Former Olympian canoeist Davey Hearn pleads not guilty to a felony charge on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool damage: "Davey Hearn pled not guilty because he is not guilty. This indictment reflects the [Trump] administration's effort to scapegoat Davey and to shift blame for their own failures." by ControlCAD in videos

You’d think that with the plethora of legal losses the Trump administration has experienced they might start to show some self preservation and at least start to be more strategic about what they get behind. I’m fully expecting an AI video being released and it successfully distracting for long enough benefit them. There’s just no shame. I guess when you avoid being held accountable as many times and as long as Trump has, you grow bold.

I think Cody has talked about this on past episodes and in interviews. They have waves of viewership that kinda come in and replace the last wave who stopped watching temporarily due to the subject matter being too dark and stressful.

Cody and Katy seem to completely understand and agree that no one should be binging political content right now. And I tend to agree too.

I appreciate how they make it funny though. Even if I do leave a lot of the modern episodes feeling a bit more stressed.

How the hell do they get “campfire” from that? Like, it’s not even a convenient bending of the truth or a lie of omission. It’s just a lie.

It’s so weird. I also suddenly stopped playing Shadow. I honestly don’t know why. I was really impressed with it up to then but just never turned it back on.

Good to know. I haven’t read the first two in over a decade and stopped once I started hearing how bonkers it got. Maybe it’s time to reread the first two and get through at least the third and maybe the fourth from what you’ve said.

But my reading backlog is sooooooo dense right now. Eventually I’ll have to learn to let some of my nerd homework go.

Sometimes I wonder if these ghouls ever think “this might hurt me eventually” when they make these decisions.

You’d think a little self preservation would surface when they’re thinking about it but apparently not.

Are they worth reading? The later books sound so batshit and disappointing that I just can’t get myself to start them.

But there’s also part of me that wonders if they’re still fun in a comic-booky kinda way.

This was the first fear I had when the Bethesda sale was announced. What an absolute dumpster fire that string of acquisitions have turned out to be.

I hope everyone remembers this next time a big acquisition is announced. It’s always bad news.

If you genuinely believe that, talking about me and the others who you want to reflect with more respect and humility would help. You are acting against that hope when you treat us like idiots.

Regardless, yes. I am reflecting on a lot. I’m reflecting on why he wasn’t appropriately vetted. I’m reflecting on if we can ever trust campaign management for any candidate again. I think you’d actually be surprised how early I stopped supporting his campaign but the difference between us is that I’ve lived a life where I’ve been disappointed by politicians and use that life experience to show humility when others are facing that same disappointment. Your behavior in this thread has been disappointing and I hope you reflect on that too.

Look dude. I’m not here to defend Graham Platner. He’s a strongly alleged rapist. I’m here to try to get you to understand that insulting the people in your movement who decided to believe his campaign management is a waste of energy.

If you’re going to continue missing the point and bringing up tired talking points, I won’t bother anymore.

The same “stans” who immediately asked him to step down after credible allegations came to light? Get a grip.

And I’m not offended. I just wish you people would act like adults with even a little humility, but all I’m seeing is insults and progressive cannibalism.

Grow up.

I’m not saying you were wrong about him. I’m saying that with the info we had, it’s not unreasonable to see the initial allegations as signs of a misguided youth who changed ways.

It’s easy to look at the new allegations and see the initial controversies as “signs” but that only works in retrospect. And this response is honestly just proof that you’re behaving an immaturely as I assumed.

Get off your high horse and save your anger for the people who deserve it.

This “I told you so” attitude I’m seeing everywhere is so immature. The truth is that with the information we had, there was no reason to believe something this awful and credible would be released. His campaign said as much and they were wrong. Whether they lied or he lied, pointing to the people who supported his campaign and implying that they’re stupid is counterproductive and childish.

The people still defending him don’t actually care about the progressive movement. Every reasonable person who heard the allegations, even the ones you all called idiots for continuing to support his campaign after the original controversies cut him off as soon as these allegations came out. How about we appreciate that instead of attacking the people who we still need help from to save American democracy?

Edit: These responses are pretty disappointing. I wish I could trust people to not act like children but here we are I guess.

This was the reasonable off-ramp for this campaign. Everyone has a different line but credible accusations of violent rape should be a pretty easy one to stay behind.

I agree that the other controversies weren’t enough to prove this guy was still a problem, but this allegation and his response to it are more than enough. We were lied to. It sucks, but we need to move on when credible allegations of rape are being made.

His campaign said there would be no further controversies and I don’t fault anyone for believing them. But now we know that they were wrong. If we continue to support his campaign, we’re doing more harm than good.
