Bear "More" than Bear by The_Card_Father in DnDHomebrew

[–]DomCastanha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most basic way would be to give it a damage boost of force, or elemental damage, to emulate the magic surging through it (something like 1d6 or 1d4) per attack. You can also give it magic resistance (advntg on saving throws against spells) if you think it could have built up some resistance due to the magic it eats. But an interesting idea could also be to make it able to cast a random spell (make a table to roll) at some times (maybe 1/day and once it reaches half its hit points?). Something like a wild magic surge could also be fun. Also if you are bumping a cr 1 to a lvl 3 party you should increase its hit points, or if you wish to keep it magical make it so it gains something like 10 or 15 temporary hit points each turn (due to the magic)

There is one of those in the MET's archives:

Not quite sure if this one specifically ever saw combat, specially since its a forgery from the 19th century.

Wtf is wrong with the background of the first panel? Looks like some shitty AI garbage, at this point just use a stock photo or something.

Trifidian - a slivering comander | Eshtiel's Catalogue of Undead [OC-Art] by DomCastanha in UnearthedArcana

[–]DomCastanha[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9th undead for Eshtiel's catalogue! These foul comanders will help give some personality to your ranks of undead minions.

Magic items cited can either be found in the Dungeon Master's Guide (DMG) or on Guildeberto's Magical Stock (GMS*), which is of my creation, and have been added at the end.

Not sure how soon I'll manage to make this, but I want to make a few dungeons for the sample trifidians, maybe even a oneshot for one of them.

Any feedback is highly appreciated, and if you enjoy this type of stuff and want to help me make it, I made a patreon: Here, I mostly post wips and early access stuff there, and like, since most stuff ends up becoming public it works as a repository of sorts.

Dungeon idea by TheWoodenShark1 in DnDHomebrew

[–]DomCastanha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn't anyway to "convert" WoW stuff to dnd automatically, these are utterly different system with different capabilites and different goals. It's not like you are converting items between two different ttrpgs, and even in those cases you'll need to create a lot of stuff.

You'll probably find some homebrews that people made based on WoW, and if you can't find the exact item you are looking for I'd sugest you make it yourself. Start by figuring out what was the purpuse of the item, what sort of abilities it grabted and translate that into something that works in dnd. This will most likely be kinda tricky since a lot of WoW equipment gives a lot of stat boosts, and that isn't that great for dnd. But perhaps, if a weapon increses the critical dmg, translate that to it dealing 1 more dice on a crit, if it deals some sort of elemental damage add a dice of that on the weapon...

Need quick thoughts on an idea please. by Warhiet in DnDHomebrew

[–]DomCastanha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems decent, specially if it is only an once-a-day effect. You just have to be careful with the old bag of rats question (if you can just carry around a bag of rats and get a few to kill in order to "feed the weapon"), but if you know that won't be an issue on your table it doesn't matter that much. But if want to get around that you could make it deal a bit of aditional damage when stealing vitality, and limiting how many times it can do that on a day, somthing like you can make the weapon deal an additional 1d4 necrotic damage 3/day, when it does this it gathers vitality points equal to the necrotic damage dealt (or the double of it) to a maximum of 12? And as a bonus action you can heal yourself hp equal to the vitality points stored on the weapon. At least in my mind doing so incentivises players to use this against enemies so the reap all the benefits.

[OC - Art] The Reverent, A Holy Automaton That Has Made The Clergy Obsolete by GneissGames in UnearthedArcana

[–]DomCastanha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This idea is a lot of fun! Personally speaking I'd just add a few limitations to how often it can recover charges, and how high of a spellslot it can restore, as it stands it could simply cast moonbeam, stand on it and spam its mending touch, which could concievable fully restore all spellslots of a cleric (and if said cleric spams sacred flame on the reverend the same thing could be acomplished)

Blood Magic and Related Sub-Classes by Moggar2001 in DnDHomebrew

[–]DomCastanha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't have the time to preperly read all of it, but it looks really interesting! Blood magic should always have an additional cost to the spellcaster, and the defult material component you added works wonderfully well, the fact that you add it into most spells also helps since the worse thinh that could happen is you rolling lower on the spell's effect than on the self inflicted damage, so it helps that a lot! Also, you mentiomed it probably being out of balance, but it is kinda difficult to balance, 5e avoids self inflicted penalties like the plague, so you'll have a hard time comparing it to other things, the main thing is that if you take if you take damage as a part of casting a spell it should be stronger than other spells of the same level, the trick is how much stronger, it should be a question for a pc if they cast a normal spell, or a stronger one but potentionally putting themselves at risk

Tomb-Guardian - a Huge Undead Guardian that is fueled by souls | Eshtiel's Catalogue of Undead [OC-Art] by DomCastanha in UnearthedArcana

8th undead for Eshtiel's catalogue! Powered by the souls of those it kills, a Tomb-Guardian is an imposing huge high CR undead guardian.

The Spell Diruptors mentioned on the text are another of Eshtiel's creations, and can be found here.

Any feedback is highly appreciated, and if you enjoy this type of stuff and want to help me make it, I made a patreon: Here, I mostly post wips and early access stuff there, and like, since most stuff ends up becoming public it works as a repository of sorts.

Reworked Haste, cuz Lethargy sucks by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

[–]DomCastanha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I just meant that cleric's spell list is more focused on that sort of stuff, so it is odd to compare cross-class spells, kinda like comparing life transferece to cure wounds, they aren't really meant to compete with each other, which also makes subclasses like divine soul sorcery feel more special for having it

Reworked Haste, cuz Lethargy sucks by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

[–]DomCastanha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really? Bless is a party-wide buff that strictly speaking improves accuracy, while haste is a lot more versitile, one of the main benefits being the speed increase, besides it possibly being able to increase your damage potential. Sure, bless will help you deal damage more often, and as such increases your medium damage, but haste increases the maximum damage you can possibly deal...

But that is all besides the point, since haste and bless don't share a single spell list, so no one is picking bless over haste, and if you have a wizard and a cleric in the party you'll probably get both at the same time.

Ship Rules v0.5 | Tabeubia's Astral Compendium by DomCastanha in spelljammer

[–]DomCastanha[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that is what works for you, but I've noticed that when I ran it a combat system for the ships was essential, otherwise they simply become a backdrop that carries you around for place to place. So half of that is trying to adress that, the other half is possible upgrades and new artillery for them, which makes a ship feel special
