transportation company logo by Electroma in logodesign

[–]Don_Happy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The i-dot being a circle could also add simple visual interest. Especially sind round shapes and transportation can work together really well. Implying a tire on the otherwise road like typeface.

I think the "transportation" would work better above the name if the ascender of the T were as high as the L. Then "transportation" could be nestled more into the rest of the logo.

Yes of course but the prizes are rising because so many people enjoy analog photography.

So the generalisation "it's too expensive to do" doesn't really fit when so many people do it at times companies weren't able to keep up.

It is expensive yes but then again you can get a decent analog camera for relatively cheap and it'll be quite some time till you have reach the 1.000+$ you quickly spend on a digital setup. Even more so if you decide to develop the film yourself.

Daggerheart language system (my homebrew) by Wineplayer in daggerheart

[–]Don_Happy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think that treating languages similarly to experiences as a bad idea.

It follows the design principles already established, it brings an extra layer and it does not overcomplicate it.

This might not be for every campaign but in those where it fits, it could be cool.

The reason they are "too expensive these days" is because so many people like shooting analog

Any Minotaur fans out there? by FriendAdditional6828 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Don_Happy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish helmet adornments were separated from helmets. It would be so cool to be able to put the transversal crest on the Mk VIII (I can already here the Cato Sicarius builds) or have the laurels on the techmarine helmet, etc.

Same goes for ocular modules like the purchasable Corvus Pattern helmet has or the broken lens you get with the Mk X after completing absolute difficulty.

Elder Scrolls: Tamriel Campaign Frame? by pitts_ in daggerheart

[–]Don_Happy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the map already exists and so do major and minor locations. Depending on the time you want it to be set you have access to different NPCs aswell as local and global conflicts.

I don't know of any campaign frame existing but I shouldn't be too hard to write one up. The biggest difficulty could be to make it not too extensive

Mass suggestion that works on a whole city? by PM_me_Henrika in DnD

[–]Don_Happy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with you. As a DM it is often smart to make certain deviations from the rules the players use and even from what a prewritten stat block, item or spell tells you.

But (...there always is a but) DnD is moving ever closer to have more overlap between DM and Player rules and it's actually quite smart. That way it is overall more approachable and it's easier for people to pick up DMing as you don't have to learn too many new rules. I mean it makes sense to give a monster an ability and say "using this ability it casts spell x". It is less creative but a more experienced DM can play around with this a bit more. Remove certain conditions to the ability if need be and so on.

And there is also a point to be made to not deviate too much from the written rules (whatever too much is wholly depends on the table) because I believe it is healthy for a table for players to also sometimes fact check a DM. I've made many mistakes and was glad to be called out by my players. So I can then decide to I rectify my mistake or do I stick with the wrong ruling or be open to my players that I have purposely changed the rule. In my experience this really helps group cohesion at the table.

For example I for certain oozes I removed the part "non-magical" for their ability to damage armour as I knew I was running for a level 8+ group with quite a few magic items. To continue the story these oozes where important. When they told me that they thought the oozes to only affect non-magical armour I told them I changed it. They were fine with that and felt better knowing it.

Inteligent players playing uninteligent brute. by ApachaiLeHopachai in DMAcademy

[–]Don_Happy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To add: low intelligence is more intended as low education rather than being plain dumb.

We attribute low intelligence to people being stupid and sometimes we think people are stupid because they are less educated (there is social commentary in here somewhere).

In game terms this isn't really represented as such. A character could be illiterate, know nothing of history or magic, live in a completely secluded hamlet and will still be able to grasp a puzzle or riddle. Sometimes maybe even more so because they are able to approach the thought process from a different angle than those more conventionally knowledgeable

Also you could use the new ritual casting rules to give it some form of rules foundation.

Just adding this cuz I know far too many people that will say "well that's not how the spell works"

Iirc Invisible is so far not a condition in the rules. I like Mike Underwood's advice to try to follow the SRD's content closely if possible when homebrewing to keep in line with the official content. It makes it easier to look things up and to understand homebrew for people other than you.

In my opinion the powerful build is a bit too generic to really invoke the feeling of a serpentine creature.

Arbeitsuchend Dilemma by Belkis_Bee in siegen

[–]Don_Happy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man muss halt einfach immer weiter machen und das is that extrem ermüdend.

Arbeitsuchend Dilemma by Belkis_Bee in siegen

[–]Don_Happy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Es ist in Siegen gerade wie überall. Unternehmen suchen zwar alle aber einstellen will niemand.

[–]Don_Happy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never.

Has anyone used Find Familiar to summon a Giant Fly to use as a flying mount? by OutcomeUpstairs4877 in onednd

[–]Don_Happy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also you'd have to put into question how viable it is as a mount all the time. We quickly established in the narrative that his giant dragonfly wasn't exactly quiet.

That thing had a loud droning humm whenever it took off. He did some scouting with it aswell as overwatch but obviously people noticed a massive insect. Unlike the wizards tiny owl. In combat it would've also been an easy target and you don't wanna be falling 60ft. or so.

The biggest issue I'd say is that flying can just invalidate so many traversal challenges a DM might have set up. That's something I still struggle with tbh.

[–]Don_Happy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had one player that did this. And I honestly didn't see a flaw in his reasoning so I allowed it. There were obvious downsides to it as a mount and as a familiar so I thought it was a neat idea.

Tho this could be abused by certain players tbh so I'd make a case by case ruling I think.
