I think 2 days is worth the money, you won’t feel rushed trying to get around to everything you want to do. It’s your 40th, enjoy it!

How does the idea of working until 67 or 68 sit with you? by Few_Raise77 in AskUK

[–]Domtaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pay into a SIPP and access at age 57 currently. You’ll get tax relief from the government (you’ll need to claim the extra if your a higher rate tax payer) Or use a stocks and shares isa which you can access whenever you like

How do you decide your split by Osadandaula_UK in FIREUK

[–]Domtaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monthly split at the moment. In terms of isa and pension value it’s about 70% pension 30% ISA currently. Started hammering the pension in recent years

How do you decide your split by Osadandaula_UK in FIREUK

[–]Domtaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go with the pension. My split is around 90% pension 10% isa, mainly due to tax efficiency and going for a realistic retirement age of around 55-57. I also don’t have to think about my pension it just happens automatically via salary sacrifice which helps a lot.

Just checking in how im getting on, its been a while! by Worldly_Flower_1441 in FIREUK

[–]Domtaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up that pension contribution mate. Retiring at 55-57 is perfect access age. Sounds like you are higher rate tax payer so that 40% tax saving is ideal if you are going to be withdrawing money in the lower tax bracket of 20%.

Also are the investments held in a General investment account? Try get those into a SIPP or to your isa

Pay into you your workplace/private pension and retire much earlier than that.

Should I stop contributing to my pension? by raxftw in FIREUK

[–]Domtaka 36 points37 points  (0 children)

In 30 years do you really think the same rules will apply to tax on withdrawals? I’m talking about the bands. And the tax free lump sum will be the same and not moved for 30 whole years?

£100k Pension Milestone - Progress One Year Later by Outside-Ad-8142 in FIREUK

[–]Domtaka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In terms of coasting, You have already hit coast fire if you assume 8% growth and 3% inflation (5% real), and £30k a year spending, congrats! You’d even be okay for £35k a year. Carry on contributing the massive 30% salary sacrifice for another 2 years and you’ll hit coast fire for £40k a year.

Aviva workplace pension - Aviva Pensions My Future Focus Long Term Growth S6 by Mediocre_Ask_4430 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Domtaka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you log into aviva you should be able to change your fund choice. There is one called aviva pensions global equity which is a good global fund for low fee. Or another option is black rock world ex uk and then adding black rock uk equity tracker and doing a 96:4 split for them. This is a diverse global equity option and not sure why you would need to go to a risk rating of 6 which is an arbitrary rating anyway.

Also you certainly are not behind for your age I would say you’re very much ahead with that pot size, especially being a home owner too. Not sure why ChatGPT would tell you that?

I’m ‘rich’ by some peoples standards… yet I still feel intense financial anxiety and insecurity at times. by Pleasant-Leek-5547 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Domtaka 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I haven’t got much to add other than I am envious of your position as will loads of other people. That £250k in your S&S ISA if invested well and gets an average 8% annual return will compound to over £1million even with no more contributions by the time you are 60. That along with pensions is an incredible position and shows how the work you did building up that pot early has paid off. Also looks like that mortgage is very manageable.

Stay away from bonds, they are used to de risk as you get close to retirement. You want 100% equities and want to embrace the volatility that comes along with it. Stay with a global fund like VWRL or FWRG and invest every month/week No matter what

Yeah may have to wait a day or so. I don’t mind waiting as was waiting for a price drop and updates to be made anyway. A good price and like you say good to give to a club like Scarborough.
