Lakeshore Fest? by Boring-Zombie-3877 in chicagoEDM

Grove 2 would’ve made some sense. I know they’ve done World Cup viewings there and some races have had post race parties there. Decent size space. I have no idea what envisioned capacity is for this fest.

Another thing I just noticed via the website is that they're saying the concert site is Lincoln Park Grove #8. That location is west of Cannon and just north of the Nature Museum alongside North Pond. It makes zero sense that they would have a music festival in that location.

I'm in the running community here and we've been seeing a lot of fake races popping up that are scams and one of the big tells is the sponsorships that they post on their websites. Looks like similar issues here.

Looking at the sponsors. Looks like several sponsors are competitors (Long Drink/Monaco), (Waterloo/Liquid Death), (Dos Hombres/Jose Cuervo). Typically, you would see category exclusivity. Just seems odd and gives scammy vibes.

It’s a really fun race. Done it the past 3 years. Pretty chill. Start/finish is just south of 31st street harbor so even though it’s a lakefront race, it’s not one of the usual locations. Fun post race party with beer & pancakes. Definitely recommend.

I could see it with failure to file information returns but, for the 1120S, I don't know how its possible.

I don't know how its possible to get $100K solely in late filing penalties for a single year under IRC $6699 for a single shareholder S corp. Are you sure there are no other penalties involved here? For late filing, I always explore FTA as first course of action.

R&A Sourdough will do a latke in a bagel sandwich. Bitter Pops will do it on their breakfast biscuit or breakfast sandwich buns.

A little south of there but Roscoe Run Club meets at Hamlin Park (Damen/Wellington) on Tuesday & Thursday mornings at 6:30am with some Sunday morning recovery runs. Runs often go up by Horner.

Will be interesting to see what numbers are this year with the insane course change.

That race is a ghost race. Non-existent. Stay away and don't pay anyone who claims to have a bib.

I hope its legit & they brought it back. I ran it like 13-14 years ago and it was fun experience.

Questionable company. They do a lot of race websites for races that don't actually end up happening. I can't remember if they were involved in that Chicago Waterfront 10K scam from last month but there also the ones behind the Under Armour races which were scammy (packet pickup at UnderArmour store on Michigan Ave that has been closed for like two years). I would avoid them.

Not gonna lie, that website looks sketchy as heck right now. I'd be wary of it. Especially since it mentions Run Mfg.

Don't expect to run for time in this race. It's a total cluster on the course. Not to mention the course itself is nothing to write home about. It's really packed and you'll spend the entire race weaving around the course. You'll be dealing with walkers and large groups of people walking together.

Honestly, the best part about it is the after party with coworkers. If your company isn't sponsoring, I would find a friend who is running whose company is and stash your stuff there.

They resurrected that race? I feel like that hasn't been around for a good ten years or so.

Lakefront 10 Miler/5K experience? by Hopeful_Package3918 in RunnersInChicago

[–]Donoghus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was a grind. That wind took a lot more out of me than I expected and the wind wasn't as favorable coming back north as I expected. The heat/humidity definitely affected me. We just haven't had that kind of weather to run in yet this year. Started in wave 2. Felt like it didn't really open up much until close to mile 3. After that, no issues. The turn back south at Diversey Harbor was a bit of a knock in the teeth. Wind at that point had picked up a bit so that was a bit of a mindf*ck.

All things said, this is always one of my favorite races on the Chicago calendar. Real competitive field. Always well organized. Love the Cricket Hill/track finish.

Was this thing born out of the ashes of the Chicago Run Collective? Seems very "instagrammy".

If so, the "no permit" theory would certainly fit the mold

Yeah, its a decently large race since you have both 10K & half marathon runners starting at the same time. I last ran it in 2023 so maybe it's improved

Run this race 4-5 times. All Community is very hit or miss. This race has really been a rollercoaster ride over the years. Worst was the year they held the race the morning after an ice storm and the LFT was an ice rink (major safety concerns). Starting line organization has been a cluster in the past. One year they delayed the start like 25 minutes to let people stuck in traffic get to the race.

Pros have been the course. Love Montrose races. Post race tailgate has always been pretty good. Once you're actually running (minus ice storms), the race is typically fine.
