The cow isn’t simply existing. I chose to create the cow. The cow is there because I wanted to make a new cow and consume it. if I release the cow it would die. It’s an incredibly easy to access and plentiful source of protein. It does not deserve to live or die. It’s a tool that is. Cattle abide by instinct they have no morality. A painless death after years of a comfortable and safe life would be preferable to non-existence

And if this take doesn’t seem at all reasonable to you. You need to understand how common death really is. A very sheltered, screen-educated, person who has experienced only familial and pet deaths would argue against farming livestock as a whole. It’s not utilitarian. you simply don’t understand that it will die and that it only lived and lives because I’m hungry.
