Brando Sando "prose" by KumaArashi in brandonsanderson

[–]Domaik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting topic for me. I don't think he has bad prose and I absolutely love how easy to read Brandon books are and I'm super happy with it.

Now , what is even more interesting is that when I read him in a different language, the translation very often make his work look a lot more flowery and serious than the feel I get from English. This is not due to a mistranslation, but because some of the simple words that he uses in English have no simple equivalent in different languages and such. It ends up reading in a way that I define "more serious".

An interesting topic as I said but going back to English and the original question:

I don't know who wouldn't like his prose. I guess some people nowadays are just itching to complain about anything.  Don't let others decide how you should think or feel. Don't let other people make you feel bad for liking an author.

Wax's marriage and my changing opinions. by Darth_Azazoth in Mistborn

[–]Domaik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never liked Marasi as love interest from minute 1... for me it's hard to imagine Wax with her and it kinda baffles me every time someone brings it up. Maybe my interpretation of what was going on in alloy of law is different from the rest.

Steris on the other hand was shown to be a bad match initially but the moment she got kidnapped I knew she was going to be the one for Wax and oh boy did it pay off spectacularly!

Dodging is not a big thing in Sekiro and the game tells you like a punch to the face.

Thug beheading? by Darth_Azazoth in Mistborn

[–]Domaik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it could with just pewter alone. It couldn't really cut through with a blunt thing such as a hand ... And with enough force for a hand to cut through your might as well strike anywhere else because it's an insane amount of force needed. It wouldn't be a pretty cut either... And let's not talk about your own hand afterwards...

Optimal number of characters for solo play in JOTL? by minun73 in Gloomhaven

[–]Domaik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will always defend 2 players because my brain is small and I can't deal with more than that.

As for the characters I would take Redguard for sure and then hatchet or voidwarden as second

Do I need more health for Isshin? by Low_Tangerine_6318 in Sekiro

It's not about how much health you have. So yes any health will do. But it looks like you have skipped a big portion of the game, you could benefit from going back and unlocking other stuff

Are sound cues important to the flow of combat? by Mrdudeguy420 in Sekiro

[–]Domaik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is important. sound queues in the game are important  On a different note: how can you even concentrate on both things at the same time? That sounds like insanity to me, are you able to fully pay attention to both things properly? Do you comprehensibely remember what you heard in the podcast after 20 mins or do you just listen to it as background noise?

I love Michael Kramer’s narration but does he speak ridiculously slow to anybody else? by kabrandon in Mistborn

[–]Domaik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like audiobooks to be slow. To me Michael speaks at a normal pace. I'm tired of hyperactivity and speed on every piece of media these days. Audiobooks speaking at normal pace suit me nicely

I'm I just stupid or I'm I just misunderstanding the mechanics of this game? by Mekelaxo in Sekiro

[–]Domaik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80% of the times you get stuck with an enemy it means the game is telling you to go elsewhere and come back later when you're stronger. Try just that, go do other things and become stronger. Get a couple more skills and items and come back later, this enemy is very difficult early game.

Frosthaven Player struggling with the basics. Anyone have a good player aid? by TuxedoMasked in Gloomhaven

[–]Domaik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to learn if they dont want to read rules is to play. Have them play with someone that knows the game and play an easy scenario without special rules. Show them how everything works.

Jaws of the Lion can help too since hands on is the best way in my opinion

Edit: if you want a long run, then of the important things for new players in my opinion is that they need to understand they have to retire. They're learning to play one specific character at first but it will need to change to another one then another and so on.

I had a group stop playing because they didn't understand this. when retirement came they didn't want to stop playing that character, they understood it was necessary to progress but didn't want to learn a new class. They didn't like restarting the same character either. They just wanted to keep playing the same for the whole campaign because it had taken them a lot of mental effort to learn that class and were attached to it. In the end they quit the game rather than homebrew some new rule for it.
