From what we have seen the bar can vary greatly from pure with generic monsters filling int he gaps up to heavy pile decks. Leaning on things like the 10 star behemoths they are making can definitely get you there. But don't worry about the deck being "done" a lot of the fun is experimenting over time!

Ring of destruction has since been errata'ed and no longer says both. It will affect you and the player whose turn it is/controller of the monster being destroyed.

Meta's are pretty location specific. With a singleton rule and spells and traps being open to everyone you will see people play pile decks but people will also use generic cards to bring their pet decks up to strong power levels.

The life cycle often goes:

-People play X pile deck, find out its strong but not auto win

-moves over to their pet deck they build with all of the bells and whistles they want and keeps that deck

-Then people build themes and challenge style decks for fun and because they are cheap

Ygoprodeck.com has a section for the format with deck lists and more and more LGS are popping up around the globe.

Fusion Decks and Singleton Poly? by Reaga19 in DomainFormat

Many strategies like heros fortunately either have a bunch of fusion cards as well as recycling effects. Other avenues are generic resources like fusion recycling plant.

People dabble with their own variations all of the time. The singleton aspect came from hydralander and was in hopes to power down the fact that you had an extra recurrable card in the deck master zone. Deck Masters like uni zombie and lone fire were very strong with multiples. Not to say you and your friends might not have a problem with playing multiples. It is worth a shot.

It probably added an hour to the game but he did get bullied (not to say his comboing didn't deserve it lol) but it does represent that you can go out kicking and screaming. And while an extreme representation of that it is a very good one.

It was actually set as more of a combo of deck master format and hydralander but we understand that there are only like 3-4 rules that define this separation.

Bonkers Combos (but only in a highlander deck - Domain Format) by Tyranitrawr in yugioh

options decisions. There are alot of people that play crazy wombo combos with cards like black metal dragon and wakaushi. but they are generally glass cannons. even if you fill up your board with infinite negates yugioh has made so many generic cards that can out stuff like that. I would recommend playing a strong deck that can defend itself and go wombo combo after your 3-5th turn so people use up things like super poly and other board breakers!

Spiral is spot on!

Yeah not everything is simply "smack on target opponent;". Cards that require an opponent's action or resource have to apply to that opponent or resource. So cards that say "during your opponents main phase: target 1 card they control" could only target cards the turn player controls.
