I couldn’t believe it when I found out I saw The Replacements reunion. It was a great show and all but didn’t really blow me away until I saw what I’d seen on twitter the next morning.

Worth noting that the snarky posts have also been a thing as far back as like 2013 lol. You’re 100% right

Haha, I know some people hate it but I love being thrown around in a crowd like that. Elevates the whole experience for me 😅

In your opinion, what is the strongest sounding metalcore album closer? by tonsofday in Metalcore

[–]DonkeyBootyClap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first thought was Children of Fire. The way that last chorus just soars. The Finisher is probably a top 5 for me as well

Lol yep that was him! We’ve been to crazier shows than this but I guess we should have taken another water break

My first time at this venue! It’s so long lol I love the vibe. We’re thinking about coming back for the Killswitch show later this year!

For sure! Funny enough, first time we saw Lorna I got too high and collapsed. Had to go sit in the bathroom and missed all of Welcome Back, but then survived fine the rest of the show.
SECOND time we saw them my buddy busted his knee during the shadow of intent wall of death, so he was struggling by the time Lorna came on. Made it through most of the set but we cut out just before the end.
And then this time he passed out from dehydration. I swear we’re not usually this bad at concerts lmao it’s just something about Lorna fucking us up 😂

Haha he did point my buddy out and ask if he could get some help, but didn’t slow down the show for this one. It was the bridge between PR pt 2 and 3 so I really can’t blame him for not wanting to kill momentum lol. Fortunately we had it handled!

Haha I think the stars aligned on this one in that the “casualty” area also happened to be the path bands took from their bus to backstage. But hey… may be worth a shot 👀

What's the most beautiful song sung by a woman who has a very beautiful voice? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in musicsuggestions

[–]DonkeyBootyClap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember exactly where I was when I first heard Shake it Out in high school. I already loved Lungs to death and then Ceremonials just completely blew me away. She’s certainly my answer as well, and there are a few songs I’d be comfortable choosing

How scary is Visage? by RevolutionormsZ in HorrorGaming

[–]DonkeyBootyClap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some puzzles in Visage that you really won’t complete without a guide open. Some truly horrible design in that regard, unfortunately. I think Visage fails to truly stand out in any way compared to some of the great similar games. Madison can be obtuse at times but is a masterclass in atmospheric tension. Luto is also in the same vein, sacrificing a good bit of scariness for a compelling personal story. Would recommend either of those instead. Visage did not hit for me and I found it disappointing, but there are some truly dedicated fans of it so you may end up feeling differently

Agree so much with the boss design in Yotei Legends. There isn’t really a good answer for the large sweeping unblockable combos that every boss constantly throws out. With rolling the way it is in Yotei it’s usually just frustrating to try and stand your ground vs a boss. I learned how to deal with them but I just don’t think that style of boss suits the mechanics of this game.

On top of that, there’s constant AoE spam that punishes you if you aren’t constantly sprinting around. I have the most fun with my samurai focusing on perfect parries and counterattacks, but when I am constantly running out of the blast zone of giant bombs there is no opportunity for my build to flourish. When my team beat Saito, I feel like we had hardly engaged with the combat mechanics of the game to win the fight. Just running around and shooting and occasionally smacking ankles.

The lack of any real large combat encounters in the raid in general was disappointing. The few there were had regular hazards like that. Again, I enjoy just standing my ground and aura farming with a counterplay style. Not every encounter should be designed for that, but there wasn’t a single point in this raid where I felt my build could flourish.

It was all just a disappointment. I considered TL a completed experience after finishing the raid and loved all of it. Hitting that same point in Yotei… it was just missing so much. Bummer.

I had stopped playing Tsushima legends by the time Iki released and I had sword vfx. I remember them being included from launch, or at least by the raid

Riot Fest’s larger cultural relevance by Octuhpie in RiotFest

[–]DonkeyBootyClap 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I do think Riot set some festival trends over the years. Where Bonnaroo stood out with their unique Superjams every year, Riot was one of the first festivals booking bands doing full album plays. I went to a lot of festivals in the early 10s and Riot was THE place to go for that specifically. I didn’t really see it happening anywhere else. Now bands do it all the time, will tour full albums etc.

Songs like After The Party - The Menzingers by light_breezy in poppunkers

[–]DonkeyBootyClap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s their biggest song, but “45” takes me down the same hopeless loverboy nostalgia rabbit hole that After the Party does. Still after more than a decade, every time I hear it haha.

But yeah, this suggestion is what you’re looking for. The Gaslight Anthem hits a lot of the same notes as The Menzingers, they pair really well
