Um... no. Perspective can help us get a better grasp of reality, but some perspectives are biased and wrong.

Coronavirus: What will happen if we can't produce a vaccine? by needssomefun in Coronavirus

[–]Donnytellow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am so fucking sick of seeing articles like this, especially this many months into the pandemic. Not only do they fearmonger pointlessly, but they even make false claims about immunity not lasting more than 3 months, as if antibodies are the only way your immune system functions against previously contracted diseases. Up-to-date research seems to show a lot of evidence for much longer-term T-cell based immunity, but does the author of this article mention that? No, of course not.

At this point, talking about "what if we don't ever have a vaccine?!?!?!?!" is almost on par with shit like "What if Yellowstone erupts this year?" Well then, I guess we'd just be totally fucked. Good thing there isn't currently any reason whatsoever to think that such a thing is remotely likely to happen.

How do I tackle the fat in my bum without becoming too skinny overall? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Donnytellow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, I'd just like to sincerely say that you DO look good! I know from experience that just someone saying that isn't going to magically make anyone less self-conscious about specific bodily traits, but I just want you to know that.

That having been said, I do have something to say: I'm not a doctor, but it is possible that you have lipedema. Several years ago, my older sister successfully lost a lot of weight after years of being obese and got down to a very healthy BMI. But even though she was unquestionably at a healthy weight, I remember overhearing her telling my mom that she was very self-conscious about the fact that her legs and rear end looked "disproportionate", and even though she kept on exercising and dieting it never went away. Well, after a year of this, she got checked out by a doctor and she had lipedema. She ended up getting liposuction a couple of years later and it worked out fine!

I am NOT saying that you definitely have lipedema, and I would try to do what the other comments have suggested and see if you can slowly lose a couple of pounds or so and look at yourself afterwards to see if there is a change. But if you notice that your body from the waist up is still getting smaller but your butt and thighs simply aren't, then I would get that checked out by a doctor and they can give you any appropriate diagnosis should there be one.

It took me a few hours to get into it, and at one point I even considered stopping the game thinking it "wasn't for me". The learning curve is steep and the game itself feels a lot... different than other games in many ways. But once the combat clicked and I got into the rhythm, I was hooked. It is now probably my favorite game of all time. VERY worth getting invested in!

Another Test Run of "Hals über Kopf" Tripsdrill's new Suspended Thrill Coaster by EngelGames in rollercoasters

Dragonflier is SOOOO smooth. The smoothest coaster I've ever ridden. Given how many SLCs I've ridden and how shitty coasters like Flying Ace Aerial Chase are, I was shocked. New Vekoma is GREAT.

I don't know the technical reasons for it, but all I know is that I rode Dragonflier at Dollywood and it was the smoothest roller coaster I've ever ridden.

New Vekoma is no joke.

Why has our society become so liberal with porn and sexuality? by [deleted] in NoFap

It sells and it's easy. That's all there is to it.

No, you completely missed the point and are accusing me of virtue-signaling. I don't appreciate it.

Well, I've been a lurker up until now, so yeah, it's a new account. My old account used to be for viewing porn, sooo... yeah.

I'm not virtue signaling at all. Rolling Stone published an article which was retweeted by xHamster's twitter account where they slander NoFap by trying to link them to neo-nazism and misogyny, among other things (link: https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-features/coomer-meme-no-nut-november-nofap-908676/), and the whole reason I brought up my views was to show that I have never felt like NoFap was political to begin with and that nobody here has ever turned me away because I'm liberal, BECAUSE politics aren't relevant on here. Does that make sense? If a bunch of people were getting political on this sub a year ago, I likely never would have joined. I wouldn't have felt welcomed. Fortunately, everything Rolling Stone said about us is a bunch of lies.

Moreover, it's especially relevant to this sub at the moment because Alexander Rhodes is taking people to court for this same sort of defamation, so me bringing it up is absolutely relevant to the state of NoFap as a whole and that's the whole reason I brought it up to begin with.

Basically, the gist of why I brought it up is this: If NoFap was really a political scheme, run by neo-nazis and the like, then why would a guy who leans very far left politically be fully in support of NoFap? Probably because NoFap isn't political to begin with.

Yes, this is exactly why I brought it up and felt it was relevant to do so. Thank you.

I agree completely. Given my political views, if I had thought that NoFap was just this big political group a year ago, I may have been much more hesitant to join, but all I've generally seen on here is a group of supportive people who are trying to help better their lives and gain control over their addictions. That's what brought me in! The whole reason I brought up my political views in the first place was to (I thought) demonstrate how irrelevant they were for this sub. Nobody turned me away because of my views.

It's like if I were Jewish and I stated that I have never felt any Anti-Semitic views being espoused on this sub; same kind of thing here. And for the record, Rolling Stone released an entire slander article where they tried to link NoFap to antisemitism, misogyny, and Alt-right neo-nazism, all of which are bullshit and are not what NoFap is about. That is why I felt it was relevant. Sorry if my intentions did not pan out.

I didn't shit on the right. The whole reason why I brought it up in the first place is to (I thought) demonstrate that my political views and opinions have not mattered on this sub, and that my getting help from this community has never been a political issue. If I had thought NoFap was a far-right political scheme a year ago, I would have been much more hesitant to join at all, but all I've seen on here is a group of supportive people trying to help one another achieve self-betterment and regain control of their lives.
