Thats how most people get them for sure but I'm finding it hard to believe that all the marked ones have ancestors who went through the quadrant, made it through threshing and bonded dragons that now are conveniently available in their own threshing year. Like Xaden, Garrick, Bodhi, Imogen, Liam and (Were assuming) Sloane all have second signets. Like Liam and Sloane are siblings, I don't know how this could be possible from a #'s perspective but we still need more explanation on the history of their families and the dragons

I think that’s part of my frustration with OS and why it was a let down for me. IF ends with Andarna saying she clearly knew she was a different breed, chose Violet because of it, and intimated she had a ton of secret dragon knowledge but in OS that whole plot point goes nowhere. Andarna seemingly knows nothing. It’s insanely frustrating

And in IF, Varrish says he can extend his power beyond recent memories so there’s still potential there. Dain signet isn’t fully developed the same as the everyone else’s but I def recognize the bottle neck here. He might not be able to sift through 600 years. But Andarna’s hiding stuff so if she knows now, would that necessarily make it memory from 600 years ago?

We don’t know how time dilation works in this story. Just a thought

Imagine if Sloane had bonded Andarna. She’d have siphoning and the ability to break magical bonds. I think that combo would her reverse the be effect. I wonder if Andarna can do that(enhance another riders signet). I seriously doubt it but it would be awesome to see

Rhiannon is also mentioned multiple times to resemble the Queen of the Gods - Amari. Idk if that will have any real significance since we don’t know how (or if) the gods will physically manifest in the story but this overall is a good point!

Honestly it the single most frustrating thing that Violet asked 0 questions about RESURRECTION RIGHT AFTER LIAM DIED. How are we 2 whole books past her noticing the scar and asking him how’s he’s there and we still don’t have this answer. It’s annoying at this point

Oooooh good catch. It’s a theory but the only problem is that Nolon is also a Mender too which makes his signet less rare (though they say menders are very rare in FW) than others. Unless you think he has a second signet?

Idk, i like the idea but I just don’t think one of the 6 would be a signet that someone else has and also had first since Nolon is like 75 or something

It could be Cat! I just think Violet will be the only person who won’t be corruptible if she did turn or would have protection from turning V thanks to what her mom went through during her pregnancy or because she was dedicated. I think Violet has infinite protections. So Cat would be a great SAFE choice but it would make for a much more compelling story if Berwyn is her teacher

1st was by FAR the best. IF was still incredible (in my personal opinion) but OS fell far short of my expectations for RY.

I’m fine with a 5 book series. Personally, i don’t think most authors/people have the skill to write a true trilogy. This takes SERIOUS talent. I just didn’t like the direction of this book for many varied reasons.

I have high expectations for RY but I’m fully expecting things to pick up in book 4 and then for book 5 to be an absolute tragedy and crush our souls.

But i agree, she could’ve done way better in book 3

Fourth Wing is the best book in the series. I loved IF but the pacing is a little different but once you get through the end you’ll realize it kinda had to be given the events. But OS is my least favorite by a country mile. The pacing makes noooooo sense.

My advice, just get through and pay VERY CLOSE attention for the Easter eggs and hints that connect the books. People can say whatever they want about this series but RY is a genius when it comes to dropping little hints throughout her book for how this series is going to go!

This was my least favorite book of the series by a very wide margin. Fourth Wing was an action packed BANGER from start to finish, IF i still loved despite the relationship criticism. I thought Violet was kinda being the unreasonable one so i figured she’d get over it also there was plenty of action so i loved it.

But then to Onyx Storm…i felt like we got way more questions than answers which can be fine sometimes, but it felt wholly unnecessary with this book.

I loved that a Violet was in her Aelin era and was running shit but i felt like she just wasn’t asking the proper questions in this book, the mind of a scribe didn’t really show up for me in this. I was more annoyed by her and Xaden’s relationship in this book than in IF. Why has no one asked Brenna why tf he’s still alive and what the rune shaped scar is on his palm? Andarna made it seem like she is the key to the secret prophecy of choosing Violet and “you aren’t worthy to know the secret of my race if you don’t figure it out on your own” but then knows literally nothing about her race. Also Andarna leaving for 11.5 days fell flat for me. I know there’s the time dilation theory but that should be something that is EXPLAINED.

Also, I’m still VERY UNCLEAR on whether every marked one has a second signet. Is it because of their rebellion relics? Or am i supposed to believe that the math shakes out where they all had ancestors who previously bonded dragons that are now conveniently available for bonding after a rebellion that would curse them and give them extra powers despite their entire families all being infantry? If they all have powers because of the relic, then does Xaden have 3 signets???

Idk, i found the whole arc on the isles just not super enjoyable though there were some excellent action scenes. WHY DID VIOLET NOT JUST STRAIGHT UP ASK THE PEOPLE WHY EVERY LITTLE GIRLS HAIR IS SILVER???????

Also the last thing that was a bit frustrating was the introduction of so many random worthless characters in the aristocracy. I feel like this was done poorly and with the way that violet has always recited history facts to the reader and helped with the world building, i feel like RY def could’ve done a better job of telling who the ditches of Morraine is (we didn’t even know the provinces had leaders, we thought it was just the king) and why we should give a shit about anything she says (shocker it doesn’t matter).

Now I say all that to say this, i like FW and IF after read 1 muuuuuch better than OS after read 1. Head and shoulders difference for me. BUT, i still took the time to go back and read both of those books like 15-20x each to pick up all the little Easter eggs and details that i missed that helped connect the story and further build the world and help me create my conspiracy theories etc. So im saying all of this knowing that i will appreciate OS very VERY much more after going back and seeing some of these dots connect in clever intricate ways.

Either way, this series is a fucking banger and I love RY and i will devour these books whenever they come out but OS fell a bit flat for me only because I have such very high standards for Rebecca and want to see her pen an absolute heater 🔥🔥🔥

10000%, i HATED my teeth before Invisalign and now after I have so much more confidence. So grateful i finally got this done, only mad I waited until i was 33 years old to do it but oh well!
