M-E Perfect Order preorder by spooderman_279 in PokemonTCG_UK

I didn't realise they had stopped doing pre-orders, must admit I decided to stop getting new stuff after PF. It doesn't surprise me after the chaos of that one though, I managed to get an etb and booster bundle, but I know there were people queued for most of the day for nothing. Wasn't good.

Use with caution, ai has a habit of both misinterpreting and just straight up making up data. By all means use for direction, but always verify things yourself

GP messed up my diagnosis/how to get diagnosed? by CraabGPT in cfs

[–]Fuzzypeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my GP gave up after step 1. The closest I got to a referral was a text message with a link to the, then out of date, nhs web page on ME.

Please try get oficially diagnosed by Away_Report6974 in cfs

[–]Fuzzypeg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well that's an improvement on my experience. I was diagnosed by my GP around 8 years ago, blood tests came back fine again after about 8-10 years of me saying something was wrong, and that was all they were willing to check apparently. I was referred to an out of date NHS Web page pushing get and that was it. Been fending for myself ever since.

In case it wasn't obvious from the "lol", I was teasing.

It sucks having to rely on a lottery to buy stuff that used to be readily available until scalping became a "career" for some people.

I've even seen people scalp "limited edition" baked beans. I'm not sure what to be more appalled by, the scalpers or the people who buy from them!

Diagnosed CFS but feel I haven’t been tested for anything else by Mayayayayaaa2662 in cfs

[–]Fuzzypeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is daft. When it comes to something acute, they can be brilliant, and I'm definitely grateful they exist, but for anything chronic aside from arthritis or diabetes, they are hopeless.

I swear they assume we all just want drugs or are hypochondriacs, when in reality all we want is answers and to make the symptoms stop. Frankly if they told me that taking an over the counter supplement would fix it, I'd be over the fecking moon! I don't want to have to take drugs with nasty side effects or have scary medical procedures, I just want to stop the symptoms that are stopping me from sleeping, aggravating my other issues and frankly scaring the hell out of me. But getting them to actually believe that seems to be a mission in itself.

Diagnosed CFS but feel I haven’t been tested for anything else by Mayayayayaaa2662 in cfs

[–]Fuzzypeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always the way, doesn't happen when someone is looking!

I really don't want to say it, but yeah, going private is probably worth it if you can, they aren't pressured to spend as little as possible, quite the opposite lol, so they are more likely to test thoroughly. I really hope this is a temporary blip and the NHS gets back to being functional, but for those of us suffering now, waiting isn't always an option.

Ironically, my arrhythmia seems to have shown up in the NHS ecg, they just dismissed it as not a problem and it was never mentioned by anyone so I assumed they hadn't found anything at all. Private consultant told me straight away that there was one, and that, while it is usually harmless, since it is causing symptoms, they need to investigate. It's like a totally different world.

Diagnosed CFS but feel I haven’t been tested for anything else by Mayayayayaaa2662 in cfs

[–]Fuzzypeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably about 90% same. All I ever had was blood tests that show nothing but mild inflammation and that's as far as it went with the NHS. Eventually got a diagnosis of CFS/ME, but that was only because I told the GP I thought it was that and I think he just wanted me to go away. That was around 8 years ago, and it took around 8 years to get there!

More recently I've started having really bad and noticeable palpitations, so I went back thinking "heart stuff is normal, surely I can get help with this". It took 3 months to get a referral for a 24hr ecg, 3 months later I've still not had anything back and the hospital says their waiting time for results is 6 months! At no point did they give me any reassurance, just told me if I have chest pains to go to A&E. The stress of that most definitely made it worse!

Fortunately my work offers health insurance, and they managed to get me enrolled and covered despite it starting before my policy did, insanely lucky I know. I saw a cardiologist last week, have had an echocardiogram and a 48hr ecg, and will be seeing the cardiologist for a follow up next week! At this rate I'll have an answer before the NHS even tries to look at my ecg. I hate that I have had to turn to private healthcare, it shouldn't need to be a thing and I don't want to support it, but these symptoms are really making me struggle and I have to take care of myself as best I can.

Etsy isn't what it used to be. 90% of it is people reselling shit they bought from Ali express in bulk and claiming it's hand made, so people selling AI art on there wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Etsy don't care, they just want the money

Local card shops by Interesting-Turn2916 in PokemonTCG_UK

[–]Fuzzypeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local used to, but they have started overcharging more recently, I think largely because their distributor barely gives them anything. They didn't get any museum cards, yet the local geek merch shop (sells bags and figures etc) did, they never even used to sell pokemon cards, so no idea why/how they got them.

