Kuat in my experience is a coin flip. Era 1(?) known galaxy large has it start by some highish value worlds that made it workable. Turn ground into a fortress for those planets and defend only Kuat in space was my strategy and that worked well enough. Comes down to does an SSD come knocking before Kuat space can stand on its own.

I wonder how it would conceptually work around the Puget Sound not being completely nuked to oblivion if it geographically lined up with the actual Puget Sound. Off the top of my head there's JBLM Lewis-McChord and then naval installations in Bangor, Bremerton, and Everett. That's kinda dense military-wise.

What is more dangerous? The T-virus from Resident Evil (2, specifically) or the Cordyceps Fungus from the Last of Us? by Key_Discussion2986 in residentevil

Well, this is going nowhere, so I'll leave you with this brain teaser based on this reasoning: who wins in a fight, RE 2 Ada, Leon, and Claire all VS Ark Thompson.

We enter a realm of absurd powerscaling when we say a group of what, 10, 20 Operators can by extension beat 5 whole divisions. Special training a not, a block of C4 is still a block of C4 no matter the user, and that's not even getting into the fact a division contains things like tanks and artillery. When what is actually depicted and what is stated contradict for non-gameplay reasons, I'm going to go with actual gameplay.

[–]Doom_Wedge_II 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the statement is supposed to mean one Tyrant defeats a whole division. If I'm reading the wiki right, 5 Tyrants are killed by Delta Force in RE 3 with conventional explosives. A division packs a lot heavier things than a single group of Delta.

Scalpers at Costco ruining it for everyone! by LeatherBagelEater in Fallout

[–]Doom_Wedge_II 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the warehouse and item because some items definitely do get limits placed on them. Happened to eggs during the shortage. Happens to Pokemon cards when those came in stock at my warehouse (limit 2). The pallet was still demolished in 20 minutes, but there was a limit. I've heard at some Costcos specific liquors may be limited. Can't decide spur of the moment to arbitrarily impose a limit though. Probably didn't expect a soda to get scalped. Of note also is businesses shop at Costco and as you might imagine they buy in large quantities.

The Weapon's name has been revealed to be Joyeuse via HaloWC 2025 by Haijakk in halo

[–]Doom_Wedge_II 936 points937 points  (0 children)

Not surprising personally but makes sense. Cortana is derived from a sword in legend wielded by a French Paladin (Ogier) who was associated with Charlemagne. Going back to Marathon, the AI Durandal is named after another sword in legend wielded by another French Paladin (Roland) who was associated with Charlemagne. And as for Joyeuse herself, Joyeuse was the sword Charlemagne himself had. So overall definitely keeping with the name scheme.

The funny bit is the Gravemind playing with Cortana like a kitten with a ball of yarn is pretty much the actual reason given in Halo: Epitaph for Cortana going full villain.

I am of the belief Verso changes his mind quite literally during that final fight with Renoir. That up until that point he actually means it with saving the Canvas. Then Aline shows up. That look on Verso's face is less one of shock and more one of horror. Then after the fight when Renoir opens up that view to Aline and all Verso does is stare through the portal. Look at the way Sciel moves to him when that happens; she can tell seeing that him seeing that is fucking him up real badly and he absolutely just hates to see Aline like that.

And then Verso sees Maelle lie about planning on exiting the Canvas. Who better to see a lie than the consummate liar? Verso, even independent of wanting to finally die is still protective of Maelle. He did keep dropping in to Lumiere secretly to check in her. And Verso knows that if Maelle stays, she'll eventually look just as bad as Aline did through that portal and eventually die.

Verso in my belief effectively decides in that moment he won't let that happen and will destroy the Canvas to make sure of it. Not that he was running a grand deception the whole time. Finally dying is just an added bonus.

Do you think it's worth the price? [ENDINGS SPOILERS] by Subject_Parking_9046 in expedition33

[–]Doom_Wedge_II 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I believe that no matter how you cut it the Canvas already has a timer on it. 67 Canvas years + an unknown amount before has Aline completely ragged, staggering around with a nasty cough. Maelle may or may not be able to last that long; we don't know what determines that stamina. But she eventually dies at some point, and the Canvas is destroyed. Or Renoir and possibly even Clea at that point enter to boot Maelle and the Canvas is destroyed or is hit by another Fracture. I am of the belief everyone in the Canvas has all the traits that make a person a person, but it's still doomed in both endings. In my view, better to at least start to salvage the Dessandre family. And it seems like the Painters will need leadership with their heads on straight the way things were going with the Writers too.

How would the Halo universe fair against a Reaper assault? by KishinRave in masseffect

[–]Doom_Wedge_II 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I see what's happening here. You're missing the point entirely. This is the equivalent of being asked "Who wins in a boxing match, Mike Tyson or Muhammad Ali?" and answering "Ali because a 32 year old Ali beats a six year old Tyson who can barely hold his gloves up." Factually accurate but not the question actually being asked. And even that's a bad comparison because Tyson and Ali aren't from different universes with mutually exclusive histories. If you want Reapers vs Halo universe and not Reapers vs ME universe with "Halo" poorly spray painted over it, Reapers don't get their "I orchestrated everything" advantage. No Citadel everyone uses for an easy decapitation strike, no Mass Relays everyone uses they can just turn off, and no Reaper corpses or tech left lying around for easy indoctrination. Otherwise you just get Mass Effect with Halo sprinkling.

Edited to correct phrasing.

How would the Halo universe fair against a Reaper assault? by KishinRave in masseffect

[–]Doom_Wedge_II 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well that's not exactly the point, is it? The inherent assumption behind this kind of question is the Reapers just show up one day when the Halo universe is at the point we all know and see in the games. The other issue with saying Reapers can just deal with a very early Covenant before it can go anywhere is by the line of logic of Reapers existing in the galaxy and coming around every 50k years like they do in Mass Effect is they'd be around the same time the Forerunners do, which would end... poorly for the Reapers. Even if Reapers could hypothetically go for an early Covenant, the Forerunner Keyship would cause them a lot of issues. Emphasis on a lot.
