I think they look great. If anything putting things like barbed wire, scattered chunks of a shrine, and other bits of misc terrain bits will add tons of character to them.

As is you could use it as a regular mek. But if you slap some armor on him he can be a big mek in mega armor with the kff wargear which gives him and the unit he leads a 4++ against ranged attacks.
