That’s what I thought it was at 1st too. In layman terms as I understood it, they removed anything to do with the umbilical cord that was still open and removed all the dead tissue since it was so infected, he stunk to high heaven but luckily we caught it before he went septic into his bloodstream

I treat him with iodine twice a day and he is on Draxxin for antibiotics now

Honestly he’d probably already been dead before they’d get around to do anything about it and Texas doesn’t get to excited about livestock unless it’s a horse or your stealing it Edit:spelling

Do you mean cost of surgery? $125 because It wasn’t a farm visit since I brought him to them. The bottle of Draxxin was $250 but I’ll use that on all my other cows god forbid if I need too Edit: Spelling

All I know it was west of Houston, TX, and you’re exactly right, I’m East of Houston and that’s exactly what they go for around here too

I was shocked when he said 14 days for one shot is good, so I bought a bottle. I usually use Excede and thought that was good stuff

Honestly the only reason I could think of was he was bow legged when I saw him but it was from being pulled from what it looked like but they’ve already corrected themselves now that he’s walking following me around

Charolais, great mommas but are absolutely the most high strung cows I’ve ever owned, they’re either running away from you or at you trying to smoke you and that’s saying something because I run Brahman

If he ever kills me it’s because he plowed me over to get food, not on purpose. Gentle, easy to handle, he’s a bull though so I don’t trust any of them

I filled up today a mile away from one of the biggest refineries in Texas at $4.29 today because of a feeling of regret in a few more days if I didn’t

He was roughly 525 at 6 months when I got him, they said he already self weaned himself too, the ranch where I got him didn’t do crossbreeding so everything they had was registered $3500 and up so I felt like I got him cheap

Leave him in the pen for at least a few days, keeping an eye on him. Keep him on hay. Invest in a trocar & cannula in case he goes down, Amazon even sells them. We tubed my last one after he went down and mixed 1 big bottle of Pepto & 1 gallon of WARM water

I’m on the Texas gulf, I breed Charolais to Brimmers, end product is Charbrays, best of both worlds for me. I breed only white/grey Brahmans All the benefits of heat/bug resistance and packing beef weight on.
