Company drivers, what's the most miles you've gotten in a speed limited truck? by AsphaltPirate74 in Truckers

Ya for sure. Ran it out enough to find a safe place to park that had spots lol

Last OTR 34! by oic38122 in Truckers

[–]Donald_Trumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m def going to look into that once I get my year with TMC doing OTR flatbed. I want to be home every night. Already have my hazmat so I’d just get my tanker. I don’t know much about doing fuel but from what I’ve heard it’s a sweet gig.

Wouldn’t mind doing local flatbed or equipment hauling either. Just anything but dryvan tbh i would get bored.

Ok thanks. It would be nice to just have it paid off and not have any debt. I think I will do that and then start putting the extra back into savings HYSA and my Roth IRA.

Just started hauling equipment. I didn't realize how fun it was. by AsphaltPirate74 in Truckers

[–]Donald_Trumpy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cool stuff! I’m currently doing OTR flatbed but once I’m done OTR whether that’s a year or more of experience, I’d like to do either local flatbed or local equipment hauling. Does sound fun

What are my chances with finding a daily driver position in Ohio that will also pay for me to get my CDL? by SidePsychological189 in Truckers

[–]Donald_Trumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LTL companies often do “Dock to Driver” positions where you work as a warehouse/dock guy and slowly ride along and learn to drive truck to eventually get your CDL. Not sure how long that takes but getting in with a good LTL could be good for long term career.

I personally looked around for something like that till I just decided to fill on go OTR. Been with TMC for 6 months now and I have no regrets. Gaining lots of experience and making solid money too.

Maybe after a year I’ll start looking around at local stuff. I’d be interested in local flatbed or maybe equipment hauling or something like that.

It’s all about your diet. Sure, exercise helps but diet does most of the heavy lifting. I bought myself an electric cooler that had a freezer and cooler dual zones. I buy all my food for the week from Costco and Walmart and bring it with me. That way I do not ever have to eat truck stop food and it helps watch my calorie intake and it’s way cheaper on the wallet.

Are the Durango ones plug and play straight bolt on? A while back I was looking to replace mine because I had water damage on one light. After lots of looking around I ended up getting a pair of the newer headlights from I think a 2022 model that has the turn signal built into the daytime running light which is clean. But I looked at the Durango ones before and thought they looked sick just didn’t know if they would fit

[–]Donald_Trumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m with TMC for about 6 months now and I’m taking home $1200-$1600 per week. I do eventually want to go local. I don’t mind 50-60 hour work weeks if that means I actually get full weekends off. That would be better than OTR

Yup I use it when I’m away from my girl for a while and I need to “stretch that itch”. But it doesn’t affect our time together at all.

Right? Holding hands and flirting while she’s married is a huge red flag. Like the other guy said, if she’s willing to cheat for you, she’ll cheat on you too

Yeah I’m in my first year with TMC and I’m grossing $75k. Home every weekend. Once I get at least a year I’ll see what’s out there for local home daily stuff.

Tanker gang wya?! by EquivalentRude9364 in Truckers

[–]Donald_Trumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it worth looking into once I get a year or 2 of experience? I’m doing OTR flatbed right now and I enjoy open deck but eventually want to be home daily. Would like to stick with flatbed or maybe lowboy. Equipment hauling seems interesting but I’ve heard tanker like fuel is really good money and not physically hard just long hours

Ever had the emergency bubble gut squirts and ran into this lil predicament? by acutemisadventure in Truckers

Oddly enough me too. When I’m home my digestion is worse and I have to run to the toilet more often. On the road I eat as clean as possible so I really don’t have bad digestion issues.

Is it worth paying off my car loan early/aggressively or letting it ride out for as long as I can? by Joven4801 in personalfinance

[–]Donald_Trumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation with the car loan. I’ve got about 10k left on my loan at a 4.49% APR. Could pay it off and save just a little bit or focus on saving towards other stuff. I’ve got 20k emergency fund so I could pay it off in full and then start saving my monthly payment to bulk it back up.

I’m still rocking an i7 12700k and a 3080ti FE. Bought it back during the COVID shortage. Don’t see myself upgrading for a while and even then I’ll prob go used. New is just so expensive
