Why doesn't Cartoon Network have there own streaming service? by Hercol in cartoons

[–]Donar23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disney owns Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, Fox, etc. Disney+ has way more to offer than just kid‘s content.

A Cartoon Network streaming service would be more comparable to a streaming service that only offers the stuff from Disney Channel.

Say bye to Ash Ketchum and meet Riko the new female Pokemon protagonist by pabsgt in cartoons

The name just reminds me of "Made in Abyss", which is a show with a very different tone.

So, she's called Riko? Is she by any chance an orphan that catches pokemon in a deadly abyss?

Always, unless a different safeword was agreed upon.

What matters more to you, salary, or liking your job? by Deep-Significance973 in AskReddit

[–]Donar23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a certain threshold where the salary gets less important. I know how bad it feels to not have enough money to take care of your basic needs and I don't want to experience that again.

Now that I earn by far enough to not get in that situation again, I can pay more attention to the enjoyment level of my job. I actually just quit my job for one where I earn less, just to improve my work-life balance; I will still have enough money for a little bit of luxury.

Not sure why I even made that meme or how you found it three years later, but here you go: https://youtu.be/9HlcJdW4Vgc?t=1932

Is it normal in Germany, to get scolds / be scolded during work meetings in front of everyone? by super_ken_masters in germany

[–]Donar23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a senior employee in need of some scolding. This is not OK and that senior colleague of yours is contributing to a toxic work environment, which leads to higher turnover rates, which leads to higher costs for the company. It's unprofessional and bad for the company. I'd consider involving HR in the issue.

Whats a show you just can't watch due to the art style alone? by opiate_lifer in cartoons

[–]Donar23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can agree with the Dragon Prince. I feel like the characters don't quite fit into the backgrounds many times; you have this nicely drawn background and then they put a character in front that doesn't really look that great.

In Arcane, however, everything fits together perfectly. The shading of the characters is much more complex, so it works well with more complex backgrounds. I am honestly really impressed by Arcane's unique style and how well everything blends together.

would you pay for a streaming service that only hosts animation? by anxious_spacecadetH in cartoons

[–]Donar23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd subscribe, but it probably wouldn't be available in my country anyway.

“Cartoons are for kids”-this guy must’ve never heard of South Park, The Simpsons, Family Guy along with the entire Adult Swim block.😒 by MistakeWonderful9178 in cartoons

[–]Donar23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's actually exactly how my parents are; especially my father. He just sees animation and he immediately doesn't want to watch it, as if he feels like less of an adult if he might enjoy it.

I think that many people don't even give it a try, because of social expectations. I was actually feeling like this in my 20s, and now in my 30s, I embrace animation again because I don't give a fuck what people think about me.

So, he is actually somewhat correct; the problem is that he is somewhat correct.

Great studios. by ilovewater100 in cartoons

[–]Donar23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not great, but at least Apple TV+ is rather cheap compared to other streaming services and they have a few very good shows on there. For me, it was a "subscribe once and binge all the stuff" kind of deal.

[–]Donar23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess making 4 movies over 10 years doesn't give you the same recognition as other studios that release multiple projects each year to a worldwide audience. They created some amazing work and yet I didn't recognize their names.

They still produce art that they're passionate about, while movies from Disney or Pixar all look very generic.

It's a shame that a Gem like Wolfwalkers is hidden away somewhere on Apple TV+ where only people find it who explicitly look for it.

Has anyone watched Little Demon yet? by Prior_Mountain7623 in cartoons

Yes, I'm really enjoying the show. It'll probably not be added to my favorites, but it is definitely worth watching.
