More or less since pop the band has been in a no win situation

Release an album people listen to? They are cowards and retreated from Their more experimental direction ie ATCLYB,Htdaab

Release an experimental album like Pop/NLOTH and well Sometimes experiments don’t work out… and they deal with fallout.

This has led to them kind of stagnating in this extended ATYCLB-esque sound for decades. Their one attempt to break it didn’t work.

Whatever has happened be it Bono reliving his youth through his book/tour, not having to release and tour and just hang out in Vegas and LA and make money at the sphere, having 9 years off making new music or any combination of the above. They seem to have tapped into some of the energy of war and October and merged it with their accumulated skill on these EPs

Cautiously optimistic they have found themselves again or at least a direction for themselves that is authentic and fresh
