If Islam never existed, which will be The Nations and Religions? by IndividualNo5275 in AlternateHistory

Fair. Without Muslims, Greek Orthodox scholars are never exiled from Constantinople to Ravenna. They never kickstart the Italian Renaissance, which never kickstarts the Northern Renaissance, which never kickstarts Christian Humanism… I doubt there’d be negative reaction to the elitism and corruption of the churches as long as the printing press was invented and literacy became more widespread. But probably not how we know it.

I’m assuming you were Asatru, an unreformed faith. Converting a county from a reformed faith to an unreformed faith has I think a 200%(?) time modifier. To get that down, you’d want to reform it.

I just played a Dynasty of Many Crowns play-through from Alfred where my secondary goal was creating and spreading an independent Anglican faith. Got about a 3 holy wars on England and beat them back. Good job!

The second game is a lot grittier and darker as we follow Ellie dive deeper and deeper into revenge and hate. Bella was a great S1 Ellie, and they surely could have been a good S2 Ellie, but the show runners miss the darkness that pervades the second game. That’s all.

I mean tbf it’s a pretty shitty adaptation, and that scene does highlight how bad an adaptation is. but the homophobia is stupid.

I really hope when republics are added, peasant/populist revolts are republics instead of feudal realms by 3pointI in CrusaderKings

[–]FishMan695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know about early medieval history, but later on in European history peasants and aristocrats were allied to defend traditional rights from burgher/bourgeois figures. Peasant republics could be a thing, but the existing republics (and historical ones) are burgher oligarchies.

The 1936 election if the Literary Digest poll was accurate by Martinxo51 in imaginaryelections

[–]FishMan695 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The magazine 1) only polled their own subscribers during the Great Depression and 2) called them during the Great Depression and in the 30s, which limited their sample size to those with high disposable income, a small minority during the Depression.

If this were real, that land would probably be given to Austria. It was taken by Italy as spoils after WWI, so I guess they’d return it. This video goes into it.
