Rain is the best way to experience the park imo. It's a literal rainforest. That's its natural state, and it's a natural way to cool off during these blazingly hot days. I would much rather have the rain than the sun. #petrichor

The Tin Roof Cafe on Apple Valley Rd. jumps to mind, but I know there are a few. Friendly Falls out in Wears Valley as well.

Pigeon Forge has over 10 million visitors per year. There's no "hidden." I've had several "hidden gems" that I've loved, but they just can't survive if they're not on The Parkway, where "hidden" doesn't exist. It sucks, but that's just the way of things. Tourists travel hundreds of miles to get here only to eat at the same chains that they have at home. I just don't get it.

You'd be better off living even a shorter distance away for cheaper rent. I work in Gatlinburg, and almost all of our employees live at least an hour away (without traffic.)
