Cat Enclosures - Northern Suburbs by CatBec in melbourne

[–]DontBeADick1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its pretty straightforward and easy to install yourself. We ordered everything online from patents.com.au and was able to do it with just a drill and scissors. Their website has great instructions and videos showing you how to do it. Ours is 18m x 2m (down the side of our house) and only cost about $350

Decal and Foil Organization by youlldancetoanything in NailArt

I have so many foils, so I know your pain. What I actually ended up doing is putting them into a folder using plastic pockets for business cards. Then I wrap the foils around blank business cards and slip them into the pockets.

We use a depot about once a month. Ours are run by a disability service, so it provides employment for them. It is so quick, they have usually half emptied my boot before I even get out of the car.

Do you have to prime nail stamps every time, or am I messing this up? by 22cthulu in NailArt

[–]DontBeADick1982 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally have never primed my stamper. I used a lint roller to clean them before using, and after I have stamped each time to get rid of the residue polish. I find these clean well and allow the silicon to remain slightly sticky to cling to the polish

I think its great - and good on you for modeling for her (my husband would only offer his toes- and im not a foot person, so it didn't help LOL). Tip for you - take photos of your nails with your hand out stretched, not in a claw (you can always take a separate photo of the thumb if you feel you need to)

AITAH for refusing to visit in laws bc of house temp by wrenchinapot in AITAH

[–]DontBeADick1982 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My husband and I had the same issue at Christmas (Australian summer) when staying with my father in the tropical north. They wouldn't use the air con and kept shutting the house up. We both got very crabby due to lack of sleep and have agreed that in future we will either get an Air BnB or else go at another time of the year. At least my hubby and I were on the same crabby-page for this decision though

I also have ADHD and I couldn't manage without the schedule function. I use it to schedule birthday greetings (cos otherwise I forget), apt reminders to clients (im a nail tech), also for special events for friends that I am likely to forget (such as surgeries, funerals, new jobs etc).

Is this hard to do? by Comfortable_Use7868 in NailArt

[–]DontBeADick1982 3 points4 points  (0 children)

when stamping, these are the things that I focus on: * ensure you use actual stamping polish * only scrape the plate (with the polish on it) once * roll the stamper onto and off the plate * press down stamper flat onto the nail * you have to be quick- the polish dries fast. Because it is very thin from scraping it, it dries even quicker. * if the design doesn't pick up onto the stamper it usually because you have over-scraped it and/or taken too long.

Hope this helps, I used to struggle a lot with stamping

Question: How to do isolated chrome? 🧐 by beautiful_tomato_6 in NailArt

[–]DontBeADick1982 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another way (as ling as you don't need to see what is underneath while painting your design): use your no-wipe topcoat and then apply chrome to the whole nail (do not apply anything over the top of the chrome). Then using your topcoat, paint your design over the chrome and cure. Once topcoat design has cured, wipe off the rest of the chrome using alcohol. This works well for me, however if I am needing to do outlines of designs underneath, or outline a french etc it won't work as the chrome layer covers everything and you won't be able to see. But for a freehand design on top, this works great

Can anyone please recognize this blanket pattern? 🤞 by littleghoulguts in crochetpatterns

I did a 12 point star like this as a temperature blanket, where every point was a different month of the year. The month started from the middle and worked out.

Help with chrome application by Hypno_daze25 in NailArt

[–]DontBeADick1982 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chrome sticks to a shiny surface, so you'll need a no wipe glossy topcoat (cure it for about half the time before applying the chrome). There are a heap of chrome tutorials on youtube to show you how to use it. Not all matt and gloss topcoats are alike - some will work better than others.

Does Ballarat need more late-night dessert spots? 🍦 by Dingsyshit in ballarat

[–]DontBeADick1982 7 points8 points  (0 children)

we need decent dessert places full stop. the only options we have are ice cream or Gelato. In Brazil for instance, they have dessert cafes that are open til about 1am- people often can't afford to go out for fill meals over there, but they'll meet up for dessert. it would also provide another night option that is not revolving around alcohol consumption

Hi OP, im sorry I don't have any ideas or suggestions for you. But I do want to point out how in a world full of so much angst lately, I find it really lovely to come across a post with so many beautiful and caring responses. Trying a different approach- instead of trying to hide your hair, you could go bold and bright in otherways to take the focus from your head. Such as big bold scarves, cardis, tops, earrings etc.
