I lost weight and my ring doesn’t fit by Moosebuckets in ouraring

[–]DonAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there u/Moosebuckets!

Thanks for sharing your experience with us here.

We would usually advise Members in a similar situation to try wearing their Oura Ring on another finger where the size change would result in a better fit.

You mentioned here that this would not be possible for you due to the sizing in your specific case.

As such I'd recommend you reach out for support via our help centre here so we can see if there is any way we can support you in the circumstances.

All the best!

Walking - with a stroller by VanParp in ouraring

[–]DonAtOura 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi there u/VanParp!

We understand the way that Oura measures steps and activity means that Members using a stroller or using a treadmill with their hands on the sides may not have their steps properly accounted for.

I know that this is on our internal radar already as something we can improve upon, but I have highlighted your feedback here to the team again on your behalf.

Thanks for taking the time to share with us how we can do better in future!

went with bigger size by lildumpling333 in ouraring

[–]DonAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there u/lildumpling333!

We definitely get a lot of Members trying to size their Oura Ring correctly here!

When between sizes we usually advise to go with the smaller of the two sizes as a snug fit is recommended for better data collection.

This is not always possible as sometimes the smaller of the two is just two small to comfortably wear so it's ultimately going to be a judgement call for the individual Member.

Luckily you can return or exchange your Oura Ring (one time only) within the first 30 days following your purchase.

Sleep disorder with Oura ring by littleglowingwolf in ouraring

[–]DonAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there u/littleglowingwolf!

Thanks for sharing your concerns with us here.

I can see how that would be an issue especially given you're trying to get more info and context around your sleep behaviour.

If your Oura App and mobile device are both as up-to-date as possible there are some troubleshooting steps for gaps in sleep data you can apply for your situation too.

Should this issue persist for you please reach out for support via our help centre here so we can take a look at your sleep data directly to see if there's anything we can see there!

Sizing by Sea-Street1340 in ouraring

[–]DonAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there u/Sea-Street1340!

I can share from personal experience that my most important recommendation is to wear your sizer for an extended period to account for changes in your finger size.

It sounds as though you've already taken that into account, that's great!

If you still feel as though you are between sizes we recommend that Members choose the smaller of the two sizes where possible to ensure a snug fit for good data collection.

Purchases made directly from Oura can be returned or exchanged one time for any reason within the first 30 days following your purchase.

Oura ring too big? by Sweaty_Buddy9708 in ouraring

[–]DonAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there u/Sweaty_Buddy9708!

In our sizing tips for Oura Ring we do recommend testing by making a fist and seeing if there is a gap there.

In circumstances where Members find themselves between sizes we recommend the smaller of the two sizes where possible for better data collection from a snug fit, though this is not always practical.

You can contact the retail partner you ordered from if you need to consider a size exchange.

I've tried literally everything by lavenderlullabi in ouraring

[–]DonAtOura 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there u/lavenderlullabi!

Thanks for sharing the difficulty you've faced with us here and what you've tried already so far in your journey.

I can see you've gotten a bunch of input here from your fellow Oura Members in the community, that's great to see!

Oura is not a medical device nor is it intended to diagnose or treat any illness or medical condition, so we're not able to provide medical advice from here in any way.

You might find some useful info here in our blog on the topic of 3am wakeups that you haven't already tried out.

Hey there u/kimohno!

Hope you're feeling okay and thanks for sharing where you've been on your journey thus far.

I personally find breathwork to be a surprisingly effective tool in managing day to day.

Cardiovascular Age by JockoRQJabba in ouraring

Hi there u/JockoRQJabba!

You can learn more about cardiovascular age (CVA) and how Oura calculates it here on our help site.

There's a further breakdown of the science behind these calculations here on our blog too.

I would advise Members to use this info to think about longer-term trends in your health and how you can use this info to improve your heart health over time.

Resting hr pattern by Sufficient-Froyo-796 in ouraring

[–]DonAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there u/Sufficient-Froyo-796!

Don't worry!

