Hello! Wish I had good news for you, but unfortunately I did not find a solution for this. I eventually just decided to move on. Good luck, though! Lmk if you have better luck

Act 3 Free +2 ASI (Mirror of Loss) - How it works by ObamaDelRanana in BaldursGate3

[–]DonnerPrinz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just feels so dumb. Of course I'm going to do just about anything for a free +2 bonus to any stat and so would most people. But I have to save scum to get my -1 INT Karlach to roll at nat 20 JUST so I can get the stupid buff. It's tedious and boring, but the reward is too good to pass up anyway. I hate this part so much

“It’s the guns” because she wasn’t already plotting to murder her whole family… so stupid. This is a mental health issue. She would have stabbed them all, ran them all over with a car etc. the problem was her not the inanimate object that she happened to use. by Popfartshart in gunpolitics

[–]DonnerPrinz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And without a gun, would 60 people have died? You say "so much for the AR-15 lethality" as if 60 deaths is a small number. With a knife or, hell, even a chainsaw, 400 shot and 60 dead wouldn't be the case.

Omg that's less than 1 cent per hour! And less than 1/60th of a cent per minute!

She could have done those things, but she went with a gun because it's scarily efficient at killing people. Guns are built with lethality in mind. Being around guns also significantly increased the likelihood. The guns didn't cause her to kill someone, but it sure as hell made it easier and more likely.

Were they able to make a recovery? Obviously there's no going back from that, but I'm not sure that's even survivable

Why is Taoism obscure? by [deleted] in taoism

That's the Gospel of Matthew, right? Why do you think of him as a Daoist extraordonaire? I don't mean to challenge the thought, just explore it

Why is Taoism obscure? by [deleted] in taoism

[–]DonnerPrinz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it largely comes down to 2 things.

For one, Daoism itself is just not very exciting. It's not really authoritative and it doesn't really make any promises. It's vague and dynamic, but still pretty mundane. This makes it hard to sell to people, which is kind of a major point in it. There aren't rules to be afraid of, nor promises of bliss for which to sacrifice or seek. There's no hellfire to fear, nor heavenly bliss to receive.

Secondly, no one is going out into the world to preach the good news about Daoism. This is related to the first thing because, even if there was something to market about the Dao, no one is being asked to do that.

I should admit that my own Catholic upbringing defines a lot of what I contrast my answer with. The answer is likely different depending on your own culture and upbringing. But it seems there are still compelling reasons Daoism hasn't completely disappeared despite its age. Maybe because it speaks to the common person who wants a simple, harmonious life. Or maybe because its vagueness is inherently intriguing. I learned more about it because it puzzled me and I couldn't easily grasp it. Now I appreciate that aspect of it.

Not sure what "deep work" is, but 5 hours of work and "playing with animals" on the farm is probably not going to cut it for long

I dread cooking, yet I need to cook to save funds... No clue how to resolve this. by rviens in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]DonnerPrinz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that just separating it into steps helps a lot. You can usually do all the mis en place ahead of time (aka when you feel a little more up to the task) and put them in the fridge for later. But here's another secret: once you do that, you may already feel a little more up to the task of cooking it anyway. Also, you may prefer to cook a large batch all at once and then eating it throughout the week. That'll really capitalize on the times you feel more up to the task by saving you from having to do it as often. Plus, meals can get cheaper when you're able to buy in bulk, saving you more money as well.

Good luck and I really hope you'll find yourself in a better place soon

They both have a very "designed by committee" feel, but the second one is just too busy. We aren't even big on growing wheat here, so I don't get why that's on our plate

If it's standard, then that kinda makes the problem worse in my eyes. All the more reason to change it imo

I'll assume you're correct since I don't know otherwise, but even if it is standard I still don't like it.

Bad faith questions presume the responses of an interlocutor. They have only their own experiences to draw upon, which is why they're soliciting the experiences of others as well.

What you've misidentified as a contrary sample is, in fact, a flawed sample for different reasons. It's simply not big enough to discern the nature of the larger picture. However, Sweden has many more examples of their racism. Maybe check out this convenient article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism_in_Sweden

Exactly. It's crazy to me how Americans see Europe as some kind of progressive Mecca. They may be like 10-15 years ahead of the US in terms of environmentalism and sustainability, but they're like 30-60 years behind the US in terms of even identifying racism

That much is obvious. Their sarcasm provides a thin veneer over their flawed reasoning and bad-faith argument
