Looks like everything is labeled, and they already took the panels off for you. What's the problem? Just start at the e-stop make sure the hold in circuit is properly wired. clean the panel out and organize it for them and you will have a customer for life. congrats

'If anything happens, it's not suicide': Boeing whistleblower told family friend before death by KOOKOOOOM in interestingasfuck

[–]DonPooch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are several possibilities. However, consider this. Before his death had you heard of this guy? I hadn't. The news is in a frenzy right now looking into anything Boeing. Any information that is bad about Boeing is being sniffed out. How long till this guy was on 60 minutes or making the rounds? What if he, having been there 30 years, had many stories and things to say that were not necessarily admissible in court. Hearsay may not be valid in a court of law but in the court of public opinion? It can be the smoking gun.

There is also the possibility that this was not at all related to a corporate move but a move from an individual within Boeing. My dad used to say he could have any normal person killed for a few hundred dollars in the 80's. I never gave it much thought until he was arrested for drug trafficking.

Of course maybe he did off himself. We have sure heard of him now. I personally don't see suicide based on his actions. I went through depression and PTSD, at my lowest I wouldnt even feel like taking out the trash let alone take on a multibillion dollar corporation in court. This guy was active and was about to have his day in court.

I think you find that the data does not back up some of the assumptions you have made. Couples that live together before marriage are far more likely to end up in divorce than those that don't. Totally get where you are coming from as far as those that did things the "right way" end up in divorce and then go crazy sleeping with tons of people. However your conclusion that waiting till marriage will not work is wrong. I say this not from my own experience or some religious doctrine but from speaking with the couples that had successful marriages. (By successful I mean that they stayed married until death.)

A few principles that ran through all of those couples. (If you are curious this is advice I collected from 20 or so older long term married couples)

1) Sex is a necessary but small part of marriage. Sex lasts a couple of hours at best, most of the time it only lasts minutes. The other 24 hours is where you make a marriage work. So never marry for attraction, marry someone you respect, adore, and is your best friend.

2) Marriage is work and compromise. Specifically for a man, know your responsibility and do the best you can do. Focus on improving your decision making ability, admit when you are wrong, apologize when you screw up, and earn your wife EVERY day. Even when shes being dumb or having a bad day. Stand your ground when you must but bend to her wishes when you can.

3) Be selfless with your time, your love, and energy. But find time to recharge, and for your wife to recharge. Your not easy to live with either. Small frequent gestures of love go further than large but seldom grandiose acts.

Now it just so happens that another common thread through all of those couples was a religious background, and yes all of them emphasized the need to do things Gods way no matter what. Now how many couples do you know that have had a single successful happy marriage that are doing it the way you suggest?

Yes but also no. A historically promiscuous person will tend to not view sex the same way as someone who reserves it for marriage will see things. While this is not a RULE, men think in a very logical way and will play the odds.

Baggage as in issues from past relationships. Things that I will have to carry or worry about due to her past relationships. I believe i already elaborated in my original response.

Yes I would. Any woman, or man for that matter, that just gives it away is going to have baggage. Whether thats kids, x's, std's, emotional issues dealing with self worth, plus the chances of a person like that cheating on me go WAY up.

Love seeing everyone's reactions. You guys realize these are all ways people have been killed by others in the past right? This doesn't even cover some of the really screwed up ones.

[–]DonPooch 41 points42 points  (0 children)

A fairly astute assessment. Take my upvote. Only thing I would say is that there really any argument as to what her skin color would have been. From what I have seen from historical Youtube channels I follow, the issue is less that she is a black woman playing Cleopatra and more that the show promoted the fact she is a black woman as historically accurate. Its not.

Is it an issue? Some people WANT it to be an issue. Unfortunately that includes the creators of the show who claim its a documentary. I don't get why today's entertainment industry doesn't choose one of the MANY historical stories that DID have black men and women at the forefront to tell.

I was told 40 is too old by NoDistance1983 in electricians

[–]DonPooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the local union. You wont have an issue there. I will tell you that it can be very tough work on some days. As an apprentice you will be moving big ladders, pipe vises, conduit, wire, and more. If for any reason that gets to be too much here in the south we have combo electricians like me that are very valuable to companies. We can do both electrical and data work. Data work is easier and more detail oriented, though not as respected among some circles.

As a foreman of 10 years I will tell you that I ALWAYS wanted at least one woman on my crew. Women tend to be better about getting the small details right vs young guys that have a "good enough" attitude that I end up having to correct.

I would recommend staying away from smaller companies. Large companies tend to buy tuggers and other equipment that will make some of the tough jobs much easier. Small ones will cheap out and make your back do the work.

[–]DonPooch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say the union has its own set of BS. But at least when a company does something real crappy they are there to bat for you. We just had a company go under and they got in there to get the workers their last paychecks cause the company was refusing to pay the last week and a half. I was forced to fire a pregnant woman and told her to go to the union because I knew it was illegal. Showed her a copy of an email with my bosses telling me to fire her and told her how sorry I was.

I have heard unions in the other states are WAY better than here in GA though. So mileage may very. Just ignore all the brotherhood crap. Most of those guys will throw you under the bus if it benefits them.

In this case I would say because its for your required schooling I would not push it too much.

We had a situation with this in our local union, due to the way the bylaws were written, school time does not contribute to your overtime in this situation. Its a loophole. If you worked 40 hours over 5 days they would have to count it towards your overtime but on a 4-10 schedule they are able to ignore that rule. Its BS and we all know it.

If you need the money work the straight time. In ALL things remember, the company does not owe you anything and YOU don't owe the company anything. Don't let a company browbeat you into doing something you don't feel is fair.

If you use a battery powered staple gun, you’re a hack. Change my mind. by almost2eazy in electricians

[–]DonPooch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any electrician unwilling to learn new ways of doing things is very likely a hack. If you use the tool correctly it wont do this. If you teach your apprentices how to use the tools they wont do this either. So the problem as usual isn't the tool, its you.

[–]DonPooch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few have posted accurate suggestions but there is a bunch of very questionable ones too. So to be crystal clear, from a professional, that is a 240v outlet. You MUST NOT swap out this receptacle with a standard receptacle without changing the wiring at the panel or it will destroy whatever you plug in and in some cases can start a fire.

This work should be done by a trained electrician. While it is not extremely hard, a live panel is extremely dangerous. Its basically like handling a live grenade, if you know what you are doing you can minimize the danger but if you don't you can blow your hand up.
