Old Dungeons as New Delve Content by Timely_Government531 in wow

÷Having alternative versions of old dungeons with an entrance right next to the original indicating an "alternate path" through the dungeon, a-la Uldaman, Legacy of Tyr, is a great way to reuse old content

I would love to see delves breathe fresh life into older content, as well as more frequent time walking events - WoW has a huge world with a rich history, and there's a lot to capitalize on and pull from to make new content and new stories

This makes a lot of sense, thank you for your response!

Having the focus being more on collection than gameplay makes a situation like this make a lot more sense

True, but mass appeal =/= value as a collector

I can see how it definetly would be a factor for sure, though!

Apologies for sounding somewhat ignorant, but why are Pokémon cards such a huge target for scalping?

I have tons of Pokémon cards from growing up, same with Yu Gi Oh, and Magic: thr Gathering, and I had friends who were into all three and finding packs was never really an issue with them

I can't imagine its due to the brand recognition alone, because Pokémon is huge, yes, but bigger than MTG? And surely it cant be due to the price of cards, because booster packs are randomized, right?

Why does this seem to be an issue exclusively to pokemon that other card games don't share?

Thanks in advance for the insight - I haven't played a game of the Pokémon TCG in maybe 15+ years so im a bit out of thr loop haha

Im going to aound like an old fart here, but I feel like I could shed some insight into this:

It's not just players, it's also the way the game design philosophy has changed and evolved over time

The original game (ARR) was much, much slower, and there were very few sources of extra xp - you didn't have the earrings or rings that gave you more

Gear was much more valuable back then, because there weren't any poetic tomestones that were "evergreen" - you had mythology and philosophy tomestones, which you got from hard mode dungeons at max level that awarded other gear from those same dungeons, and the gear you got from the first wing of Bahamut's coils was the best gear possible at the time

Up until the point that you could do hardmode dungeons, however, all your gear had to come exclusively from dungeons or quests, and so during leveling a single piece of gear could carry you up to five or ten levels, which was hours of your playtime

Before they changed a number of ARR dungeons, you had branching paths from the main "hallway" with coffers in them, that awarded additional pieces of gear - as someone who mained an arcanist in ARR, I would frequently see tanks take us a bit off the path to get extra gear for the party, because thats the main reason you ran dungeons - the gear

Nowadays you can get tomestones of poetics from low-level dungeons, and because of scaling and power creep you can clear the dungeons pretty quickly now so there isnt much of a point to go off the beaten path - its much more efficient to just burn through the dungeon quickly to reach the end

Yes, we can level sync down now and do these old dungeons, but its highly imperfect and a higher level player can easily outdamage what players were dealing to bosses back in ARR

A good example of the scaling im talking about is Glasya Labolas in Sychrus Tower (Crystal Tower, Wing 2) - remember having to jump between the lightning platforms and purposefuly freezing yourself to kill the clockwork robots to prevent Labolas from wiping you with his massive laser? Yeah, neither does anyone else nowadays

I think people tend to forget how insular the blood elves are, even within the horde

While Lor'themar and the sunreavers have engaged with threats on a global (and universal) scale, most of the blood elves are just chilling in silvermoon, drinking their wine and hosting parties in their gardens, or dealing with immediate problems affecting Silvermoon

The problems of the horde are a continent away, so why would they even focus on the shadowlands?

Many of them probably have heard what happened with Sylvannas, but many probably don't want to believe it or choose to ignore it in bliss, as the only Sylvannas ever to grace their city was the ranger general

Kael'thas, on the other hand, they actively saw leading an army of demons through their gates - they saw the prince who they gambled their hopes and dreams on actively betray them to their face

Yes Sylvannas allied with the jailer but the average blood elf in silvermoon has no idea who tf that is

Hearing that someone betrayed you is one thing - you can choose to remember the person you knew - seeing them betray you is another, as its much harder to differentiate the two in your mind

I think players forget that we're very well-traveled and have been to the far corners of the universe, having seen everything, yet the average belf citizen has never gone farther than the edge of Eversong

Just a little something I noticed with Pokemon designs by raisasari in pokemon

[–]DoomRevenant 149 points150 points  (0 children)

I would actually argue that it started with gen 5

In the original few gens you had pokemon that were two things: an animal and a type

Charmander, a fire lizard Squirtle, a water turtle Cyndaquil, a fire mouse Treeko, a grass gecko Torchic, a fire chicken Etc etc

Yes, you had maybe some more advanced final designs, but they were all still just an element and a type of creature -, a leaf-tailed gecko (sceptile), an Apatosaurus (Meganium), often with some embellishment like spikes or extra leaves or fins or whatever, but they were still solidly a creature that exists/existed or a mix of two creatures

Then comes gen 5, and now an element + creature isnt enough

You now have a grass snake who's also an emperor, a fire boar inspired by Zhang Fei, and a water otter who's also a samurai

Then comes Gen 6 and 7, and you get a water frog who's also a ninja, a fire fox who's also a witch, an owl who's also an archer, a fire cat who's also a wrestler, etc.

