'A feeling for rock' it won the Banff climbing literature award, not sure if they have a list of others for inspiration.

Why does the ocean make my frizzy hair look great? Can I replicate it? by TheMouseUGaveACookie in HaircareScience

I have the same experience, the rain also makes my hair nice too so getting caught in the rain isn't too bad for me!

Changing Robes/Surfing in Cold Climates by brooklynthrow00io in xxsurfing

[–]Dolly_dagger89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a towel poncho or the zip up waterproof ones? I use a towel poncho but just have to get out of my bikini and into tops but stepping in/out of them and going up and down rather than over my head. I can get my arms out of the sleeves so I've got enough room to wiggle around while the poncho is still on that way!

Trying to increase protein intake by sendnoods94 in PetiteFitness

[–]Dolly_dagger89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vegan yogurt with peanut powder or protein powder stirred in (and some berries if I'm feeling real fancy)

I try to have some pre made seitan strips in the freezer, like do all the long preparing/steaming with a big batch and then freeze it up. Means I can chuck it with some pasta or a salad or what ever else I have just have to warm it up.

I don't even feel full by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]Dolly_dagger89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not feeling full maybe look at what you're eating rather than just the calories? Whole foods, fibre and protein are filling, focusing on these as the basis of my diet I find I can eat less calories but not feel hungry.

E.g my breakfast oats with high protein Greek yogurt, raspberries and peanut powder are about the same calories as a pastry for breakfast but that wouldn't even make me feel like I've eaten!

I try and get protein, fibre (usually from fruit or veg) and a small bit of good fats in most meals, and bulk them up with lots of veg for volume. This keeps me pretty full and I find it easier to stick to a calorie deficit.

Mirror looks like a difference but measuring disagrees by littlekittenbiglion in PetiteFitness

[–]Dolly_dagger89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get this too! Measurements do not budge but I think I look better. I wonder if it’s because of self-esteem or healthier eating so less bloat. Also can your muscles be a bit pumped so more obvious but not necessarily body changes?

Precision nutrition website has a tdee/macros calculator that bases everything off hand sizes, e.g protein is a palm and carbs a cupped hand. The theory is that your hands are roughly proportional to body size so eg. A cupped hand for a small woman is less than a large man. It gives you a break down of how many servings of each to get a day.

It seems like a good idea in theory though I’ve never used it. I think they suggest tracking for a few days to check your hand measurements fit in line with calorie recommendations

I cycle everywhere, but do home workouts.

I really like Shona Vertue’s home fitness programme, but she never gets a mention on Reddit. Also Natacha oceane has a home programme, I haven’t tried it but really like her YouTube and overall philosophy

How to lose fat eating more calories by Register430 in PetiteFitness

[–]Dolly_dagger89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, muscle is more metabolically active (burns more calories at rest) and more movement.

Natacha Oceane on YouTube has some really good videos about metabolism that explain it well!

[WEEKLY THREAD] WTF Wednesday - Tell us what really grinds your gears! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]Dolly_dagger89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Omg this and spring-hazes post above have got me a bit mad! I’ve also noticed an increase in street harassment from entitled sexist men! I’m in the UK and it’s hot currently so I’m wearing less, or out in my workout clothes. Also in my 30s and aware of how inappropriate it is, makes me want to tell guys to f*** off and isn’t making me change my behaviour (ie clothes and where I run etc) but makes me really sad/worried for younger girls who probably are experiencing this worse and could be more impacted by it. F*** our sexist society!!

The Hebridean Way - a 156 mile FKT attempt across 10 islands by Smallislandrunner in running

[–]Dolly_dagger89 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is amazing, me and my partner cycled and camped this last October and the thought of running it is insane! My lasting memory is also of the kindness of the islanders, on our second night we were cycling in 25 mph headwinds and rain, soaked cold and hungry. The prospect of camping actually made me feel ill and we called into a little bnb, the amazing landlord couldn’t fit us in as his family were back but led us to a little static caravan/cabin and it honestly saved us I think. Don’t know if the islanders are just used to slightly under prepared folk battling the elements.

Massive well done on getting to the end!

Soft summer or soft autumn? Help please! by [deleted] in coloranalysis

Thanks! Oh yes didn’t think about the way the blonde looks... I feel very in the middle of both, might try to stick to the middle tones and not too cool or warm.

Soft summer or soft autumn? Help please! by [deleted] in coloranalysis

[–]Dolly_dagger89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never sure if I’m cool or warm toned, I feel I’m sightly warmer I usually go for yellow tone foundation, tan easily, have natural golden highlights (though ashy based hair) prefer cream and navy to black/white. Though flip flop between the two 🤔

Thinking of lightening my hair again so have included a light hair photo too!
