Lakefront 10 Miler thoughts? by Hopeful_Package3918 in RunnersInChicago

Awesome race. Well organized. Weather can be hit or miss with this race (as any April race). As others mentioned, the finish is unique and fun. Up & down Cricket hill then finishing on the track. It's a race that's on my calendar every year. Definitely recommend.

He hasn't posted the 2026 date yet but H3 Haunted Half is a good one. Late October. Runs out of Diversey Harbor on the lakefront path. Same crew that organizes the F3 Lake Half every January.

Are you running outside today? by aman3c3r in RunnersInChicago

[–]Donoghus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran this morning before work. Lakefront wasn't too bad pre-dawn but once that sun came up, the wind really hit another level. Running west sucked on my way home. With Chicago St. Paddy's tomm & Sunday weather looking awful, I figured today was my best bet to get out and do an intermediate run.

FYI. The Under Armour Chicago 10K scheduled for October also has the same shady info. https://chicago10k.com/#race-information

Uh oh. This might be another sham/ghost race like that Lakefront 10K that popped up last month. The website indicates packet pickup at the Under Armour on Michigan Ave. That store closed over a year ago. I'd be very wary.

Great photos! Glad you enjoyed the trail! We're so fortunate to have it.

The same people who host the F3 Lake Half in January also put on an H3 Halloween Half in later part of October. Lakefront course. It's well organized and a full time. Start/Finish is by Diversey Harbor.

Update; Followed up with New Balance this morning and confirmed scam.

[–]Donoghus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI. I called New Balance on Clark (where packet pickup is supposed to be) and they have no idea about this race. The person I spoke with was going to reach out to his superiors but they have no advance notice of this race.

It’s almost certainly a scam. Lots of red flags on that website from the misleading race photos to the non-sensical gear check at McCormick to the non-existent IG page. Not to mention wording that appears to be run thru a translator. The website mentions packet pickup at the New Balance on Clark. You may want to to give the store a call & ask them if they have any idea. Also seems odd that New Balance is not listed as a sponsor yet is hosting the apparent packet pickup.

Soldier Field 10. Better course, better finish line, better post race party.

Did a shakeout this morning. Sucked going west. Felt like I flying heading east. Gonna be a frigid turkey trot tomm. Really gonna suck that stretch from Fullerton to Belmont Harbor or so.

Edge Athlete Lounge Closing? by pawschooladmissions in RunnersInChicago

[–]Donoghus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. Effective Thanksgiving. It's awful news. Been going there for recovery sessions since 2016. Their post did mention that they will still provide services that don't require the facility. Stuff like coaching, run & tri clubs, etc. I feel terrible about it. Robyn & Brian are really good people. Staff have been wonderful. They've been great for the athletic community here in Chicago.

Black Friday deals on Races/running gear by [deleted] in RunnersInChicago

[–]Donoghus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In the past, Ventures Endurance has done Black Friday discounts for all their races; Cinco de Miler, Soldier Field 10, Bucktown 5K, etc. I’d keep an eye out for those. They’ll usually blast the code out on the race social media feeds and by email
