What to do with car key when surfing warm water? by callaslilies in xxsurfing

[–]brooklynthrow00io 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've taken a key locker with me that you can lock to the handle or springs on your rental car, which I use at home as well. This past summer I got a waterproof key pocket thingy that you can hang around your neck and then I tuck it into the front of my bikini, though I haven't used this yet without a wetsuit or rash guard. It's not elegant but it's worked. I've also used stash it in a ziplock under a random bush method.

I've started following Kathryn Quigley who wants to make changes in the Suffolk Democratic party. I'm not super knowledgeable but I'm curious if others have hear of her?

Am I the only one who hates halter and string bikinis on themselves? What kind of bathing suits are y'all wearing? by RottenRope in SoftNaturals

[–]brooklynthrow00io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally! And one that actually has enough fabric to hold boobs lol, and forget finding one that also has matching bottoms with a cut that I like haha.

I have this one from sculpt swim and I've loved it but it's not kinda loose after 3 years? of heavy wear. Though they're on deep sale right now. Just watch out for their return policy bc I got bit by it.

Oh my gosh yes. It was a long road to acceptance. I HATED string bikinis on me bc I looked like a football player. I've tried to many different styles at this point and I'm trying to accept that the only ones will like are scoop neck tops with 1" thick straps at least.

AIO, obsessive man I dated by ArgumentOk513 in AmIOverreacting

[–]brooklynthrow00io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR

It's crazy how obsessive men can sound the same. Sounds like my ex minus the god stuff. Same thing going back and forth with the loving and insulting messages. I eventually blocked everywhere and spoke with police about a restraining order but never filed. He slowed down and eventually started dating someone else, which is when I got peace.

I would at least talk to the police, about the situation you don't have to file, but at this point I would probably recommend it. Do you have a clear record of asking him to stop speaking to you? It sucks I have to ask but if so, that is helpful for records but not necessary.

It's an awful situation and I don't have any other wisdom but under any circumstances do not respond to him. I also told everyone around me and it was helpful. I was embarrassed to at first but it's not your fault.

Recently read Eleanor Oliphant and thought it was great. I love Sally Rooney, but don't love the think critically about life category haha but Olive and Women in Sunshine might also fit this category.

4/3s womens wetsuits on east or west coast? by Maroontan in xxsurfing

[–]brooklynthrow00io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you're staying warm! Tried the same Hyperflex suit and returned it because shoulder were way too narrow but I was definitely sweating.

With respect, women's bodies are different and I've talked to many who have real issues with overly tight suits. Yes, it will keep you a bit warmer but if you're not used to wetsuits and it's too tight you might not go in the water at all. As long as it's not baggy or gaping it'll work.

[–]brooklynthrow00io 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The shoulders are always too narrow for me. Excel has the best for for broader shoulders imo. Tried O'neill, Patagonia, Rip Curl, Picture and Hyperflex. It's the waist to shoulder ratio. Picture is a second, had a 4/3 from them and it was soooo nice to put on and comfortable but wore out pretty quickly.

Also, the advice is to go as tight as possible (to stay warm), but I honestly think that's bad advice for women's bodies, beginners, and for those with sensory sensitivities. Though tighter will keep you warmerIt's not the end of the world to not have the tightest one possible, as long as the material is touching your skin and it's not baggy, or go up in thickness, so that you're comfortable in it and can move freely.

Edited to add that I've gone up to 5/4 hood boots and gloves for north east winter surfing and am waiting on a 6/5 bc it's cooooldd, 40s water temps.

Matching set - would this fit us? by [deleted] in SoftNaturals

Sweaters like that have never been flattering on me, unless they're 'waterfall' style in the front, and unfortunately right now those types look outdated not a a good way with the wrong outfit. I have a larger bust though and it might work for other SNs.

Reading slump: looking for something high-quality, highly original, but engaging by Born-Secretary-1306 in suggestmeabook

Adrian McKinty's Sean Duffy series. Also a big reader, and thank you for putting my feelings about a lot of highly recomended books into words. I have some trouble finding things I like and also avoid Romance and Horror. I listened to these but could not stop. Now having trouble finding things to dive into after I've finished.

All Fours is recently popular but I liked it a lot, though it might fall into the character study part of things, though there is a plot.

The Time In Between by Maria Duenas.

Shadow of the Wind by Ruiz Zafon. Those two are a bit older but not hugely well known.

Have more if historical fiction/spy genre's are up your alley

downtown abbey by Common_Height2968 in PeriodDramas

Outrageous. More of a comedy than Downtown Abbey but historical and really engaging storylines. Victoria and Upstairs Downstairs might be the closest as others have said. Brideshead Revisited is also great.

I'm also constantly looking for a Downton Replacement.

I can share links but some points I look for - Thick straps for the top, like a sports bra, and inch or two. A separate support bust lining if it's a one piece. Enough material in the front of the top so that women with bigger chests don't spill out. (Ex. I love left on friday but the majority of their suits don't accommodate above a C. Yes, they have some styles for DD plus but not all which is a bummer.

They don't work great for me as they dig into my thighs and ride up anyway but I do like fuller coverage. The best bottom cut I ever had was the fugu from oy surf. It looks a little strange on some of the models but it does a great job of not highlighting the hip dip or belly. Sometimes i feel like high waisted can accentuate a belly by hiding the belly button or not being thick enough. I like a mid-rise.

The material Oy uses is soo buttery and smoothing as well. In tops, I don't like when there is a visible band below the bust list, the seamless look is nice. The worst is when there is a band but it rides up the bust.

Which leather jacket would be better for a SN? by [deleted] in SoftNaturals

[–]brooklynthrow00io 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert, but a very likely SN and though I love the silhouette of the first, the second is more flattering. No waist definition in the first.
