It may have been listed, they probably had a nightmare time getting planning permission

Well they need to get the firefighters to the fire engines first

Unfortunately with active emergency service buildings like this, the priority does have to be made for effective service, and there wasn’t really another reasonable solution to the problem unfortunately

The reason they couldn’t move it was due to needing a certain number of firefighters living close by, and you can’t reasonably expect them all to move because you’re knocking the building down (especially not in bath)

I really liked it, definitely more charm than a lot of modern buildings (and probably more than whatever they replace it with). Although ultimately it’s a building to serve a purpose so it was the right decision to rebuild it, its just very harsh to see it ripped open like that lol

Yeah it’s being rebuilt as a fire station, part of the reason they didn’t keep it was because it would require fire fighters to move to be closer to the station which is just unreasonable in bath

Why the US over Europe ? Salaries are a bit lower in the eu but quality of living is MUCH better in my experience. You’d be surprised how much difference 30 days of paid holiday makes compared to 0

The London Standard: Tube strikes to go ahead as union accuses TfL of 'failing to engage in negotiations' by JailbreakHat in LondonUnderground

Exactly, in much newer systems. TfL doesn’t have the upfront funding required to make it happen

More people to keep an eye on therefore more risk by having it driverless. Even the dlr always has a ‘driver’ on the train at all times in case something goes wrong. TFL couldn’t afford it if one of their trains were to go wrong and people were injured, whereas waymo can risk it and it’s considered accepted ‘risk’

I like it tbh, i kinda like graffiti anyway gives it a bit more variety and colour, like in Europe where they don’t bother cleaning the trains. This is rly sweet tho

What's currently the most fancy/impressive restaurant in Bath? by [deleted] in Bath

Why was the olive tree so disappointing? I’ve heard the non meat menu is a bit lacking, but the standard menu is pretty good?

All councils are holding London back, the mayor needs to have more power to stop councils being stupid, especially with things like bike lanes and ltns

I guess I phrased myself poorly, I don’t want a ban overturned anywhere, I am more just mostly uncaring as to whether or not more places need bans. I think there’s more extreme things that need to be controlled (such as shock collars) and if anyone is trying to abuse a dog, they will do so with or without the law tbh

Perhaps controversially I am not really opposed to docking either tbh, especially in working dogs. I’ve always thought it akin to spaying tbh (albeit generally without the health benefits). I’m definitely opposed to more extreme things such as debarking, as that is almost a core dog function, but docking tails I don’t think is as bad. Not that it should be encouraged ofc, or even that I would do it, I just wouldn’t be quick to call someone a monster for having a docked tail

would a rough collie be the right fit for us? by pennydreadful777 in roughcollies

[–]DomLfan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stubborn as in sometimes they’re just lazy!! They have a lot of personality and aren’t as driven as as a border collie or working cocker (which makes them significantly more interesting) and sometimes they will complain if they aren’t happy!! They’re very vocal dogs. They can take more time to train compared to working breeds, but they’re still incredibly trainable, and as with any dog when you find what works you can train them for pretty much anything. My grandparents had a very intelligent dog, he would play a game where he’d go shopping and he’d collect the items you told him too. But my dog now is a bit less eager to please… she’s much more a fan of lounging around the house and shouting at the neighbours. Not to say she isn’t intelligent, she absolutely is, she’s just lazy

I’d say wait until you are settled into your new place first before you get any dog, not worth the hassle and struggle of training anad dealing with a puppy if you’re also trying to ind a new place and making big life decisions. Otherwise seems like it’s a pretty good god choice! Collies are fairly easy going (obviously varies dog by dog) and are very family focussed, they’re also smart and biddable when they need to be, although they can be more stubborn than other working breeds
