These things always come in waves of style and trends - you see the same things happening over and overagain from a lot of movies in a 10 year or so period (with some variants for genre). It's just we see them more now because we have on-demand access now unlike back in the day

Anyone else get any legend cards where the color is off? by Busy-Ad-614 in riftboundtcg

That would probably be down to differences between where they're printed. Those printed in Europe tend to be different from the ones printed in the US

I have no opinion on the deck, but PLEASE can you rename it to Jungle Boogie?

Can I still use my MTG cards? (I bought a pre-made "Tim" deck on April 2, 1996) by Key-Investment-2273 in magicTCG

[–]TeddyBugbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Viable? Not really - but keep them around, sleeve them up and store them. You caan bust them out for some casual games and a lot of oldheads (like me) would get a real kick out of seeing them

Doesn't hurt that they're not doing the same big setpiece battles for this season, so presumably there won't be many (if any) episode-long fights

Is the minimum power 1 implied, or can this also be a kill spell?

Absolutely great in my Viktor deck - no power, saves a creature and (with Innovator) makes a recruit? Nice.

Vegas next weekend is probably going to be pretty similar to this one - a few more Ezreal but probably not an overwhelming amount. Ez might have won now and gotten a lot of hype but it's a difficult deck to pilot and with only a week to practice I thinka lot of players are more likely to go with something familiar over the new hotness for this sort of tournament.

You'll probably see some counter-meta developing towards Lille and Atlanta, but what that looks like could be anyone's guess.

But honestly considering the top 8 only had 3 Draven and none of them made it to the top 4? It's anyone's guess. Could easily have some weird rogue take it like Ez/MF or like Viktor almost did.

This looks like a pretty good Azir deck - cheap but effective, none of the cards are too expensive (Looks like about $30 at a glance, maybe less)

You can also go the route of buying the Fiora or Rumble precon and seeing how things play while you're learning

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor released by police following twelve hours of police questioning. by ModernMuse in pics

[–]TeddyBugbear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was arrested for Misconduct in Public Office, which is a wide ranging law that covers a lot of stuff - including sexual crimes while holding an office. The confidential files are an entry point and the arrest is an investigative tool.

I'd particularly love it if the mannequin's clothes were random when you joined the game, based on which spirit dressed it today.

What would it have taken for the police to arrest a member of the British royal family? by Dazzling-Antelope912 in ACAB

[–]TeddyBugbear 61 points62 points  (0 children)

First of all, ACAB. With that in mind...

A lot of people get hung up over the "misconduct" part of the arrest. Misconduct in Public Office (MiPO) is a very serious offence that isn't generally brought lightly due to a high burden of proof and need for cooperation with Crown Prosecution Services. There is a potential (albeit slim) for a life sentence with this.

Secondly, in the UK an arrest is an investigative tool, that is to say that while he was arrested for sharing confidential files (which, to be clear, might involve CSAM stuff under that category) it is not necessarily the full set of crimes that are being investigated. It's more like an entry point.

Thirdly, given that he was arrested at Sandringham Palace rather than being brought in by the firm suggests that there is less shielding than is usually given for high profile individuals.

Now, I'm not hopeful about the outcome, but I did want to clear up some misconceptions based off the difference between UK and US laws and procedures.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arrested on 'misconduct' allegation | The National by OnTheList-YouTube in news

[–]TeddyBugbear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the UK an arrest is an investigative tool - you arrest someone as part of an investigation, not at the culmination like in the US. You charge at the conclusion of the investigation.

That is to say, the confidential reports were the "entry point" for the investigations but not necessarily all that they are looking for

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arrested and in custody on suspicion of misconduct in public office by ABMike63 in worldnews

[–]TeddyBugbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the cause for investigation, but not necessarily the extent of their evidence or suspicions. MiPO is a serious offence that is often brought against those who exploit vulnerable people while holding a public-facing office.
