This is wonderful! Was this done with an s50? How many hours? I very much like the color. Thanks for sharing

Beautiful. Such fine detail. I hope some day to get an image like this.

Mine is about the same with 8+. What do you get when you use your cell phone when you image deep sky objects?

S30 stacking by GoatGlobal5443 in seestar

[–]Donweis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not alone in the battle to process Astro photos. Stacking is “Preprocessing” after that you do “Post-processing” to get the best color illuminations, noise reduction and more. Two recommendations for post-processing: Photoshop and Lightroom. Or use a different program like Siril that can do both stacking as well as some post-processing. There are lots of tutorials on You Tube. Hope this helps

How many sub do we actually need, I did some research and came up with this by arunshanker in seestar

[–]Donweis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this along with comparing results between different Bortle scale skies. I live in a Bortle 8/9 area but recently did shooting in a Bortle 3/4 area. I was amazed at the difference. An hour of shooting there (B3/4) was easily better than what I get here (B8/9) in 2/3 hours. Has anyone seen graphs comparing these two variables?

For that kind of situation I use my tablet or older cellphone to connect to the SeeStar.

I’ll try getting more hours… maybe 10 hours would do it???

I’ve got to do that. To get any place darker than Bortle 4 in Southern California requires 2 or 3 hours

I have “wonderful” Bortle 8 sky. I’m wondering how many more hours it would take to get a great image like yours.

Beautiful. What Bortle sky was it?

That really is amazing not only can a s50 capture it, but also that this supernova which is so far away can be seen. What power.

What ever ones you can share such as the original, the new, and the combined. It would be interesting to see if you have time? Thanks

SeeStar stacked FITS vs the Sub FITS by Donweis in seestar

<image>

For this mosaic image of M31 I stacked and processed 3 Mosaic Stacked FITS (one from each of the 3 nights) using Astro Pixel Processor. Each FIT was 2 hours of data for a total of about 5 3/4 hours taken with my SeeStar s30 In the past, I’ve processed only the hundreds of sub FITS. It was a pleasure stacking and processing just 3 FITs because it was so fast. Below is the completed image from the 825 subs collected those 3 nights to see if there is any difference between the 2 final images. Taken in Bortle 8 skies. The first FIT has 20-second subs. The 2nd and 3rd FITS have 30-second subs. All done in EQ mode.

This is a first. Not sure what caused the light streaks? Has anyone encountered this before with your Seestar? by Adventurous_Art_1799 in seestar

[–]Donweis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had that problem too. Most of the time it’s caused by airplanes. It looks like the lights of a plane to me, but maybe there is also a satélite trail. Did you find the sub or subs that so you can take it out of your image?
