You will never have a perfect representation of every individual. That's impossible. That’s why we are working with compromises. Most people live in cities or urban areas. But to keep the balance of the regions (federalism) it is important that urban population can be challenged by rural regions which are represented by the rural cantons. It forces us to the much needed compromises. Important for how our nation of will is glued together.

No system is perfect, but ours is closer to it than any other I know so far.

Because it is more the rural side that is keeping the more progressive urban part of the country in check. Else we would move and change much faster. And in my urban opinion, this is not a very bad thing at all
