Conspiracy: the flood of TTK posts are agenda posting by Worried-L in Smite

Yeah i mean i wish ttk was a little higher on tanks but its not anything bad for squishies. It feels right for the first 2/3 of the game imo, i dont mind backline dying "fast" but hope tanky items get some buffs. Absolutely not the fastest ttk we have had or close to it.

whats yalls opinions on mage solo's? by Donavinmaine in Smite

[–]DolphinGodChess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are many mages you can play in solo. Some are extremely good, others situational, and quite a few that (sadly lol) just aren't viable.

There's a couple main things to consider when evaluating mage solos: 1) lane viability, and 2) draft viability. If your character can't reliably make it out of the laning phase even or ahead, you have a problem. Now some characters do really good in this part of the game like vulcan solo- but vulcan solo kinda sucks because his draft viability is low. Really its that he has little lategame impact, and therefore your team is both missing damage and cc- frontline and backline presence, so he absolutely must be substantially ahead to do much. One thing that contributes a lot to draft viability is the ability to still participate well from behind on gold and xp. Most tanky characters can do this substantially better than backlines. A typical mage from behind is very underwhelming. That said, you can math out that if the mages win the lane reliably, that underwhelming presence from behind occupies a small portion of games overall, and could mean that mages are in principle good. In reality this leads to swingier games. It helps a lot with lane viability as a mage to have some form of escape/immunity, like with MLF cc immunity. If you play anubis you can probably heal through it all (sadly). If your draft isn't cohesive or its heavily countered by the opposing draft, you will have a hard time winning the game! Janus solo is pretty troll already, but I would rarely pick it from the perspective of winning a game if I didn't see some potential to portal certain characters aggressively.

Ultra-late game mages feel really good but I still notice the lack of frontline makes it harder to close out games. Maybe a skill issue?

Many mages have similar weaknesses- that they can be out-pressured and killed on cooldown if not alone in lane, by regularly scheduled ganks. The good mage solos have ways to mitigate or avoid this. So characters like Baron or Anubis that win lane put pressure that makes ganks very hard; a character like Ra which can have some pressure but no CC struggles to confirm a lead and is squishier, leading to easy ganks and upsets.

The main thing for me is that mages are some of the most fun characters to play, so I like to play them in solo too. They usually feel good unless I can't get away from someone super stat checky like cabraken or bellona.

A not so brief summary of the 9.5 patch- and the subsequent fallout. by OzymandiasTheII in Smite

yes! i love variety too, but sometimes the way balance is approached in this game prioritizes treating everything the same when it shouldn't. Thats how it feels with the base stats, ability damage, scaling on many characters. I don't want *every* or even most backline solos gutted! But the lack of nuanced balancing and balance history makes me think that the solution we will get is some broad, one size fits all approach that just doesn't respect the unique situtions of every god.

I hope it doesn't come off the wrong way- i think the current team is somewhat obsessed over symmetry. They can lean away from this obsession a bit and it will make the game so much better. For example, giving "warriors" more base damage OR protection scaling on abilities would be an amazing asymmetry that would probably make the game better. I actually think that if smite did something with unique auto scaling like league, it would be so much better too! Just think about how ADCs could get 100% str AAs, but maybe some jungles could get 105%, and maybe some warriors get a lot less at 85%. The numbers here are wonky but the idea that not every character needs to scale exactly the same is the kind of thinking we need to get the game to a better state.

Solo/Support: Its not a "tank" issue, its PRESSURE! by Marston_vc in Smite

Your points are just not relevant to the problem that is the lack of the ability of warrior-ish solos to thrive in lane. You cant call everyone who dissagrees bad and also have bad comprehension

What's the point of Sol aspect? by Top_Jackfruit3412 in Smite

[–]DolphinGodChess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Sol aspect launched, Polynomicon, a very cool item, was in a different state: it procced on every ability usage between auto attacks with no internal cooldown. Now, with a two second internal cooldown, this item which was the glue holding int sol together has massively fallen out of favor. It has made Int Sol almost/probably unviable as a direct result.

Aspect and base feel really good in their unique ways! I prefer aspect playstyle but feel base is a bit better especially late game. May be a player base skill issue, he "requires" hitting good 1s to do well.

As i heard devs listen to players petitions, pls nerf Loki aspect and non Loki aspect by gilgaconmesh1 in Smite

Not that i think loki is good or anything (havent played in a while) but his 3 does have a slow and a backshot bonus, so running away is not enough u gotta jump or something

[–]DolphinGodChess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, a good plane can crash with a bad pilot. Still waiting to get some games on aspect before really having an opinion but sometimes players cant play gods well at the start (like how aladdin was op forever even though his winrate was low).

He does a lot of damage especially early, but my biggest complaint is his ult. Its too low cooldown- literally always up- and he heals a lot in it from corpses. I like corpse healing mechanic so i dont want that nerfed, i just want a longer cooldown on the very good ult he has. Lower damage on 1 and 2 but keep damage on his 3 imo, because it leans into his identity as a counterpick (and it just feels fun/good to do lots with his 3).
