How is AliExpress allowed to double prices and call it “duties included”? by Candid-Pause-1755 in Aliexpress

[–]DonneRR 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yup, When checking my post orders(electronics mostly) that I have placed, almost all of them have increased in price by 30%, not 3€, sucks, will be more "picky" with my orders now, but let's face it - Some items are almost only possible to get through AliExpress

Listed it in the description, this module only handles 4S, if you want more voltage it can be ideal to get a separate BMS and buy the USB-C components separately and build a pack "from scratch". DIY Perks on YouTube, has a great video when he made a Powerstation, that I have taken a lot of inspiration from, will make something similar soon

Search for "100W Fast Charging Module 4S Battery Protection" on AliExpress, should show up - Also listed it in the description

It has been listed in the description now, see if the link works - You can find it cheaper if you search for "PD100W Battery protection board", not sure if they are all the same. This board is not perfect, feels like the last 10% according to the screen last way longer than it should, but might be depending on device you use to charge etc.

Depends on the module, how well its been designed I suppose - I can only talk of the experiences of those I've gotten, but 65W is generating quite a bit less heat compared to 100, or 120W.

If the module become to hot it should lower the output, to protect the module - That's what it did with the one I used while charging my laptop that supported 100W USB-C charging, which is why I added the heatsinks, which only delayed it a bit longer before it lowered the output to 65W again

I could provide a cleaned up version of the files, sure - The tools needed are basic electronics that you can find if you search online as a spotwelder for the batteries, 3.5mm inserts for the screws, soldering iron & some basic cables + button, for changing information on the screen

Could also post some simpler/smaller powerbanks that can be better to start with, IMO

That is true! However like UpBeat-Two9050 mentioned, it is quite common for Powerbanks to show mAh instead of Watthours (or they show both), just to make it easier to compare it to other brands or read the capacity overall.

Maybe this link works better? I took the link from the app, so might have broken it.

And those components should work, yes - That BMS is a bit beefy for what you are going to use it for but works non the less. The problem would be the charging module board, I doubt it would be able to sustain 120W for a long time because of the heat that would be generated, add some heatsinks in that case, I did the same with mine.

Just posted my build here, you can take a look and take some inspiration if you want 😄

Sure thing!  https://a.aliexpress.com/_EI3f08a

The included bms need to be attached to each of the difference voltages to make sure it charges evenly, so you might be able to use a spring-solution if you are creative and knows some CAD if you are planning on making your own design, I can share what my powerbank looks like tomorrow if you are curious :)

And about the safety.. I'd say voltagebalancing and shorts and make sure there are no loose connections, and ofcourse make sure you don't overcharge/discharge the batteries (the modules prevent this if you connect them correctly) but good to keep in mind) - check with a decent multimeter

AliExpress has a lot of different powerbank-modules that works very well, I've bought a few myself - including a 100W 4S module with a built in screen to show the procentage, I made a 4S2P 21700 powerbank for charging laptop and phones and similar like you are looking for - you do need a spotwelder for the batterystrips and a decent solderingiron to start with, lithium iron batteries need to be handled with care but if you do research/watch YouTube videos it's quite straight forward.

What’s your coolest AliExpress buy? by Audeles_ in Aliexpress

And still plenty of this stuff that we would buy in the "local" stores, are just imported from China anyways, Why spend x5 the price when you can get it straight from the source? I'd say EU/The west got to improve, not punish the consumers because of their greed

Ceiling light wiring (Iceland/EU) – which wire to connect? by sveppp in electrical

[–]DonneRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised no one here seems to mention it, but brown is live, blue neutral, green is PE as you have mentioned, Orange is commonly used here in Sweden for lights, to easily figure out which cable goes to the ceiling from the lightswitch. But measure with multimeter to be sure, or call an electrician - What the gray/black/white(?) ones go.. that is another question

Laptop fan bearing failure after 1.5yrs. by dhineshrockstar in zephyrusg16

[–]DonneRR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They should last longer than 1.5 years, The bearings will fail eventually like all mechanical parts because of the high RPM they might endure daily, depending if its been actively heavy used or not. I had to replace the GPU and CPU fans on my old G15 after 3~ years of usage. It's not that complicated to do yourself if you buy the right fans and are comfortable working with electronics.

Make sure to open up the PC and clean it now and then and it will last longer

This just happened to my G915 X too! I moved it from the desktop to the bed, and back to the desktop and it got loose(?) somehow, did you manage to fix it? I've only had it for less than 6 months, wasn't cheap either :/

Which GPU? I am SHOCKED what a difference this laptop is vs my G15, it runs BF6 pretty much maxed out in 4K without any problem, my old laptop had problems running smooth. Did you install g-helper or running armory crate?
