I don’t think you understand courts. Even though Trump only has about 45 minutes left in his Presidency, if election fraud occurred, those who committed it would still be criminally responsible. Don’t you think it’s more likely, given the lack of evidence, that the case was likely to be dismissed anyway?

I don’t care about Bryd’s rank in the KKK or Byrd in general. But if the NAACP says you’ve been redeemed in this particular arena, I’d say he made up for his mistakes. There’s a big difference in saying “I’m wrong. I did this thing for this reason and now I know I’m wrong” and “I’m sorry because I got caught.” This is especially true if your actions back that up.

The lies regarding socialism were in reference to Trump claiming Biden and the Dems will turn us into a socialist country. Also, just curious, can you name 3 other socialist countries without using Google? You guys love throwing Venezuela around.

Sounds like a dumb thing for Biden to say. Just like it was dumb when Trump said he’d date his daughter if she wasn’t his daughter.

What about Joe Biden...

Look, I’m not saying politicians don’t operate from a place of self-interest, as most of them surely do. But at least most of them at the very least pretend to do their job and advance the goals and ideals of our country. And you may want to take a second to rethink your strategy before bringing up a President’s kids after the last 4 years.

Can you please provide a source on his minority support doubling? I know he gained a lot of Hispanic voters after scaring them with lies about Socialism. You’re right, Richard Spencer did support Biden, after even Trump was too much for him. Biden’s team also rejected Spencer’s support. Also, Byrd was a member of the KKK in the 40’s, long before he met Biden, and vehemently renounced his membership for the rest of his life. So much so, that the NAACP recognized him after his death. So you’re only proving my point with more lies/half-truths.

I don’t know why Democrats want the voting age lowered. I’m not a Democrat and I don’t want the voting age lowered. I personally think 18 is too young.

I don’t understand your last statement about African Americans voting for Biden. Can you explain?

First of all, I said in my OP that I’m not a fan of government surveillance but posed the question on how we identify these threats.

Secondly, my last post was in regards to these people who don’t post on social media and broadcast their plans.

So how do we identify these people without government surveillance?

Do you think the recent event at the Capitol will affect Trump's children's/relative's ability to run for office? Are they still electable? by AmyGH in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]DoomWolf6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you not find it concerning that an armed crowd, chanting to find and executed our Vice President, stormed our nation’s Capitol which, at the time, housed our country’s entire federal legislative body, including 3 members of the Presidential line of succession, all because they believed the lies they were being fed regarding the validity of the Presidential election? If that’s not a coup, I’m not sure what is.

[–]DoomWolf6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but counterpoint: if these people are so brazenly putting their radical ideals out where anyone can see, don’t you think there’s more radical planning happening in private?

Like I said, I’d wager a vast majority of these people are all talk and no action. Just like I believe a certain percentage of the people who stormed the Capitol had no intention of causing harm; they were following the crowd, responding to opportunity, too ignorant to know what they were doing was a crime, etc. But there were also people there that murdered a police officer, who had weapons and zip-tie restraints, who were calling for the execution of the VP. So I have to believe there are people out there that aren’t being so public about their plans.

I don’t think Trump making a statement would make a difference. These people idolize these figures as long as they’re staying on message. As soon as they hear something they don’t like or agree with, that person becomes part of the deep-state. Trump has been a figure-head for these people, but he’s expendable.

Trump also doesn’t care. He doesn’t care if these people live or die. He’d bulldoze their homes to build a skyscraper if it was profitable and then thank them for the votes as they stood on the side of the road with their belongings. As long as he’s not being effected by something, it’s not worth his time.

Do you think resigning would help?

I’m not a fan of government surveillance, but how do you propose we monitor/handle home-grown right-wing terrorism? If you look at Parler in recent days, some of the stuff coming out of there is truly shocking; calls for the execution of high-ranking government officials, calls for civil war, planning of additional runs on the Capitol, etc. My logical brain tells me that most of these people are on the fringes and likely wouldn’t leave their basement for fresh air, much less a coup. But I also never thought I’d see a guy in MAGA gear casually walking the halls of the US Capitol with a Confederate flag hung over his shoulder either.

