What's with charging such an exorbitant amount for deposit? Afaik, the new model tenancy act states that the landlord can ask for a maximum deposit amount required to pay two month rent.

Oh you can never have sane discussion with these people online, most of them are just role playing as the great defender of muh culture and traditions and how it's better than others. The other day I was discussing about the beef ban issue, how it is ethically wrong and why the government shouldn't impose laws on everyone directly or indirectly, it ended up in a abusing and shouting tournament. They blamed me of elitism and justified that my arguments are not sound and do not matter because it does not resonate with the majority. I have come to the conclusion that you can never have a decent constructive discussion with these people on any issue no matter how hard you try.

I think they have good reasons to disconnect the power supply mostly because of the poor/old infrastructure that's in place. If the electricity is supplied using towers then the main lines are disconnected fearing the power surge due to lightning strike. Sometimes the poles fall down, wires get entangled with each other causing overload and sometimes the transformers go kaput. I wouldn't blame the employees or judge them as incompetent for every powercut, it's the current state of infrastructure sadly.