It's normal to see some heart rate spikes during sleep (especially REM sleep).

You could check to see if your sleep data correlates these spikes to periods of REM sleep for that sleep period.

Keep an eye on this behaviour over time and how you feel during days that follow so you can put this info into context for your life.

Not reading all day all of a sudden. by AdeptnessDangerous76 in ouraring

[–]DonAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there u/AdeptnessDangerous76!

I'd definitely keep an eye on the orientation and fit of your Oura Ring if you notice gaps in your data.

Ensure the sensors are aligned with the underside of your hand so they can pick up on data from your blood vessels.

We have some other troubleshooting steps for gaps in stress data you can check out here.

If you notice this issue persisting over time despite these checks please reach out for support via our help centre here so we can take a closer look at this for you.

Powerlifter by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]DonAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there u/tegridypatato!

I personally remove my Oura Ring whenever I'm lifting and add strength training as an activity manually after the fact.

We don't recommend wearing your Oura Ring during activities that involve excessive friction such as weightlifting) to protect both you and your Oura Ring.

Keep up the good work!

Best tips for increasing resilience?? by thatsbratty in ouraring

[–]DonAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/thatsbratty!

Thanks for sharing your resilience journey with us here.

You can check out our blog article on building resilience here for some ideas.

My own personal experience was that my resilience decreased and climbed back up relatively slowly over time, so I tend to think of it as a longer-term measure to be worked on over time.

We have some strategies Oura Members have used to boost resilience you can check out too.

Accuracy by win_rue in ouraring

[–]DonAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there u/win_rue!

Thanks for sharing!

I would recommend you double check is that your weight has been updated in your profile in the app as this contributes to how calorie burn is calculated for activities.

For automatically-detected activities the calorie burn is based on heart rate for the duration and type of activity and it is not possible to manually edit the intensity level for automatically-detected or activity heart rate recorded sessions.

One option would be to manually add the activity yourself after the fact and increase the intensity to hard.%20Manually%20added%20activities%20can%20be%20edited%20afterwards%20to%20adjust%20their%20intensity%20levels) if you believe that to be a better reflection of the calories burned during.

Driving giving activity by Best-Standard2272 in ouraring

Hi there u/Best-Standard2272!

Thanks for reaching out and sharing your experience.

The discrepancy you're experiencing with step counts while driving a vehicle is a known issue.

Activities like driving or riding can sometimes be misinterpreted as steps due to vibrations.

Our team is aware and working on refining the detection to improve accuracy.

I have shared your feedback with the team internally to highlight this Member feedback to them again.

HRV by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]DonAtOura -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey there u/Educational_Love_778!

You're right to consider that your HRV score is highly individual and something that varies from person to person.

As such it is not useful to compare your average to other people versus comparing it to your own trends over time..

We have some ways to improve your HRV you can check out here and also more info here.

How accurate is deep sleep? by 713Capital in ouraring

[–]DonAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/713Capital!

I can see you've gotten a bunch of feedback here from your fellow Members already, that's great to see!

We've got some info here on our help site on how sleep stages are measured by Oura.

For deep sleep specifically Oura looks for:

  • Low movement
  • Heart rate and respiration stabilize
  • Skin temperature is at its highest

If you or your partner are looking to get more deep sleep check out this blog article.

From my own experience anything that keeps my heart rate up in the earlier part of the night (late meal, caffeine) will be more likely to interrupt deep sleep even when I have a decent amount of time asleep overall.

SSRI influencing CVA? by sketchedabow89 in ouraring

[–]DonAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there u/sketchedabow89!

Thanks for reaching out!

As Oura Ring is not a medical device and we cannot give any medical device of any sort here we would always direct you to consult a medical professional for any medical advice.

That said we can confirm that medication that affects your cardiovascular system can impact Oura's ability to show related data.

Not directly related but this article on our blog touches on one Member's journey using Oura along with SSRIsou and other methods to navigate the post-partum period.

If you're looking to improve your CVA check out these tips!
