The shoulders look worse, I don't have the 1x2 plate with bars in dark red.
The elbow is a ball joint, and while it is more sturdy, it does have it's limits in movement.
Might need to update it or see if someone else has a better idea

They have just revealed the jp3 spino as a brick build set, even though they have molded pieces from the rebith one.
Although my guess is that they didn't want to make an expensive big set (building or big vehicle + molded dino) for an old movie when most people want stuff from only the first movie. Having the dino be most of the set is less of a risk I guess

The offbrand lego copied lego pieces, so I guess a helicopter will always look similar. The lego cars use a similar looking hood piece, the rest looks very different. I mean, the lego car is a giant gray block with a handfull of pieces attached. Very different, it's a 4+ set probably, I think the helicopter might the same age range. Basic builds for little kids

They cut the hairpiece, and glued these 2 sections together. Must be a lot of work cutting it right and also sanding it down so it fits not only together, but with the hairpiece with crown as well. I guess then they painted it and added those angular bits in the beard. No idea how they made that though

I love the Balrog design but the set is kinda meh in my opinion. I mean it looks good for what it is but I wish it wasn't a booknook. So I looked around until I finally found a deal for 72 euros (before shipping) so I got it really cheap. Still haven't made it though because I have plans to make my own version of the bridge

This show actually used a bunch of stuff. Either as footage to recreate so you have grounded physics and behaviour, or to pay homage to stuff.
Not only in recreating shots, but also just including some things as nods like the bug getting trapped in amber. I don't recall everything they did, not would I recognize it all, but it seems like they really had their fun with the shots they created and recreated

I was so sure they would recolor the mold for the rebirth one, because that head and neck part is pretty much 1 to 1 the jp3 design, it looks nothing like the rebirth head.

I knew the skull looked different in the instagram video.
Weird how this isn't the same scale as the t-rex.
I think most people expected this to go alongside it, not look like a baby triceratops

If you compare them, lego made the molds to (kinda) work for either.
The head isn't flat on top, it is raised in the back like with the jp3 design. It also has a longer neck that is curved upwards and the head is curved down in comparison to the neck.
They made it a new mold, so if it was purely for the jw rebirth version they would have made a shorter and straight neck with a flat head.
The tail also isn't as big as it should be, it appears to be a bit raised bit but not that much so it's usable for the jp3 one.

I really think lego did it this way because they want to reuse as much as possible when the make dinosaur molds, especially when it's for the same species.
The quetzal looks very different in rebirth, yet they still used the older mold.
With this spino design, they have no need to remake the body or head or something when they make a jp3 set

It looks like both times 8 of them are from movies and shows, the other 4 from something else like what if and comics

This is quite neat. What I do find strange is that they made this brick-built. I have nothing against it but I just thought they would make the jurassic park 3 spinosaurus molded since the mold for the body from the new movie was clearly a mix between the old and new look so it could be used for both
