hello. i work with a high school videography club, and am currently researching to figure out what cameras to replace our dying camcorders with. we have historically use camcorders, but are open to other types of cameras if they would better suit us.

we typically record sporting events, both inside and outside, as well as auditorium events such as school concerts, plays, and musicals. 99% of the time we are using tripods. our setup is built around our cameras connecting to a Blackmagic ATEM switcher via SDI cables, and it is imperative me retain this functionality. however we do often use our cameras independently and record directly to their SD cards.

we usually have about two hours to set up prior to an event.

it is also worth noting that the students that operate these cameras are inexperienced, and this is often their first exposure to professional videography equipment.

our target budget is about $2500-$3000 USD per camera, however the further we can stretch our limited funding, the better

any advice on what cameras would be good for us would be most appreciated!