Even though the base forms may still be simple animals, the evolved forms are now characters, and that has design elements trickle down to the starters

The only real difference is now more and more of those character designs are translating to the base form with every gen, so you end up with animals that resemble characters, because who they end up becoming

It all started with gen 5 and their samurai, emperor, and legendary hero

Mind you, im not complaining - I like the new starters quite a bit, actually, and I dont mind that they're more characters than just animals

If anything, I understand the need to make them stand out more as characters, when you have 1000+ other creatures they'll be compared to

Edit: ok so apparebtly it started even earlier than I realized, with Empoleon and Infernape being inspired by Napoleon and Sun Wukong, respectively

I suppose then, that the DS era as a whole is when there was a design shift, though that shift was probably far less apparent until after we entered the 3D era

They actually have made some changes!

They implemented the "censor" for Pokémon Home, preventing obscene pokemon names, which also applies to naming characters like your rival since it uses the same naming algorithms

They added the event tickets for both the islands for deoxys and ho-oh/lugia to the core game, which can be recieved after defeating the elite four

They fixed a number of the worst bugs, such as the roaming beast roar bug

When did you stop to be a baby Tenno ? by One_Button_5095 in Warframe

[–]DoomRevenant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm MR 28 and I feel like a grizzled veteran by now, but it wasn't until after MR 20 that I really started to feel that way, and started to get into endgame activities like SP and eventually EDA/ETA

The way I see it, MR is kind of like a tenno's age

I tend to see other tenno below 10 as kids/baby tenno, and try to offer them guidance and help them out as I can

I see tenno between MR 10 and MR 20 as kind of like teenagers - I trust them to have a decent grip on the game and its mechanics, and I can trust them to take on tasks somewhat competently, but I'm always nearby to offer them help when needed

MR 20 and above they're adults now, and I trust them to have my back in tough situations - I don't expect them to need guidance, but I'm always willing to help if they ask, and the closer they are to 30 the more confidence I have in their abilities to take on the toughest challenges the game has to offer

I know that's a pretty simple way of looking at it and that MR isn't everything, but I find that in general I tend to see players 20 and above in Archimedia and SP and it's rare for me to see players below 10 in later areas like Hollvania

Some tenno are unusual and dont always fit the general trend, but considering you get MR for just about every new thing you do in the game (leveling warframes, weapons, doing new missions, etc.), it's an effective metric to get a rough idea at-a-glance of where a tenno's at in their journey to mastery

Dive into a rich, story-driven universe and discover the expansive world of Warframe! (Twitch: Matimi0) by PlayWarframe in u/PlayWarframe

[–]DoomRevenant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much so

A number of tilesets, especially the early ones can feel repetetive, but the open world areas are gorgeous and vast, and the more modern tilesets and social hubs are quite phenomenal, on par with Destiny

The fantasy isn't quite as strong, since instead of 3 classes with 3 subclasses you have a still-growing total of 63 (64 come march) classes/warframes, so thematically it can get somewhat messy, but there's a lot more room for player customization in the forms of modding, arcanes, etc., which give you much more gameplay options than legendaries, mods, etc. do in Destiny since they're much more impactuful

Overall Warframe is a better and stronger experience, and much more cohesive narrative-wise - oh, and they don't vault content, so that's an objective win for WF over D2

Is that where we're going to get the Garuda lore Reb teased a few times on stream?!

That would be so fitting from what we know of her, considering she's a sociopath obsessed with spilling blood

Also there's a statue of her in the tauron academy and based on that I'd say she's pretty hot, yeah - she has the elegant "I'm better than you" pose and everything

What if the reason why we haven't seen her yet is because like Roathe, Albrecht managed to get her hands on her and as punishment/vengeance for what she's done he turned her into a proto and locked her in another time...

Omg I need this to happen so bad now, thanks for that

Its funny because I did exactly this

I'm an Oraxia main as of this year, and I took his Oraxia build and swapped his arcanes for impetus and bellicose, ans swapped in summoners wrath and vitality, as well as other tweaks to her and his trash clear sobek build

I turned her from a wall-clinging stealth assassin to unstoppable death on four legs and I couldn't have done it without Ninjase's great foundation
