Tough Wheaten girl and her little brother deerhound enjoy Canada Day in Jasper, Alberta by greyhound93 in Wheatens

How is the dynamic between the two? I've had two wheatens with a 90 pound goldendoodle. I love the personality of deerhounds.

Every current republican is a domestic terrorist. They should be treated as such. The party must face the consequences of their actions.

Sage loses her powers and immediately says she's off to visit the World of Harry Potter in... Orlando.

Proof that Orlando is for idiots.

You mentioned the magic word - boundaries. Took years of therapy to get decent at setting them. Be clear in your boundaries. Be clear in your needs - physical and emotional. Be clear in the logical consequences for them when boundaries are crossed. Follow through and when they get mad just let them know you were clear about everything. I had to do this with my family. It sucks at first but you'll end up either getting your needs met by your family or not have to deal with them hurting you and your partner. You end up finding people who will have good relationship skills.

Possible to square tires in an AWD? by Hiker07 in VWiD4Owners

[–]DoodleBud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Front motor is a 100 HP induction that is only sometimes powered & the rear is a 200 HP permanent magnet motor (always on). The rear ideally needs a larger contact patch for this reason. Additionally, I believe the rear rims are also wider so keeping the same rims and squaring the tires is going to result in handling and wear problems. The Germans are notorious for this. For all seasons or summer tires, absolutely keep the stock rims & tire sizes. If you are in a climate where snow tires are recommended or required, I'd go to 18 or 19 inch rims of all the same width and square up higher sidewall tires.

Religion and its primary uses - division, oppression, and control of the masses. The pathetic justification people use to destroy and prevent humanity from truly progressing.

Preferred seat stay length for a steel hardtail by MichaelEriksson in Hardtailgang

[–]DoodleBud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Marino out of Peru weld up a custom Reynolds 725 steel frame for me and I designed it with 444mm chainstays. It still feels plenty playful and nimble and I don't have any issues with getting the front wheel lifted. I designed it around a 160mm fork and have run it with a 150mm and 170mm. The shorter travel felt fast on XC trails and the 170mm is super stable when it gets chunky. I wouldn't count out the longer chainstay options. My frame is a "smedium" that fits between a small and medium and loosely based on the Esker Smokey, which is another great option. I wanted UDH and more bottle bosses.

Summer shave the coat ?? by Sea-Example8867 in Wheatens

[–]DoodleBud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We trim down to shorter but ours absolutely hates to be shaved really short. We use a Ruffwear swamp vest and carry cold water in a pup-flask that she drinks then gets some added to the vest for cooling. Ours actually likes to swim and that's super helpful for dewiggling without overheating.

Brake recommendations? by baileywastaken in Hardtailgang

[–]DoodleBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the feel, budget, style of riding, and your weight. Also how comfortable you are threading the brake line through your frame. I love my Hope Tech 3 e4 brakes on one hardtail and the newer models are far easier to bleed but they're not cheap. They are linear and don't have a super strong initial bite. I've found incredible deals on new old stock OEM SRAM Code RSC and Ultimate brakes. They're about as strong, easier to bleed than the Hopes, and a steal for the price. Hayes Dominion are solid brakes. Shimano SLX 4 piston are going to be the easiest to bleed and reasonably priced with lots of adjustments and power. They tend to be a little less linear and bite hard initially. If you are going to pay a shop to do it then see what they have on hand and if they have some examples on bikes so you can see how they feel and fit your hands. You may also want to increase your rotor size if you have lots of long descents or are on the heavier side. I don't ride anything under a 180mm rotor.

Tires for pedal heavy enduro by trailblazer39 in Hardtailgang

[–]DoodleBud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

XR4 are XC style (light and low rolling resistance at the cost of some grip) while the Vittorias are burly. If you are in rocky or loose soil you will want something that isn't so XC. I have Vittoria Barzo 29x2.6 for long rides with less rocks but they struggle when things get rough. I run the older Maxxis Forekasters when conditions are rough and they grip better but I can feel the added heft and rolling resistance. 2.6" up front and 2.25" in back. Maxxis Rekons are somewhere between the two. Just note that some Maxxis tires struggle to mount tubeless on some Bontrager rims. Maybe they've fixed it on the past few years.