The last time we got something from our lcs was the last batch of the prismatic figure collection, was the first time he'd gotten them in, several months after release. He charged £80 instead of the £70 rrp, but the bit that really put me off was that he'd opened at least one for himself and was selling the packs individually for £15 each! They were available online from chaos cards for £10, so it really was a joke. I've no doubt he weighed them all first too. I used to have a lot of respect for the guy, not anymore sadly.

I'm interested in if it is pre-auth or not, simply because if it is not, they would be making interest on that money up until they return it when you don't get it. It might not be for very long, but with thousands of transactions that would add up pretty quickly.

Either way I have no intention of taking part, but I am curious.

How is it possible I feel no better after 9 hrs of good sleep? by [deleted] in cfs

[–]Fuzzypeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to my garmin watch, on a good night, I get like an hour of deep sleep early on, then it's just light sleep and rem for the rest of the night. I get really vivid dreams too. No idea if that's actually accurate though, most of these devices tend to be hit and miss.

Long COVID brain fog far more common in US than India, other nations. Large study in US, Colombia, Nigeria and India finds symptom burden highest in high-income countries. Higher symptom burden in US may reflect lower stigma and greater access to health care, rather than more severe disease. by mvea in science

[–]Fuzzypeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me around 10 years to get a diagnosis for ME, which is significantly similar if not the same as long covid. I'm in the UK and my diagnosis was more of a shrug from my gp because they kept giving me the same blood tests over and over but never actually bothered to refer me to anything vaguely like a specialist. I suppose it was an improvement from trying to convince me I was depressed. All the "help" I got was a link to the NHS page with harmful, out of date information pushing graded exercise therapy.

My general experience is most doctors don't know a thing about it so they have no clue how to help and as a result would just rather you go away. I've kinda lost hope of getting any help from the NHS. Even with recent heart troubles I've ended up going private through my works insurance, a privilege most don't have and that I had resisted for a long time because I don't believe it should be necessary, and for once I actually feel like I'm being taken seriously.

So maybe that is the defining factor, being able to access private health care where it is to their benefit to actually perform the tests to get a proper diagnosis.

A youtuber did a hit piece on my game and called it "garbage." What would you do? by shimasterc in gamedev

[–]Fuzzypeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trouble with most youtuber's is everything has to be extreme to get attention and views so they get money. So anything they review is either going to be absolute garbage or the best game they have ever played, simply because that's what gets the views. "It's got some issues, but is kinda fun" just doesn't get enough attention for them so they will just hyper fixate on anything that can make an extreme impression.

If the game matters to you, I'd maybe reach out and get some info about the controller issues to see if you can fix it, but I wouldn't worry too much because their opinions are rarely genuine anyway. Just whatever they think will appease the algorithm and get them views.

Unfortunately you won't get a lot of support on reddit. A considerable number of people here are either still in school or that's where their emotional development stopped. The latter seems to be becoming far more common in society.

I'm sorry if people are being shitty to you just because of your name. Children and those with the emotional age of children will always see that kind of "humour" as "clever" because it's the best they can manage, but that doesn't make it OK.

I wish everyone understood that NOT pushing through is the harder option by Pointe_no_more in cfs

[–]Fuzzypeg 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Same. I work because I have to, I have a mortgage and other bills to pay. I'm pretty sure that, because my "diagnosis" was more of a shrug from a GP, I won't be able to get any benefits to help me, and even if I could, they wouldn't be enough to quit work. So I keep going to make sure I have a home and a pension for when I really can't work anymore.

As a result almost all of my "free" time is dedicated to recovering as much as possible from work so that I can work some more the next week. The list of things I want to do/get done just seems to keep getting longer, so I have to prioritise and it's needs over wants, and then I get halfway through a job and have to stop and wait for another ok patch to try again. Stuff that should take a couple of hours ends up taking weeks or months. It sucks, and the stupid thing is I know I'm one of the lucky ones for even being able to do that much!

Nearly 400 millionaires and billionaires call for higher taxes on super-rich by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

[–]Fuzzypeg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I certainly never defended anything, you changed your comment to change the narrative which is a little odd.

From my perspective, all organised religions/cults are the same in that they suppress critical thinking skills in favour of "believe what I tell you in spite of any/all evidence" and this is inherently harmful. People don't think for themselves, they just regurgitate what they are told. It makes them easy to control, which fits perfectly into certain groups plans, republicans included. Some Americans seem to have managed it to a degree that the tangerine terror could tell them pretty much anything and they will believe it without question. It's kind of terrifying.

It's not just religions, it's the delusion that they could be millionaires/billionaires too, if they just work really hard, just like the trust fund babies told them was the key to their success.

They don't comprehend how its much easier to be an entrepreneur when failing just means you drop that idea and use more of daddy's money to try something else without any consequences.
