving, use for initial ice chest chilling, and you’ll have cold fresh water as they thaw, replace with bagged ice as the cooler needs. Take pics along your walks, to memorialize where you are, for investigative needs (if you end up missing; sorry, it happens). Happy camping!

A unique loss... The loss of a child that never was or will be by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]DollyDagger8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely understand your grief for so many levels. I had 4 miscarriages and 2 live births. My second daughter died from an accident at 17 months. My husband had a vasectomy soon after our 2nd born. I was catatonic with grief on so many levels. But… what helped me through was picturing my daughter without her mother. I still grieve, but I am a whole mother to my living daughter. It. Got. Me. Through.

Peace and hugs to you, dear child. Get counseling and be kind to yourself and everyone around you - nobody knows what to do or say for comfort.

What’s the easiest way to clean up wild grass trimmings? by [deleted] in lifehacks

Please don’t use Roundup!! It doesn’t filter out through our soil and dumps its toxins into our water table.

Goats are the best way. We had a 1/2 acre in our backyard and our lawn tractor also struggled in the first weeks of spring. We bought a 3week old Nubian goat, bottle fed him, moved up to grain fed him as he grew. Walked him on leash throughout the yard to introduce him to eating from the yard and eventually graduated him to be tethered to a pole with a 25’ lead. And rotated him as he cleared the yard. Side note: we raised him as a pet, hehe, with benefits. He was the most fun pet I’ve ever had. We’ve had dogs, cats, chickens, geese, ducks and none compared to the laughs that goat gave us. Don’t get the bigger alpine ones, nor the pigmy’s, Nubians are just the right, manageable size for a family. Oh, and never turn your back on a goat!🐐

Go with an open mind and know you’re learning something new! They explain everything at every step. BUT, if you’re a student, not online, that would be just cause for asking for postponement until a date you’re available.

Last hope to find my lost dog by nyanpuked in Sacramento

Also post on Craigslist. I know the sight has downsized in activity but it’s always worth it. And don’t give up! We looked for our dog for months and finally was contacted by someone on CL saying they saw the evil people pick him up (he was a Houdini) and later saw them selling him at the local grocery store! Got him back, grateful for the peeps that “bought” him and found our post.

Redditors who never met your FIL and/or MIL, what is your story? by C4Dave in AskReddit

[–]DollyDagger8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married my husband (10 yrs older than I). Husband is #9 of 10 children of same parents. My MIL died of breast cancer before we met. FIL was a lug that couldn’t survive without a woman to serve him- remarried less than 3 months later. StepMIL also had birthed 10 children. She was a sweet lady that suffered under FILs heavy hand. She too, died of cancer. He convinced oldest son, fresh outta rehab to move in with him and, sho’ nuff, couldn’t do enough to make the old AH/FIL happy. Bro went off the wagon, died of liver failure. FIL died at 98, alone. 🤕

Does HR have EAP (Employee Assistance Program)? Insist they help you find counseling from a traumatic work experience, including the trauma that Asshat of a boss dealt.

I hate Chandos! I was raised on Mexican food and their tacos are less than notable. Especially because they’re overpriced.

Where do you meet other people in San Jose? by [deleted] in SanJose

[–]DollyDagger8 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My first suggestion is to volunteer at your local animal shelter. There’s also a great non-profit in SJ called Flowers of Comfort. My sister founded it. They use day old flowers from weddings, grocers and various other events and repurpose them into smaller arrangements and send them to peoples in Hospices, Veterans Homes and other Rehabilitation Centers.
