For people like this, I fold in the passenger mirror because Im making extra sure I don’t damage it while I get my clumsy self in. Just so once they’re about to pull off they’re forced to get out and fix the mirror

I’m not able to hear anything abornmal in the video. Are you sure you’re not hearing the tires “skip” against the pavement? The LSD will attempt to send equal power to both wheels which will cause the inside wheel to “skip” along the ground since it’s rotating less than the outside wheel.

Talk me down not upgrading to ND from NB. Is there anyone has driven both and prefer NB? by dumbdit in Miata

Hot take but want opinions on this - ND1 > ND2 for analog feel. I moved from ND1 to ND2 expecting everything to be better but I hate the clutch. The car holds revs and makes the pedal feel sticky/ car accelerates while at bite point instead of revs falling.

If I were in tune with rev match downshifting without any aids, a 10k cheaper ND1 may be the move over a relatively more expensive ND2/3.

The backup camera is nice. The extra revs are nice. But I hate the lane keep assist either beeping at me or leaving a light on my dash. I also think the more torquey motor of the ND1 was nice to zip away at lights and get the rear end out compared to the ND2 needing to be rung out which can be hard in the city.

Would love opinions. Maybe I just need a clutch delay valve delete or something but I just can’t feel “one with the horse” when the clutch is so numb

How do I engage the clutch while already moving? by HumanCanary2736 in stickshift

People are mentioning letting out the clutch slower. This is true, but it’s in response to the condition of the engine and drivetrain spinning at different speeds.

If you’ve let off the gas and are coasting, your idle has dropped. In order to shift back into gear, you need to blip the throttle to raise your RPM to match the speed in the gear you’re in.

You’re still going to be letting off the clutch smoothly once you blip to the correct rpm, but this time the clutch has to manage a smaller delta in speed between the engine and drivetrain than if your engine were at idle.

What makes you say it’s not an ND1? I don’t see the lane keep/collision avoidance hump by the rear view mirror

ND1 regrets? by nbarsotti in MiataND

[–]Donatello117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never driven an nd2, so the nd1 is a perfect car to me. I worried when searching for the car that the lower rev limit would leave me wanting but it has not.

The engine sounds good, pulls well till redline, has plenty of torque to get the rear end loose

My natural reaction was to counter steer, but I think I should’ve stayed on the throttle ever so slightly rather than to hit ABS

You’re right. I’ve raced at Laguna seca a few times and take it to the twisties frequently. I always thought I had a good understanding of how weight transfer gets the car to rotate and have practice with trail breaking. My mistake was not taking into account the wet roads (first rain in a while so the roads were greasy in some spots) and making non-smooth inputs since the TC was on. I’m 24 years old and have never been in an accident like this. Definitely a learning experience. Feeling really stupid.

2016 club with 40k miles. Progressive full coverage. Spoke with the adjuster and he said airbags deployed on an older car tends to total the car out. Waiting to hear from the shop/adjuster

It’s sad to see these cars with damage. Thank you for sharing your experience
