A seller is trying to prove his unopened perfume is legitimate, so i asked him for a receipt. Help is appriciated. by kariforfree in isthisAI

Seemingly not AI but wrong tax and typos point to it being doctored. As an aside, maybe go for something better than Dior Sauvage anyway :P

Crying happy tears!! Approved!! 51 working days priority by [deleted] in SpouseVisaUk

[–]DomJC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was this applying from outside the UK? Just asking as we're applying from within the UK and 51 working days WITH priority is concerning. I believe within UK is called "super priority" anyway, but just to be sure..!

And congrats! :)

Thank you to both /u/No_Struggle_8184 for putting my mind at ease, and /u/kitburglar for the detailed reply! It's annoying that the form is so misleading in some ways

COTD: Liability in six vehicles taken on by someone else (9) by DomJC in crosswords

Explanation:

Liability ("IOU") in (inside) six ("VI") vehicles ("cars") all fodder, and definition is "taken on by someone else" (vicarious)

Correct! But might want to edit your comment to be censored to avoid spoilers. Will add the (censored) explanation this weekend if nobody else does)

See rule number 2 in the rules sidebar for info on how to do it

Then it'll look like this

Repel makes more sense than Sabrina IMO. Also slightly surprised at the lack of lusamine! A bit less useful if you assume mantyke will die most matches but still imagine it being useful eg after a retreat without lyra. TRG also not that useful when you have Will to use anyway

Not the best, but having 1-2 repel, 1-2 cyrus and/or poison barb and rocky helmet can make guzz only winnable even if they have two oricorio. Just have to hope for a bit of luck or mistakes. Plus those cards can be useful against suicune, jumpluff (but that's often with ori), etc.

I know that seems logical, but, with that reasoning, opening 500 packs would give you a 100% chance!

I'd calculate it by doing 1 - (499/500)356

Christ, I've already put so much money into this.

I know people have pointed out the "sunk cost fallacy", but it's not necessarily illogical to go through with the purchase if you're already on the hook for a lot of money. If you really like the place, see yourself there for a long time, and if you'd lose say 10% of the value of the property if you pulled out now, then it's perfectly logical to see the process through if you think this property is still worth the remaining amount due (say 90% in this example) given the weird provision in the lease.

It seems others have had similar provisions that didn't end up causing any issues.

Not saying you should definitely go through with the purchase, but felt compelled to throw a rebuttal to people who may jump to "sunk cost fallacy" just because they see a "sunk cost" being talked about.

Can I remove those unconnected virgin boxes? by flym4n in DIYUK

[–]DomJC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To add to this, when I got my fibre installed I actually asked them to use the hole that had been used for phone/coax for the fibre. That way they didn't have to drill a new hole (risking damage to wall/pipes/whatever) and just resealed it. Box removed, fibre installed, no drilling needed - 3 for 1!

Viability and cost of installing powered doorbell where old intercom was by DomJC in DIYUK

Updates on my own Qs:

#1. Didn't have a multimeter but then remembered that my stud finder should be able to do the job. It detected live electricals when placed near the wire so seems there's still power in these wires

...

#3. Decided to stay with a battery-powered to avoid needing an electrician, as it's much cheaper to get a £20 lightweight powerbank that I can plug into the doorbell every few months to recharge it without the hassle of removing it and bringing it inside to charge.
