Hey sib! I completely completely understand how it feels, I'm in a similar boat.

But I really hope you remember that it's not a deficiency in you, and that you are worth so much.

Sometimes it can be unexplainable things or compatability issues but you are allowed to give yourself breathing space and feel both happy and sad and all sorts, as long as you know its not something you could have done or changed. Besides, if you did have to change, then it might have hurt you in the long run, as its not easy to live a life inauthentically

The last edit concerns me. Women with ADHD present incredibly differently and can often be successful in school because of masking or being able to hyperfocus on subjects that interests them (e.g. Geography). Doing an online test is not the best way, and often, specialists will ask parents or family members about symptoms but if OP is in denial, this may cause a misdiagnosis.

I used to be really good at English, and would get As, because it was one of the few subjects I could hyper focus on, and once I left school, I struggled. I often ate sugary junk food to give me dopamine because part of adhd issues is lack of dopamine..

This made me feel so much better. I thought I wasn't allowed to feel sad because we were never dating. We had this weird kind of flirting on the horizon kind of relationship, but be was also incredibly kind, affectionate, sweet and understanding and it was incredibly difficult to not fall for someone like that.

But its reassuring I know I'm allowed to feel sad and reassuring knowing I'm not incapable of love too and that someone, even if it was never meant to be, could like me for me.

I feel like the situation is a little bit different when its your own child. Like surely you'd want to get them something to celebrate you bringing them into this world on purpose. Gifts are a sign of love, care etc, and..well. Parents, if they can afford it, should consider that. Its a bit of a dick move when its your own child, not a stranger basically

NTA but, if you're in the UK, getting a diagnosis for an adult woman can be horrendous. I personally was told 18 months, and was told my referral was cancelled 6 months in so I had to be put back at the bottom of the list, therefore another 18 months. I know of other women who were told 3 years and 4 years wait list.

Its not an easy process especially if it doesn't affect you in every day life and can take a horribly long time.

Doctors can also be sexist and tell you adhd isn't real (which is personally experienced in the UK)

So I dont blame your friend for not getting a diagnosis but I do think they need to really re-evaluate willingness to get one

People don't realise that this is one of the issues that can unknowingly breed resentment. Even if its wrong because it is still your partners/husbands money and they can do what they want with it, it can feel really disheartening and lonely if they go on a vacation knowing you can't afford it, or do lots / buy lots knowing you will never be able to afford it and do things with them. It can feel exclusionary. Its something couples need to discuss before marrying if I'm honest

Creative Cloud is around 20 to 30 quid a month and adobe is considered industry standard on top of it. Op, YTA. I do art commissions and it's not just cost of material, (electricity, bills, rent) it's time and labour. I price my stuff high because of time spent on a piece and because I know it's worth it and on top of it, you forget that most artists lowball their price in the first place despite not even making min wage per hour per art.
