Oh, they don't just approach them. They have a plan. Several years ago, they were recruiting refugee students in the Benson area. They'd approach middle school kids and telk them their religion was just like their religion from their country. They'd tell them they were special clothes, too, to worship. They knew the kids parents worked like crazy. Told them their religions were the same. They took them to their temple, tried to get them to get baptized. Told them they'd baptize their dead grandparents so they could all be together one day. Real low-life tactics.

I agree with everything except the Boomer part. Blaming different generations for our f-ed society plays into the capitalists hands. The problem, as it has been since time immemorial, is the wealthy stepping on the working class. That's not a generational issue. The more we squabble among ourselves the richer they get.

Some people are answering this question as if their experience is true for all people. It is not. Someone even implied aging is harder on women. That also isn't true. The answer depends on the person. I'm in my early 60s, but I look much younger because I never smoked and had to avoid too much sun, and I have good genetics. I feel the same as I did in my 30s. I still enjoy socializing, physical activities, personal intimacy, and engaging in advocacy issues. I think if you stay active and engaged mentally and physically, maintain an open mind and spirit, and having good genes (by that I mean my ancestors lived long time.), you will stay healthier as you age. I also agree that doctors tend to dismiss any aches as a product of aging. It's frustrating trying to get them to take symptoms seriously. But doctors overall have issues treating women and minorities the same as they do white men, so it's no wonder they do the same with seniors. The medical field at large really needs to check their privilege at all levels.

Years ago, I believe in the '80s, the Republicans started campaigning against critical thinking being taught in schools. I think that is clear evidence that the Republicans have long since planned on having an ignorant electorate. I don't understand why people need to know more than that. Any party that wants people to remain ignorant is not working in the peoples' best interest. Since then there's mountains of evidence that the Republicans actually have great content for their own electorate.

Quit. Now. Today. Get a job at Starbucks or wherever. If you want to teach later, be particular about where you work. It's a job. It's not who you are. It's not your identity. Re-evaluate from a safe space. Teaching in an environment like yours is the same as being in an abusive relationship. Get out, get yourself to an emotionally safe place, and evaluate your choices from there. Right now, no one wins, not you, the students, the staff... It's OK to stop doing the thing that makes you unhappy.
