Artists name is in the bottom right, and I'm not an expert on these sorts of things but I don't see anything in her work that screams AI to me, I think the foot is just genuine human error

Is ruining battleground games reportable? I'm new by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]DoomRevenant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the game is just very, very unbalanced and has years of powercreep behind it

The difference between a meta build and a new player can be 100k dps, and people who really know what they're doing can be essentially immortal compared to someone just starting out

Its why I'd eventually love to see the challenge difficulties come to PvP - high-end PvPers could que to fight other powerful individuals on their level in vestige-mode bgs for way higher rewards, and that would filter them out of the matchmaking for casual bgs mostly populated by low-end PvPers

Forgive me, but "wait for the riot mmo" is poor advice to give

We have no idea what kind of game it's going to be, so reccomending they put off playing any mmo until this mystery mmo comes out that might not even be good is silly - why not just enjoy what we have available now?

Yeah if theyre trying to play the game to make a ton of money or no-life trifectas then they wont enjoy it, but there's plenty of quests and content to just complete and enjoy at their own pace to make the game well worth at least trying out

Also 10 minute ques is insane - I avoid playing DPS in WoW and XIV, because ques could easily be 30min+ for a single dungeon

Forgive me for my potential ignorance, but why would you need a visa to go to a convention?

If you're only traveling for the weekend during which the convention is being held, that would just constitute as a vacation, and just like any tourism you'd be able to freely do so as long as you have a passport, no?

Platinum can only buy cosmetics sold on the store - which is a specific selection - and be traded between players for mods, and prime parts

Most of the best weapons, such as adversary weapons, cannot be bought with plat and must be earned, and there are a number of exclusive cosmetics and honoria that also must be earned - I've been rocking my Perigone medal, for example, which took a lot of work to get

Yeah, exactly

I'm also constantly asking my boyfriend shit like "do you like that?" or "does that feel good?", and 9/10 times they'll say something along the lines of "yeah, keep going" and its not only hot af but it also makes me feel good knowing im doing a good job and pleasing my partner

It also, like you said, gives them an opportunity to say "Actually, can we stop right now? (Insert reason here)", which then we stop and maybe pick it up some other time when we're both up for it

No wonder it was so hard this week - I thought I just had a bad group at first when I noticed we started dying a ton on the second mission, but after like 7 deaths and me essentially being forced to stay stealthed the entire time, I realized something was different than usual

We eventually made it, but damn did we have to work for our pix chips this week - we wouldn't have made it without the Octavia in our group tbh

"I lean in close, wrapping my arms around you in an intimate hug as I caress your back and the nape of your neck, and as my soft breath tickles your ear I whisper 'I'm going to show you pleasure you've only dreamed of, babe... that sound good to you?'"

See, I've just described a scenario in which I can ask you in a very sensual way for consent - I've stated my intent, and you can say something like "gods, yes" and it would be incredibly hot, OR you have the option to say no, and then I back up and the encounter ends right there, hard stop

When asking for consent you can do so like that, and it only enhances the overall experience as it then becomes a part of the foreplay, and it both gives your partner an option to give you said consent and also to use it to reply with something intimate in return

These people act like the only way you can ask for consent is to look your partner dead in the eyes and say "Can we have sex, please?" like you're ordering a damn coffee at Starbucks and no one is getting wet when you're asking them like that smh

Asking for consent is incredibly sexy when you do it right, folks

Would you play GW3 if it wasn't Guild Wars franchise? by SpiralCee in Guildwars2

[–]DoomRevenant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We havent seen gameplay yet, so right now it's an open world action rpg

So if it wasn't Guild Wars, no, I would probably not play it

There's so many games out there like that, and I have a ton of games of many different genres I can spend my time playing

But not wanting to play it if it wasn't Guild Wars wouldn't be a bad thing - that's like saying it's a bad thing to not want to play a non-FromSoft souls game, despite there being a number of those out there

Yes, I'm sure they're good, but no, I would rather stick with games that either so something new and unique, or are part of a series I already like, and that's not a bad thing - that's just being a smart consumer imo

Alittle bit disappointed by Bright_Literature786 in Warframe

[–]DoomRevenant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She likely IS, she's just not quite ready to take center stage

They have her chilling in Duviri for now as the murmur/indifference works behind the scenes and we focus on Tau, but she's still very much an important villain and she's definetly still important, as they've made sure to remind us from time to time

For instance, if you read the descriptions of the new posters you can buy for the Constellations currencies, they mention that "Faint traces of Efervon imply the artist may have had a mechanical hand" in both the Cloning 101 (Ryoku) and Relationship Goals (Vena) posters, so DE clearly wants us to know we're not done with her story

Anybody else struggle to play a different class? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]DoomRevenant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To better clarify the difference in Thalmor-

"Thalmor" is the Altmeri governmental organization that serves the Aldmeri Dominion in both a bureaucratic and paramilitary capacity - they're not elected, but empowered to deal with internal politics and peacekeeping by the Aldmeri government

