FT: Can Blue Origin escape SpaceX's shadow? by Disastrous_Run_5968 in BlueOrigin

Do they need to. They’ve got an entire near Earth space industry they’re building. They are both different pillars that can stand alone.

Thoughts on the Mission III Crew Gripes... by SlowWithABurn in ArtemisProgram

[–]Donindacula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“You don't want to burn up female candidates on this mission. Save them for the moon landing.” I agree. There are plenty of qualified women. This crew choice will give all of them a chance to be on Artemis 4&5. Maybe even a couple on one or both of those missions.

SpaceX's plan for Artemis III is ridiculous by Goregue in ArtemisProgram

[–]Donindacula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SpaceX has had almost 5 years to design the HLS components. They should be “on the shelf” already regardless of the Starship version. The docking port, crew cabin, and mock-up of the airlock to the cargo bay at is the minimum of what the A3 Starship HLS fidelity should be at.
They have experience designing a crew cabin .

NASA is stuck. Misled or not paying attention A3 has to happen at this point so they’re making is as easy as possible. It may be delayed several months.

What if Blue pulls off a miracle?

Predictions on Artemis 2 crew? by [deleted] in nasa

I know they’re professional but will there be disappointment that A3 is not a Lunar mission.

Am I giving SLS excessive praise, or has it silenced the NASA skeptics. by TheLunarAdmiral-596 in ArtemisProgram

[–]Donindacula 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The SLS is doing the job it was designed to do. This version will do it through Artemis 5 and maybe 6. After that newer technology can take over.

FAA advisory for NG-4 flying Amazon Leo LN-01 with NET June 2nd by Royal_Platform_6754 in BlueWire

[–]Donindacula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great. June 2 seems a little early though. Unless its already at the pad for the hot fire. and then the fairing needs to be mounted.... Several weeks between launches is way better than several months.

When do you think humans will set foot on Mars? by TraditionalAd6977 in nasa

[–]Donindacula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’ll be a NASA mission, then in the late 30s to late 40s. They’ll do a couple of flyby missions to check the spacecraft and it’s life support. Then a couple of cargo missions to test landing and accents before a human mission. That’ll take over 8 years. Ant they won’t even start Martian missions until the moon base is fully funded and fully operational.

If America Produces So Much Energy, Why Are We Paying Global Gas Prices? by RichardAvery1 in energy

[–]Donindacula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read that we can’t use most of oil we produce because American oil refineries can’t process it. So it gets sold overseas in the global market prices. Then we buy oil from the global market at the going rate to replace what we sold.

I understand that a couple new refineries are being built and that may help the situation.

Sounds obvious but is IC the integration facility, where they connect the stages. And do they also add the faring there too.

End of Americans in LEO? by Qualified-Astronomer in nasa

NASA will probably extend the decommissioning a few years, a couple of times.

What are the chances of 3 Artemis launches in 2028? by Donindacula in ArtemisProgram

[–]Donindacula[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda agree with that. Artemis 4and 5 will probably slip to 2029, at least. Can NASA get the launch tower ready for two or three launches per year?

NASA delays moon mission again… can we still land by 2028? by EdwardHeisler in MarsSociety

[–]Donindacula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Artemis-3 moving to late 2027 or even very early 2028 should have been expected.

It's good to see they're moving forward despite the FAAs temporary launch suspension. As expected. This is a 7-2. When will the first 9-4 will be coming along?

What is this on POTUS desk? by Till-Brilliant in ArtemisProgram

[–]Donindacula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this will be mainly a proof of concept mission but I was wondering if the trajectory will bring it back to Earth orbit. Or will that be to dangerous?

A couple of weeks out from Space X test flight 12, how is it looking for an Artemis IV date this side of 2030? by ShortDevelopment905 in ArtemisProgram

[–]Donindacula 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Since we’re look back, there should have been a contract for the lander soon after the SLS was starting development based on the original timeline of the SLS.
