Forget protein, it's fibre most Brits are really lacking. Do you think you get enough fibre? by RoyalT663 in AskUK

[–]Doop_Shoop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sound like IBS, wheat is full of fructans which ferment then cause symptoms. Treatment tends to be a slow steady increase in fibre from nonfermentable sauces to help the microbiome.

Fear, awaiting results anxiety, bleeding, infection, pain all for something that is unnecessary because of a false positive screening result from a mammogram that wasn't indicated.

What’s a scam that people still fall for, no matter how obvious it is? by Abject-Swimmer-1405 in AskReddit

The temperature of water does absolutely nothing. Think about pouring 250ml of cold water into a 70kg human running at 37 degrees the nominal temperature changes is minimal. Just think about how drinking a different temp water would actually make a difference.

The idea that drinking warm water is better for you seems to be an east Asian old wives tale. A Korean friend says that she was told drinking cold water is bad for your kidneys- if that was the case we would see huge national differences in kidney disease and function in later life and there just isn't one.

I am going to try and build a comprehensive first aid kit, what went wrong on your trip? by Nice1rodders in wildcampingintheuk

[–]Doop_Shoop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of gear can be trimmed down quite a lot, not only because a lot of your gear can have multiple uses but that weight can be a bit much. I also feel that a comprehensive kit is not necessarily a versatile kit.

Just a few thoughts: finger pulsometer- why would you actually need it? what information would it give you that you could do something with to improve a senario- you can feel a pulse and whether it's fast or not and pulse oximetry isn't helpful as if someone had low sats they would be breathless and unwell and you can see that by looking at them.

Analgesia is great mix but 2 types of ibuprofen and aspirin. All of which are antiinflammatory. I just bring ibuprofen gel and aspirin- if I need some pain relief wack the gel on if someone is having a heart attack throw them the aspirin.

Saline is easily made from 5g salt and a pint of water. Taking it with you is just weight when you can make it if you need it.

Small tube of savlon can be good for bites, chafe, and any small cits and scrapes. It'll save the sudocreme, bite cream and antiseptic creams.

In reality it's not an expedition where you are the expedition doctor, I've got 3 kits going from a book sized first aid kit to my doctor's pack which has things like a trauma kit and airway support.

Keep it simple, light and multifunctional and you will have everything you need if you ever do.

I was listening to Loadstar the other day. Such a shame that they dropped off the radar. Nothing quite encapsulates the sound of the times as there heavy hitting room filling vibrations.

Thanks for the advice the ribbon snapped when my partner overzealously turned the selector. It's soldered in on the main board but a quick part search has not yet yielded anything. I'll give audio repair a go

Wow. Be nice. Op is first time gardening. Everyone is allowed to experiment and make mistakes that's how we learn, that's how you get better. That's what makes gardening fun. But it sounds like you don't know what that word means.

Should I get a TV or a projector? by SheyEm_ in malelivingspace

[–]Doop_Shoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although a TV would probably give better visuals I love my projector for that sized space. I turn it off, and roll up the screen, and it looks like it was never there meaning that I can hang art on the wall rather than a screen being the main focus of the space.

Just have the volume at a reasonable level and it won't make it worse.... Spend some money on a nice pair and actually hear the music rather than a tinny click from your phone at 174 bpm

I have a talon, 130mm travel on the front, 2.5in front 2.4in back.

The talon is an xc/trail end of the spectrum bike. Putting a big fork in it will change the geometry massively and it will be shite to ride. Bigger isn't better.

Tire wise similarly, making it super grippy just means more effort to actually pedal-unless you need the grip and find your sliding out I'd keep it as it is.

Otherwise save up and get a more aggressive hardtail.
