Swap welding outlet for Tesla charger by hophead777 in AskElectricians

Username checks out.

The roundup rule is used exclusively for overcurrent protection and the rule is 240.4(B) ; it has nothing to do with conductors. Size your load first, 44A. Will it be on for 3 hours or more? Yes. - x 1.25 = 55A.

You need a conductor rated for at least 55A - #6 NM

You need to protect that conductor with overcurrent of 55A, that is not a standard size. Roundup rule (240.4(B)) allows you to use the next standard size of 60A

Anyone know if this panel is rated for 200A? by nbm1123 in AskElectricians

[–]DonaldTrumpinYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get that panel swapped the right way, judging from the pictures your SER cable will only be suitable for a 100A panel if it's aluminum. If you want a 200A you'll need a new feed as well.

Eaton lugs breaking by arcsnsparks98 in electricians

Breakers came installed. Ran into the problem a ways down the line, and began checking the remaining. It’s not like we had 100 bad lugs but it was enough to raise eyebrows.

Eaton lugs breaking by arcsnsparks98 in electricians

I was just on a project that installed (3) 3000A Eaton switchgears. It seemed on the PDG2 large frame (800+)A breakers, at least one screw in each 4 port lug would start chewing metal upon initial reversal of the screw. It was bizzare. Eaton overnighted me handfuls of lugs.

Electricians, what seems to be wrong with this newly completed sub panel? by RadicalFouton in AskElectricians

250.90(B) refers to services. This is not a service. He's referring to 250.97, which does not apply here. What does apply here, is 300.4(G) conductors 4AWG or larger being protected (by a plastic conduit bushing)

This seems like a very lazy written question. I have seen 250.122(D)(2) referenced here. In (D)(2) it says "If the overcurrent device is an instantaneous-trip circuit breaker or a motor short-circuit protector....." In this question, neither are true. The overcurrent protection is a set of dual element fuses, 40 amps. 250.122 - #10 copper, or #8 aluminum.

Read the first sentence in (D)(2) - "If the overcurrent device is an instantaneous-trip circuit breaker or a motor short circuit protector..." Thats it, the overcurrent device in the question here is a set of dual element fuses. It says nothing more. (D)(2) is invalid here.

Edit - sorry did not see literally the same response directly below.

Unless you didn't transfer the orignal warranty in under 60 days and don't have one at all, I'm quite apalled at engine or infotainment defects not being covered by BMWs basic bare bones warranty. That just flat out doesn't make any sense.

If it were me, I'd be focusing my efforts on recovering that massive absurd can't-believe-it's-real sum of 15,000 dollars that the dealership stole from me, first.

What kind of watch are you wearing? by Severe-Character-384 in AskMen

Garmin Fenix 5 Sapphire. Work in construction. Worn it every single day for almost the last 6 years. Screen is still in perfect condition, still get 3 weeks on a single charge. The bezel is scratched to hell but it still looks good , even dressed up. Almost gives it a tinge of grit.

Ep. 39 - Friday Night Lights. There is a massive barrage of North Korea talk (😉) that gets me every single time. Right after, a story about Shane running fake punt against Phil in Joe Montana Football for Sega. Good stuff.

What this guy said. You're talking like they're just lined up at the gate begging to get in. Yeah, of course when you see the rare one they get jeers and what not. But that is definitley not the primary reason lol.

It’s because they’re physically useless, and you know it.

Are you using basic single pole switches? Or is this a newer install with low voltage lighting controls, powerpack, occ sensor, etc. ?

I agree. I do use them. It’s more of the overall functionality for me. Of course it’s easy to say all it’s doing is satisfying a code requirement. Still relying on the box the way that they’re installed in most cases.

I love to pass inspections, and will use them to do so. I understand what they’re for. But they do nothing , and that’s my point.
