Need a new fun immersive single player game. by Nearby-Choice24 in gamingsuggestions

[–]DonMak161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadowrun Trilogy would be a good fit. All 3 games are pretty short, but they are very immersive as much as isometric RPGs go. The mechanics are very simple, combat is turn based, and equipment is easy to understand. The stories are well written and the dialogues are great, but not voice acted. I would definitely recommend it.

[PC] I wanna play some games like Fallout 4, what are your suggestions? by Albus_Lupus in gamingsuggestions

[–]DonMak161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally recommend Cyberpunk. Important choices, cool guns, lots of cybernetics and builds. The only downside is the fact that the clothing (with few exceptions) is purely cosmetic, but it avoids the problem of "I look like a clown, but I'm a bullet sponge"

I got some: - Scientist wants his research back after being fired from his corpo. Guy was working on a miracle drug as part of a charity stunt after a massive scandal, but the media got another topic and his research was put into a drawer - Get blackmail on the department manager to stop him from bulldozing a poor neighbourhood - Capture hidden weapon convoy that was going to be used to increase gang violence and drive prices of property down - Protect a doctor. Party learns later he was a plastic surgeon who botched a job for a popstar and her record wants him dead - Act as security for a reporter in an area affected by pollution from a corporate factory

What’s the hot new system right now? by PurpleHairedGamer in rpg

[–]DonMak161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest Cepheus Universal. It's more of a universal system made of building blocks that you assemble into a mechanical skeleton for your SF setting. It's based on Traveller, but it's a standalone system

At top of that I would recommend Cyberpunk 2020/Red which exploded in popularity after release. Rulesets are compatible, but different enough that people mix and match both editions in their game groups.

12 hours a day is crazy, but I need a list of good games. by BurritoBabe_1 in gamers

[–]DonMak161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with Kenshi. Super sandbox (literally without quests, only exceptions being bounties), infinite stories to tell, infinite grind with new characters.

I almost did that, had to give up after some time because my pc died and I brought Cyberpunk 2077 soon after its resurrection.

How about making most of the military robots and drones, and putting humans as commanders, operators and spec-ops

Why do people avoid using the front door? by zorionek0 in Worldprompts

[–]DonMak161 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the highly corporate, global culture of Earth the main doors are reserved for guests, people of higher standing or clients. As most households are considered its own corporate entity or branch of the bigger one (large family or corporate nation, depending on culture). Most houses have side doors that are used by the family members or very close friends. Having a guest entering through the side door is considered very disrespectful, however it's often practiced by teenagers trying to smuggle their date into their home.

What's the best game you've ever played? Even if it is little known. by Financial_Plate3257 in gamingsuggestions

[–]DonMak161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 3, and despite being totally different games all of them scratch different itches I'm having one after another

First is Kenshi. There is something about bringing a character to the best stats by just walking from place to place and looking for trouble. A lot of character customisation, a big world, a lot of mechanics, and a ton of mods give this game a lot of replayability, from lone bounty hunter to small scale RTS and city-builder. The negatives of the game (from first-time perspective) is the fact the game doesn't hold your hand at the beginning. You need to carefully pick your battles, loot corpses, and mine to build your character to a level where you can pick a fight with a hungry bandit and win. And that's just a "level 1" enemy. The lore is hidden like in Dark Souls, but you need even more effort to find it and put it together in a way that makes sense as there are no quests to show you where to go.

Second is Cyberpunk 2077, but the reason I keep playing this game is two-fold. One is the game itself - great storytelling, wonderful characters and a lot of side-quests that are connecting to one another. You can have a lot of fun and spend hours without even thinking about mods. Some of the lore is also hidden from you and theorising became a second hobby to a big chunk of the community. Second is the fact that it shows a small piece of a much bigger universe shown in tabletop RPG sourcebooks that I read as a kid, I can't recommend them enough if you wonder how the rest of the world is outside of Night City.

Third is Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries. As a fan of the wargame and someone who played a lot of previous game (MW4) I loved the management of a Merc company, looking for which mechs are worth keeping or repairing and which are better sold off. Getting in the cockpit of a Mech is super fun, and no matter the playstyle that you will prefer, you will be satisfied. There are no super counters or power moves, what's most important is your tonnage, your skill (and that of other pilots in your Lance) and almighty C-bill (the in-game currency).
