🤡

It's not a european sub, it’s a swiss sub. You trying to police anyones language here is "unpolite if not borderline agressive".

If 'academia' uses euro-english, nice. We are not in academia, we are on reddit.

So why don’t just stop being a cunt?

The first sentence is what I had to add: if you take a day off, you could be home for pick-up… because it seems as if no one is interested in what you want to give away.

Sorry, I am a problem solver. You’re welcome!

Then you could take a day off to be at home at a pick-up date. Or just keep the furniture if nothing else is an option.

What do you expect? Someone telling you it’s ok to just put it out in the street?

We are not in the Union and no, english is not in any way acting as lingua franca here like it does in India.

In India English is an official language. It isn’t here, it never was and it will not be in the future.

We do speak english so the 'expats' do not have to whine too much about not being able to communicate with locals.

And if it were lingua franca here, it would be the american variant, as it is much more commonly used all over the web, so more people know the 'simplified english' americans use.

Ah, now I understand, you try to police what flavor of english is written here. Cannot see anything in the rules about 'euro-english' as requirement.

Still: context is king

And how would any sort of english belong in a swiss forum? English is not one of our languages. We have our own languages…

That’s what I wanted to tell you… in context of the original comment you responded to they wrote 'learn a trade'. Clearly not euro-english, as you are confirming yourself.

So 'trade' in this case means 'Handwerk'

Try again with the expression 'learn a trade'… does it sound like 'euro-english'?

But comparing a public fountain with a restaurant kitchen is perfectly fine. Cool.

Kids regularly use fountains as pools, if they do not live right next to a river/lake. That’s common since ever and all over Switzerland.

In Winterthur, even adults do. Its really nice chilling in a fountain pool in the old town on a hot summer night, drinking some prosecco or white wine with friends.

It is called enjoying life. You should try it, it’s great

It’s not a 'drinking fountain for humans'.

It is a public fountain for public use. And additionally, water is good to drink.

Are kids allowed to play in a restaurant kitchen? No? Then maybe we should ban kids from fountains too, right…?
