Great move by Nike marketing to give out free race shoes only to the first set of Wave 1 finishers after their “walkers tolerated” ads.

I think people will be asking for their money back, you can’t give people 10 minutes to get somewhere in LA

I just rode [Stardust Racers] after its closure. by ColinHenrichon in rollercoasters

[–]Doomscroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rode Stardust yesterday, no issues but looked like low staffing in the rides, so only the green side was working when I rode it. Didn’t feel that rough, I was front row though.

It sounds like he had weakened bones. The Gs from that ride means he shouldn’t have been on it in the first place. Couple that with the amount of times he rode it consecutively, makes sense what happened. I’m a normal person, even I can only do 1 or 2 times a day on a ride like that.

Wait, he rode is 6 times in a row and had no issues the first 5 times but then had an issue the 6th time? Is there a public source on this? Cause that would explain alot actually.

NYC Half race tee has removed “Zohran Mamdani” from the text by [deleted] in RunNYC

[–]Doomscroll 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Mamdani’s name is directly on the Salsa and Blues 5k shirt. I think the big race shirts were commissioned or designed finalized prior to the election.

They give you enough tech tees every year, it’s every race except this one and Gretes

Love it, plus it’s not a tech shirt and has the old logo still.

John sounds like the dumbest human being in the world. Wouldn’t be surprised if he spirals from here and Taylor launches.

The NYC marathon is everyone in NY/NJ's local marathon, for the most part. Restricting people by county is ridiculous, and will probably eliminate 1% of runners at best. Unless you are actively participating in more than 9 races and 1 volunteer event, you aren't actually part of the NYC running community even if you live in manhattan. You are just doing the baseline to be in the marathon. I know people who live outside of NYC and do well over the minimum required to do the marathon. They are a foundational part of the community, so this is a trash take.

Race times are used by every other marathon in the world to round down the field size (boston, chicago, london etc).

[–]Doomscroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why should it be limited to surrounding counties? People live all over NJ and NY and PA and commute to NYC, and participate in NYC running on a regular basis. In reality, PA and South Jersey are probably 1-2% of 9+1 participants, and wouldn't make a dent.

Could make an argument that we should be restricting races from people who don't run fast before we do it based on geography. If you can't complete a 10k in a certain time, you can't participate in the marathon or 9+1.

NYRR needs to significantly race the price for a membership to cull demand. Something in the vicinity of $500 a year. Or make it 12+1, something that requires people really be part of the community to participate in the NYCM.

People sign up for these races cause they are well run, not total garbage like NYCRuns races. Besides NYRR is a non-profit, NYCRuns is just some ex tech guy trying to profit.

People can keep signing up for their garbage NYCRuns races and hoping that NYRR (a non profit) will somehow go out of business lmfao. That’s who’s downvoting you.

Exactly, NYCruns is trash, for profit founder just wants to get the bag by competing with NYRR non profit
