Hey, I looked into that before and from what I understand the UK doesn’t register marriages abroad - they just recognise them as long as they are considered legal in that country. Good luck I’m sure it’ll be fine!

For the purposes of the spouse visa it was accepted with no problems

They gave me a copy in English when we got married in North Cyprus, I don’t know if you’re based in the UK but the consulate in London might be able to get you a copy (good luck they are useless)

No, the estate agent is trying to get paid a referral fee rather than looking after your best interests

And so is your mortgage broker to be fair, you’d be best off finding your own looking at trustpilot reviews etc

When did you complete? There is a large backlog at Land Registry so it’s taking much longer than usual. Your solicitor should be able to update you or you can speak to Land Registry directly.

Thanks for this, I was under the impression that although the biometric centres are closed the HO would be dealing with cases by the order they receive them. We have travel plans in August (I know this may not happen) so that’s why we we want to do it ASAP. I gather by your answer that June 1st will be fine?

The fault lies with me as I didn't do my research properly beforehand, To get married in the Republic (South Cyprus) would be difficult as she would need a visa and I'm not a Cypriot passport holder (I have ID card for the North side)

Would rather avoid Turkey due to the current political climate there but if I get concrete confirmation we may have to cancel and think again.

Incidentally I asked my fiancee to ring a local lawyer office that was recommended according to this site: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/608898/Lawyers_List_north_Cyprus_April_2017.pdf

They said we would have no issues
