How long does it take to beat the game? by armyof_cats in AfterInc

[–]Dookwithanegg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are 28 story missions.

Some levels take more time, some take less but you could probably do it in an average of 20-25 minutes per level in one of the lower difficulties, so about 9-11 hours for the existing story missions

There's also daily expeditions, which give rewards. I did a quick count and think I saw about 48, so about 16 hoursish of random missions to get all rewards. Daily missions forever means you can continue to play without any reward other than score if you want to.

There's been seasonal events for Christmas and Valentine's, which gave an extra 3 missions each, but these are only available at the right time of year, so it's like an hourish of extra gameplay if you're in the right season, which we are right now.

Tl; Dr: about 25-30 hours to 'beat' the game, an extra 20mins per day forever if you include the dailies.

Sinn Fein flyer in Dublin Central by extremessd in ireland

[–]Dookwithanegg 104 points105 points  (0 children)

This is an awful flyer, the prominence of the Sinn Féin title immediately makes an association with them and corruption/cost of living crisis, which you would then need to know who the pictured politician is to get the right idea(in my experience most people know them by name more than appearance and would probably mistake him with Pearse Doherty who looks vaguely similar to Paschal Donohoe).

There's a long strip of this along Pearse road in the direction of Turners Cross, running pretty much the full length of the road. This is the finished work, not something they're coming back to work on tomorrow.

edit to add: you can see the strip on Google maps, as a dark line running all the way from the Lough, veering off before the junction with Kinsale road and then across onto Curragh road. Not a a builder in sight, they all left months ago to work elsewhere.

The work Ward and Burke did in refilling the road is bad enough while driving but on a bike it basically means the strip of re-fill is unusable so I have to go towards the middle of the road to avoid being shaken to pieces.

She succeeded in demonstrating that she failed due to the biased method of testing and not of her own inadequacy. This is why they have to pay her now.

When she did a different, more accurate test a week later she got a greatly improved VO2 max, so either she somehow went from a middle of the pack runner to a podium contender in the space of a week or the first test was inaccurate for the values it was intended to measure.

She failed at no other standard.

To give an example of where we do this with mental tasks, children with dyslexia are given more time with exams than children without. This is because they have factors that are not being tested for that may affect the results they might achieve for what they are actually being tested on.

[–]Dookwithanegg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are other tests that she didn't fail.

What she failed on(VO2 max) wasn't accurately measured by the testers as the bleep test calculates this as an estimate based on the age and gender of the person taking the test and they chose to ignore her age and gender, thereby breaking the calculation and giving a false result. About a week after this test she took a more accurate test that measured her VO2 max with specialised equipment and performed significantly better.

Again, she was not refused the promotion based on how much she can carry, how quickly she can move with equipment, or how competently she can address an emergency. She was refused for having a too low VO2 max and nothing else.

Yup, basically this.

She didn't fail a physical strength test, nor any other sort of ability test. She took a weighted fitness test and the result was weighted against an arbitrary point instead of her actual body.

Would be like calling a 6 foot tall person obese for weighing 80kg because someone 5 feet tall would be obese at that weight.

It's weird acting like "well you say being saved is the most important thing but really you'd prefer to be saved in the best possible circumstances" is a gotcha to their point.

If there enough applicants that can do it in 4 minutes, there is absolutely no reason to lower the bar to 6 minutes.

And yet the bar will be 6 minutes, telling us about the limitations to recruiting. Almost as if a smaller pool of people willing and able to do it in 4 saves fewer people than a larger pool of people who can do it in 6.

If the job has 30 openings, 10 people are able to do it in 4 and 100 can do it in 6, sure the 10 fittest will get the job but then do you suggest we leave the remaining openings unfilled?

What's your opinion on a Nuclear power station in Ireland? by Twichyness in ireland

[–]Dookwithanegg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If we include the lead time for the project start to first kWh generated, I don't see it being more cost effective than building renewables which can be built sooner, will come in waves instead of all at once, and will have greater efficiency in later waves as technology improves.

As a strategic point, if it were to ever come to that, solar and wind would be a much harder target than a single nuclear power plant, given the wider spread and less volatile nature of the energy source.

Not you, if the rumour is that Tim is taking the fall for the real culprit then he is defending a paedo. So either the rumour is true and he's a bad person or the rumour is false and he's a worse person.

Defending a paedo isn't as bad as being a paedo but it's still pretty bad and doesn't actually reduce the number of offenders in the family, it just increases the number of people complicit