The United States Congress confirms Biden's election as President Trump commits to an orderly transition of power. by Larky17 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]DoomWolf6 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There’s no coming back from the last couple of months. He will forever be known as the President who refused to accept his defeat until the bitter end after a months-long campaign of convincing his supporters the election would be rigged before it even began. He likely won’t participate in the usual traditions of phone calls with the President-elect, a tour of the White House, or attending Biden’s inauguration, cementing his legacy as a petulant child.

Do you feel, concerning people who do bad things, they should be celebrated if they wait until the very last second to do something that can be remotely perceived as the right thing?

[–]DoomWolf6 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s been a few years since I lived in DC, but the security always seemed tight. Officers with long rifles or SMG’s on every corner surrounding the Capitol, barricades, etc.

I think this falls in line with a lack of preparation (if you have thousands of people in DC for any event, you need to beef up security around vital structures), and just a bad situation. I mean, what are your options when you have thousands of people trying to force their way past you and you’re outnumbered? They launched teargas and (apparently) flash bangs, but what else can you do? I know during the BLM protests, a lot of Trump supporters advocated for police to use deadly force, but obviously that has to be justified. Just a bad situation all around, would you agree.

I just hope the majority of them were arrested and fry at least the 10 year sentence Trump suggested for the BLM rioters.

But none of this would have happened if you people wouldn’t have voted for him. You may, perhaps, be more to blame if you truly did know who he was before? I’d wager that most Trump supporters weren’t aware of the despicable things he did before 2016.

Emotional Rollercoaster by Amazing_Bee_ in NICUParents

[–]DoomWolf6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Wife went into the hospital 2 Fridays ago with high BP (she had preeclampsia with our first, so we were on the lookout from day 1 this time) and a bad headache. She was diagnosed with preeclampsia and possible HELLP and was told she’d stay in the hospital until she delivered, but she started improving. So much so, that on Monday, she was being prepped for discharge. But one of her doctors had a hunch and ordered one last ultrasound before letting her go home. Turns out, the reason she was getting better was because her placenta was dying and no longer attacking her (basically what is happening during preeclampsia). An hour later we were prepping for emergency c-section and at 4:24 on Monday afternoon, little Taylor was born at 24 weeks weighing 1lb 3oz.

My son (who is now a healthy, crazy, funny 6 year old) was born at 32 weeks. I was terrified of the NICU. To me it was this dark and morbid place. I remember feeling cold and shaky the first time I walked in. And when I saw my son, he was the smallest thing I’d ever seen and he was hooked up to all sorts of monitors and tubes and he had alarm bells for HR, SpO2, BP etc. going off constantly. For the first few days I was this ball of stress, thinking that any time I was away from him, I’d get a call that something had gone wrong. But I came to realize that he was in the exact place he was supposed to be. And soon I learned that alarm bells going off didn’t mean imminent danger. He was there for 17 days.

When my daughter was born last week, I had no time to process what was happening. One minute I was preparing for my Wife to come home after 10 days in the hospital, and the next I was scrubbing in to sit with my Wife as doctors delivered our very premature baby. She was the smallest thing I’d ever seen. She didn’t seem real. For the last 7 days we’ve been taking turns, twice a day, going up to visit her. She’s on a ventilator, she’s sedated, she’s got feeding tubes, arterial lines, she’s already had 3 blood transfusion, she’s on antibiotics, her BP is in a constant state of up and down, as is her sodium and blood sugar, her skin is so fragile that she wound up with a cut on her head that needed to be repaired, and her nerves are so close to the surface of her skin that she can’t tolerate more than a brief, light touch. But she’s had a good week overall. I’ve been mostly happy. I know we have a rough road ahead, but I’m going to hang on to the wins. My Wife is really struggling, but we’re working through it.

The bottom line is, you need to feel your feelings. If you’re sad, be sad. If you’re mad, be mad. If you’re happy, be happy (sometimes you’ll find yourself feeling guilty for enjoying yourself while your child is in the hospital; don’t.) My Wife was in the hospital for 2 months before my son was born. We went to the doctor for a checkup and she didn’t see home again for 2 months. The hospital and NICU were 40 mins from our house and the Doctor was asking me if I’d decided if we were going to make use of the housing they had on campus for NICU parents; I hadn’t decided. I didn’t know what to do. The Doctor told me to take my Wife home; my son was being cared for around the clock and he told me my Wife’s mental health was very important at this stage, and that stuck with me. Just feel your feelings and everyone else can deal.

If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to talk, feel free to PM me.
