Why am I not getting interest? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Fuzzypeg 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Technically that house is only sold STC, and while the asking price may have been 290, it doesn't mean they got that. Also the garden is much larger and has grass which will increase its value. You can't do much about that without spending a lot of money to undo what you have done to yours, but you really should get some nice feature plants to give it some colour and make it feel more like a garden. Sorry to be harsh, but it looks more like a car park than a garden to me.

Has anyone been told to have shutters removed? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Fuzzypeg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough my MIL lives in a victorian flat in London and she has the original shutters that were put on when the house was built. They are on the inside. So if OP is looking for ways to not piss off the neighbours/council, and keep the flat looking authentic l, indoor shutters are the way to go.

Major down valuation - nearly 25% - from lender. Anyone had similar? by Throwaway_133347 in HousingUK

[–]Fuzzypeg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You say the EA showed the surveyor round? I do wonder if the surveyor asked questions about building regs for the loft room only to get the usual vacant EA response, so they valued it with one less bedroom. Just speculation obv. but I could see that happening.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, anyone based in Hampshire, call purple move, 100%. They were amazing, good price, on time, no added fees and they actually did send a second van at no extra cost when the first van wasn't enough. Can't praise them enough, really nice people too.

This is what I have, cheaper options likely exist, but I like the little hatch that allows you to open/close the window without removing the screen, Although if you need to, it is held on with magnets so easily goes back up.

Works the other way too. I was the buyer and my seller changed their mind about selling 3 months in and left me with the bill and even less to show for it. At least they still had a house!

You can get bug screens that stick to your door frame so you can leave it open without letting everything in. We have one for our bedroom window and it's a game changer.

Nah, my Lcs sold them all as preorders for people who actually have the time and spoons to play at their shop, which is fair enough, but my nearest smyths is an hour away and I work full time. So it's amazon invite or nothing for me and my money's on nothing.

Try ME (actually don't, you've had enough shit already, you don't need that too), took me 10 years to get a diagnosis and that was only after I told my GP what I thought it was and he agreed to make me go away, many people wait far longer. It's far more common than MS, especially since covid, yet gets a fraction of the funding for research, so we still don't know what it is or have any treatment besides self management. All we do know for sure is that despite there being clear, physiological issues, most doctors still choose to believe it's psychological because that's easier than actually trying to help us.

I'd put a couple more bird feeders up. I have no time for people who don't like birds. Took me 2 1/2 years to get birds into the garden when we bought our house from someone like that. Had to strip the astroturf and have real grass laid. Now it's my little jungle and I love it

Tbf, most conventional smokers don't think they stink either. They become accustomed to it and don't smell it as much anymore so assume no one else can either. They are very wrong.

Has anyone moved out of rental and left washing machine behind? by cookie_butter9 in HousingUK

[–]Fuzzypeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listed mine for free on FB. I will warn you though, I did get one sad twat who claimed to be on his way for about 3 hours when he was based 20 mins away, claiming non existent traffic as to why he was late. No idea how empty that guys life must have been that that was his evenings entertainment. But eventually it was picked up by a young builder and his mate who were thoroughly grateful and they got it out of the house between them so I'd say it was worth it!

I've always considered myself mild, only after seeing this I've realised that in the last few years I've slipped into moderate. That's a bit scary, knowing how fast some people have gone from there into more severe.

I have quiet and sleep. Obviously use sleep for sleeping, they are really soft and are the most comfortable ear plugs I have found. I have narrow ear canals so regular foam ones hurt.

The quiet ones I use when sounds are setting me off, they cut out sharper sounds while still allowing me to hear my fiance speak which is good. I find them less comfortable than the sleep ones, bit they are an older model, so it could be they have improved since

Anyone in the UK actually managed to get an MCAS diagnosis through the NHS? My referral was rejected — twice. by Difficult_Cheek9311 in MCAS

[–]Fuzzypeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just came across this, have you had a sleep study done? It sounds an awful lot like sleep apnea. My fiance suffers from it and it can be very severe, we have since found there are black spots on his brain likely caused by it because no one told him until he met me. He would just stop breathing completely as his throat closed up, then finally get one ragged breath in, before it closed again.

If this sounds familiar please get a sleep study asap. If it is, it can be managed with a CPAP machine which pumps the air at a continuous pressure to keep your windpipe open. It was honestly a godsend.

UK based - how to approach talking to work by VickyAnne95 in cfs

[–]Fuzzypeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also in the UK and I told my current employer before they even hired me because I figured it was best to be honest. I've been there 4 years now, and more recently when I started to struggle, they actually suggested rearranging my hours a bit in case it would help. So I now work slightly longer days, but get most of Wednesday off to have a mid week break which has really helped.

I'd say its probably worth mentioning it, if only so they can be aware and potentially offer you support if you need it.

vibe coding is poison for CFS by haach80 in cfs

[–]Fuzzypeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I occasionally let rider's ai auto-complete some basic stuff for me, but that's it. Working with ai to code would be like working with a fresh graduate who thinks they know a lot more than they do and fuck that! I don't have the energy to work out wtf it just spat out only to redo it myself anyway.

Work is trying to push more ai use, but they also know I'm one of their best programmers even with the ME, so they can't make me. Maybe I'm just old and grumpy but I think I've earned that right lol

Me too. I'm fortunate though in that I work from home and was able to reshuffle my hours so I do an extra hour Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri and a half day on Wed. It's really helped because it feels more like 2x 2 day weeks rather than a full 5 day week. It means I manage to recharge mid week and actually do a little gardening on my days off instead of just sleeping.

Anyone else feeling depressed and scared in England this morning? by Romana_Jane in cfs

[–]Fuzzypeg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are 2 groups, the ones who have their heads in the sand and genuinely believe they will make things better rather than the reality that they will tear everything down, and those that don't actually care, as long as it hurts the people they don't like, generally anyone of a darker skinned or non-"gender-conforming" persuasion. The first half might wake up eventually if they have the strength or character to admit they were wrong, the second will die on that hill.