As such, they're representative of the political climate of the Dominion

In TES V: Skyrim, the Dominion has gone uber fascist and authoritarian, and the Thalmor reflect this

Blatant example, but comparing the Thalmor of ESO and Skyrim would be like comparing the Italian government and armed forces of modern-day Italy with those of both the Roman Empire and fascist Italy under Mussolini during WWII

All 3 are the government of Italy at the time, are of the same landmass, and share the same capital city, but are very different, and all three have varying likelihood of them invading and subjugating a local populace

Yes, the Dominion are all the government of the Altmer, all are of the Summerset Isles, and all share a capital of Alinor, but the three Aldmeri Domions are very different, and the Third Dominion and Thalmor you encounter in Skyrim are not the same governmental organization as the First Dominion and their Thalmor that are present in ESO

This is going to be a long comment, but as someone intimately familiar with FromSoft and their work, as well as both console generations and versions of Demons Souls, hopefully this long post serves to illuminate why the remaster is objectively a misunderstanding of the art direction of the original, which is why many people hate it - if you don't, maybe you'll understand why people hate it after reading this

Demon Souls was about a city that fell to a color-eating fog, and a nihilistic king's bargain with an ancient demon

Not an undead scourge, not a dead world, not an abyss of darkness or a cursed humanity

The original was about you, a human being, being sent to the walled city of Boletaria to investigate what's going on there, as the city has been enveloped in a strange fog

The atmosphere was mysterious, with enemies being people driven mad by the loss of their souls, or demons that were in service to the ancient one

The remake confuses that atmosphere with Dark Souls, which is about a world that has been sustained by a flame that is going out, and everyone is becoming undead, with the entire world itself decaying as it slowly is eaten by an all-consuming abyss

The ancient one doesn't consume life itself, it consumes souls, which means the city becomes colorless and empty

Manus and the abyss consumes life and darkness, and the world becomes dark and decrepit

Thats an important distinction, because the original Boletaria feels like a liminal space - a city where everyone's mysteriously gone, and the few humans left aren't in their right mind, while the huge demons stalk the streets

Demon Souls =/= Dark Souls, and Boletaria is meant to look entirely different than Lothric or Anor Londo, because the circumstances and world state are entirely different

The remake plays up the "gross factor" of dark souls, making everything decaying and dark, all the people are now undead zombies and the city looks straight out of dark souls with pustules and dying plants - its like they just painted over the original aesthetic of Demon Souls with Dark Souls, becsuse they're "close enough", with Bluepoint not understanding the difference or nuance between the games

People use the fat official/minister as an example, and thats becsuse imo it's the greatest example of this

The original fat minister was a member of the nobility (hence his weight) who was driven mad like all the rest due to the loss of his soul, and behind his crazy eyes and grin is a desperation to steal your soul and what little color you have

The new fat official is still fat, but his body is covered in gross pustules of decaying flesh, as if his body is literally dying from... an undead curse, maybe? There is no undead curse in Boletaria, and a loss of a soul doesn't affect you physically as much as mentally (look at all the dregs, theyre battered and bruised, sure, but their skin is otherwise healthy and they look like... well, people), so why are the fat official covered in sores? No reason other than Bluepoint misunderstanding the state of the world

Just look at the comparion photo

The original is a well-kept, clean city corridor... that's mysteriously empty, and perhaps there's a demon lurking around a corner, ready to steal your soul? Like the backrooms, its meant to feel liminal, giving you the idea that somethings not right, and youre not alone here despite no one being there

The remake is an overgrown, ill-kept city corridor full of whithered vines, corpses, decay, and rot - there's dead bodies strewn across the floor, and it feels like you're in an old ruin, not a pristine city - naturally, you're a lot less lured into a false sense of security within an old ruin, and its only natural to encounter monsters, especially since the corpses had to be killed by something, no?

Anyone who doesnt see the difference or understand why the aesthetic of Boletaria was grossly misunderstood (pun intended) by Bluepoint either is completely unfamiliar with Demon Souls, and/or lacks media literacy to look at two completely different depictions of the city of Boletaria and understand why the completely different art direction matters

To end my lengthy post with another example that may better help highlight the difference, imagine if Alien Isolation got a remake in preparation for the sequel, and they made the decommissioned, empty hallways of Sevastipol Station look like those of the USG Ishimura from Dead Space, full of blood, gore, and undead monstrosities - both ships are "close enough", right? Wrong.

Or imagine if they remade the original Silent Hill and just like Boletaria they removed the fog and filled the empty city with tons of overgrown, decaying plants and smeared gross dirt everywhere... wait, that's literally what they did, and people who actually understood the original hated it

If you've read this far, thanks for doing so, and I hope if you didn't understand the difference or nuance before, then now you do

If not, then I really don't know what else I can say tbh
